What is an acoustically transparent screen? Are they commercially available?

An acoustically transparent screen is one that is micro perforated. This means it has tiny holes,
small enough that video quality is not compromised but enough holes that if you place speakers
behind the screen no audio quality is lost. Such screens are indeed commercially available and
are on demo as well. One such place is Cinebels Bangalore Klipsch lounge.

Here is a link to the room with the screen: www.cinebels.com/index.php/stores/bangalore-lavelle-

The main use of acoustically transparent screen is that, acoustically transparent screen is used for all commercial theatres use an Acoustically Transparent screen with three front loudspeakers placed behind it. All cinematic studios monitor loudspeakers are installed the same way. The sound is recorded as it is intended to be played back.
