Default 4th and Goal fantasy football podcast - Show 9

Welcome to 4th and Goal, hosted by Michael Stephens and Nate Davis! Back to the two-headed monster of fantasy prognostication! With Nate back this week, you’ll get some breaks from Michael’s voice (no thirty-five minute rants this time around), but never fear, there will be plenty of great information coming from both hosts this week with regards to week nine of the fantasy football season! Want to know whether you can trust Steve Slaton this week? Or, how about whether or not we think Dez Bryant will be the next Mike Williams? Answers to those questions and much more await your listening ears on Fantasy Cafe Radio! We are loving the continued and loyal support of our Twitter followers and e-mailers and can only hope that it continues to grow like it has so far! We have a couple more user contacts to read on the air in this episode, which will join our popular segments On the Fence, Against the Spread and Locks and Flops, and with all of that information at your disposal, you should again be able to crush your league with superior decision making this week! It’s time to call your best play or hit the showers, because it’s 4th and Goal!

INTRODUCTION
• Hosts: Michael and Nate

QUICK SLANTS (0:49)
• Flea Flickers – an e-mail and a tweet!
• How much can you trust Steve Slaton (this week, and going forward)?
• With a stud on bye and bad matchups around, who gets the nod at your RB2 spot?
• Wounded Ducks (3:03)
• Three running backs on the mend, and on who never seems to make the “media portion” of practice
• No shortage of big-name receivers with great matchups on this list…
• We’ve never had five injured tight ends at once before, and we have six teams on bye this week!
• IDP meat wagon – the other side of the ball just got a lot healthier…
• In the News – Slaton; losing his Edge; releasing your Chambers and a college WR that sounds a lot like Mike Williams (8:21)
• Hot Routes – game balls to last week’s top fantasy performers (10:56)
• Muffed Punts – the games of the week, not-top-10-style! (12:12)

CAFE TALK (14:07)
• With Nate back this week, the guys dig into four users’ posts from around the Cafe!
• Not the time to buy high and sell low
• With two bad RB matchups, go with the talent and upside for TDs
• This one is, in fact, a no-brainer – just don’t go thinking LaDainian Tomlinson deserves that title anymore…
• With six good/great receivers with superlative matchups, who sees the field for your fantasy squad?

WOULD YOU RATHER (16:54)
• Last week: 4-0-1, our best week of 2009 (so far)!
• Nate goes against the grain and shuns the “obvious pick” at QB
• Who gets the better end of the split carries in the Houston-Indianapolis game?
• Time for a homer pick at WR, but it’s not because of our overt love for the Seahawks (we promise)!
• He might not be the Boss of you this season, but you should let him keep that job for one more week
• Which D/ST will reign supreme, a decent D with a great matchup or a good D with an O.K. matchup? (Make sure to check out Comm1680’s defensive formula if you haven’t already – its a GREAT resource)

LOCKS AND FLOPS (20:11)
• Last week we continued the trend of missing on the locks (though it wasn’t our fault this time, we swear) and nailing our flops, going 4-5-3…yuck!
• Three guys each host loves for the upcoming week – listen up and you’ll find out who they are!
• …and three more that aren’t worth a start this week – listen more closely to this part!

AGAINST THE SPREAD (23:18)
• Michael busts out another 4-1 and Nate manages a 2-3. Both guys are hovering right around .500, with a four game advantage for Mr. Stephens.
• Three picks against the spread – some bigger spreads and home underdogs make for interesting picks this week…
• Two over/under props – the biggest and smallest lines of the week, as per usual…

CONCLUSION
• Thank yous
