thefaithworks and Audacious City Church
We’ve been preaching recently about understanding the seasons in our lives, and about holding lightly to things which are temporary, and about looking backwards and forwards. Why? Because God has great plans for each of us, and for churches, and for the worldwide church. We want to be ready for when God speaks, so we can move into his plans.
Over summer, God spoke to Iain about the next step in the life of thefaithworks. God spoke about thefaithworks joining with Audacious City Church, another great church in Manchester. God also spoke to Glyn Barrett, the Senior Minister at Audacious City Church, about exactly the same thing.
As you’d expect, we are really excited about this - firstly, because we are convinced it’s a God plan, and we want to live out God’s plans. And secondly, because we believe that through embracing God’s plans, we will see a spiritual multiplication as God works, in Failsworth and across Greater Manchester. He is, after all, the God of the “immeasurably more than we can ever ask or imagine!”
thefaithworks’ current site in Failsworth will continue to be used for community work, now under the banner of Audacious City Church. And as a congregation, we will be joining with the rest of Audacious City Church each Sunday.
We hope you will join us on this next exciting step in our journey together!
If you’re part of thefaithworks, keep Thursday 4th December free to come down to a coffee night at Costa Coffee at The Fort Retail Park just off Cheetham Hill Road. From 7.30pm, you can come and meet with the leaders of Audacious City Church to find out more about the church, the vision, the people and anything else you want to ask.
It will be a great night, so don’t miss out!
In this great talk, Glyn Barrett (Senior Minister at Audacious City Church) talks about the journey we go on as we cross the line into obedience to God’s plans.
Glyn also talks about the exciting journey that thefaithworks and Audacious City Church have been on over the last few months as God spoke to both churches about joining together.
Listen and prepare yourself for all that God has for you and for thefaithworks as we follow his call.
Sometimes people can find that they get stuck in the past, still struggling with the memories of something that happened, or wishing they’d lived differently. Other people can live their lives in the future, dreaming of a better day but failing to find it. In this talk, Iain looks at how we can look backwards and have a proper view of the past so that we can look forwards into the future that God has for us.
We’re really excited at the moment at how God’s speaking to us and leading us, and so if you’re a partner at thefaithworks, we’re inviting you to join us on Thursday 20th November at 7pm for a Partner’s Update. It’s been nearly six months since our Partner’s Party, and this will be a great opportunity to celebrate what God’s been doing, and also to hear more about how God’s leading us into his future.
If you’re a partner and can’t make the evening, do let Iain know.
If you’ve been a part of thefaithworks over the last five years, you will have shared the great privilege of knowing Pete and Bryony with us. Pete and Bryony are moving to Burnley at the end of November for the next part of their journey that God has called them to, and we want to celebrate with them as they prepare for the journey.
We hope you will be able to join us for a leaving do for them at Iain and Andrea’s house on 23rd November from 6pm onwards. Bring some drinks or nibbles with you as we gather to celebrate together.
Just to let you know that this Sunday is Remembrance Sunday. This year, we will be joining with the service at the War Memorial just a little further up Oldham Road. This will be a relatively short service, and is a little earlier than ours. So, we will be meeting at thefaithworks at 10.20am to head up to the War Memorial for 10.30. After the service there, we will be returning for breakfast together.
Don’t forget that the traffic is disrupted, so you may find it hard to drive to the church unless you’re arriving early!
Join us on 21st and 22nd November as we head over to Abundant Life Church in Bradford for another great time at their Xcel men’s conference. This is a fantastic opportunity to get great teaching and spend time with men from our church and hundreds from other churches as well.
If you’d like to find out more, click here to download the brochure for the event, or click here to visit the Xcel conference pages on the ALC web site. You can book a place for yourself on the web site.
If you can come, please let Iain know and we can travel over there together - hope you can make it!
Have you ever found it hard when God asks you to do something, and it involves you giving something up, or something changing around you that you really didn’t want changing? This can apply to you, your family or our church.
If so, don’t miss this preach by Iain as he looks at how we need to hold some things tightly and other things lightly if we’re going to fulfil God’s plans for our lives. Let this talk release you to release what God’s given you and what he’s planned out for you.
As the cold weather draws in, we’re going through another change in the seasons.
Life has seasons too - listen to this great talk as Beccy Riley shares how to understand the seasons in our lives, and how we can see God in each season.
As part of the global Stand Against Poverty event, Jane Belton shares here about God’s heart for the poor, and how we can play our part against poverty.

Ephesians 2.10 - For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
As you think on this verse this week, ask God what are the good works he has prepared in advance for you to do.
If you were with us yesterday, you will have heard about the work of a number of organisations working against injustice and slavery including International Justice Mission and Hope For Justice.
Please check out both those web sites, and also watch this promo video for the Hope For Justice event on 8th November. If you can come, please let us know ASAP at office@thefaithworks.co.uk or book in on Sunday.
2 Timothy 1:7 - For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
Timidity and fear are not from God - so lets remember what we do have and walk in our inheritance!
God is looking for people to show faithfulness to doing his will and using what he has given them. There are clear warnings from Jesus that if we don’t use what we have it will be taken away, but if we are faithful and use what we have been given, we will be given even more and enter into the Kingdom of God.
Listen to this great talk by Beccy Riley as she looks at how you can use what God’s given you.
2 Corinthians 5v17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
Let’s grab hold of who we are in Christ and believe it and live it!
Matthew 7v7 - ”Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
As we pray together this week, soak in this verse and let faith rise up in your spirit.
