 Anaconda (1997) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:03:06

Happy Monday, Goons!  Join Doug, Jason and Ade for this week’s 90s November flick, Anaconda from 1997!  The film was directed by Luis Llosa, who you may know as the producer of some of your favorite telenovelas, as well as director of Sniper and The Specialist.  The movie stars Ade’s idol, Jennifer Lopez, alongside a star-studded cast that includes Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Owen Wilson, Kari Wuhrer, Jonathan Hyde and the man himself, Danny Trejo. The premise is simple; we follow a documentary film crew down the Amazon river, where they are basically picked off one by one by an anaconda. All sorts of shenanigans ensue, so if you still haven’t seen this hidden gem, please watch.  It’s currently streaming on Hulu, but it is edited down, so if you want an uncut or gorier version of it, I suggest finding a copy elsewhere. If you have seen it, what do you think? Do you think the film holds up still today, or do you think the effects are crap? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!  Clive Barker's Nightbreed (1990) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:17:15

Welcome to 90's November here on Slashers Podcast!  Join Ade and Micah as they discuss Clive Barker's titular horror fantasy, Nightbreed from 1990.  The film is based on Clive Barker's novella, "Cabal," and stars Craig Sheffer, Anne Bobby, Doug Bradley, and David Cronenberg. The film follows a troubled young man who is drawn to a mythical place called Midian where a variety of friendly monsters are hiding from humanity. Meanwhile, a sadistic serial killer is looking for a patsy.  The film is clearly an allegory for marginalized communities, and was completely destroyed by the studios and marketed as a slasher film.  Find out more trivia and Ade and Micah's favorite 90's horror flicks by listening in.  What are your favorite horror films of the 90s? Let us know!  Don’t forget to show Micah and Greg some love for their podcast, Damn That’s Scary!  Evil Ed (1995) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:00:08

Happy Monday Goons!  For the month of November, your favorite hosts of your favorite podcast are tackling horror films from the ‘90s!  This week, join Jake, Doug and Jason as they review 1995s Evil Ed.  You can stream this one on Tubi, but Doug recommends you pick up the Blu Ray.  The film follows a mild-mannered film editor who is assigned to cut a series of infamous slasher films and is driven murderously insane by the miles of extremely violent footage he edits. The guys compare it with Intruder, touch a little on Barbarian, and even get into their feelings about Rick and Morty.  What are your favorite horror flicks from the 90s?  Dog Soldiers (2002) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:07:33

Another Monday means another Emmy award winning episode of Slashers Podcast!  Join Jake, Mikey, Jason and Ade as they discuss Neil Marshall’s Dog Soldiers from 2002.  If you recall, Neil Marshall blessed the horror community with The Descent, but Dog Soldiers came first, so stream this one if you haven’t yet; we highly recommend you watch before listening in.  It’s currently streaming on YoutTube and Starz. Let us know how you think Dog Soldiers stands up against the test of time as well as against other werewolf films of the early 2000s; and be sure to listen through to the end to hear what the hosts would rather watch less than this and would rather watch more than this.  Honestly, Dog Soldiers is a good film, but if you’re more like Mikey, you’ll probably hate it. We’re one fucking week away to Halloween!!! It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Be sure to check our pages daily for our 31 Days of Halloween Horror challenge where all the hosts, plus hosts of Damn That’s Scary and Frightmares Podcast join in to review a different themed horror film for each day. Happy Monday, Goons!  Welcome to today's episode of Slashers Podcast with Jake and Doug reviewing and expressing their opinions of the two most highly anticipated, yet highly controversial Halloween films of 2022, Hocus Pocus 2 and Rob Zombie's vision of The Munsters.  The originals are both family-friendly classics chock-full of spooky nostalgia.  Does the sequel to the ever-loved Hocus Pocus hold up?  Does Rob Zombie do justice to our favorite alternative "monster" family of Mockingbird Lane?  Listen here to to find out!  Trick 'r Treat (2007) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:07:23

On this Call Your Ghoulfriend edition of Slashers, Micah exposes himself within mere moments and we are not talking about his tender love organ… The film this week? The 2007 cult classic, Trick 'r Treat, by writer/ director, Michael Dougherty. We could mention that the film was also produced by Bryan Singer, but we don’t want to draw the wrong audience to this lovely little episode… But on the topic of the much-maligned X-Men director, this film features Anna Paquin, who played Rogue in like 20 things, Brian Cox from X2, and Dylan Baker from Spider-Man. You might remember the latter played Curt Connors (aka “The Lizard”) before Rhys Ifans. If you want a good horror comic, that MF murders his own son– it was gnarly. Back to Trick 'r Treat, some call it an anthology, while others a nonlinear narrative. I wonder if these turds mention Season’s Greetings on this episode. Y’know, the animated short that gave birth to Sam and a bunch of candy-corn-flavored placenta? Also, did you know that Sam is short for Samhain? Must be a big Davey Havok fan… *badumtiss* The film is a clear love letter to horror creators like John Carpenter, Mary Lambert, Brian De Palma, and tons of other who are not worth the metadata to type, but trust us, they are legit AF.  Since Jake is writing this description from the shadows, he will mention that there is a comic adaptation as well, written by Marc Andreyko and illustrated by Mike Huddleston Grant Bond, Christopher Gugliotti (who also did The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and Fiona Staples.  Prom Night 2: Hello, Mary Lou (1987) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:11:50

Happy Monday, Goons!  For our last week of Back to School here on Slashers Podcast, join Doug, Jason and Ade as they discuss Prom Night 2: Hello, Mary Lou.  This one is a guilty favorite; it’s charming, it’s gory, it’s chock full of nudity and all things lewd and lascivious. Mary Lou is one of our more progressive femme fatale slashers and she deserves all the accolades from this performance.  While part 2 doesn’t necessarily fall into the same realm as part one-- especially since it has a supernatural entity and possession-- we can tell that it clearly  borrows from our favorite horror classics, such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Carrie, The Exorcist, and more.  In addition, find out why we feel The Faculty borrows elements from this underrated 80s favorite.  Not to mention, Michael Ironside is a treasure in this one, too. PS, do you think Slashers Podcast should do an episode on all of the gory, gruesome Halloween themed Rosanne episodes?  Let us know in the poll or in the coments! Lastly, Ade would like to apologize for the small flub in mixing up Mia Goth and Mia Wasikowska.  They are both amazing actresses, but clearly, Goth is the star of Ti West’s Pearl, X, and the upcoming Maxxxine.  All Cheerleaders Die (2013) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:58:16

It's still Back to School here on Slashers Podcast, and on this special Call Your Ghoulfriends Episode, Jake joins Ade and Mikey to talk all things related to All Cheerleaders Die!  Actually, Mike and Ade do a piss poor job at convincing Jake at watching this 2013 film about angsty teenage girls who all die in a car accident and come back to life to exact revenge on their killers.  It's basically cheerleaders versus pervy football players in this Lucky McKee flick.  If you like May and The Woman, you might just like this little horror comedy.  The movie stars Caitlin Stasey, who is starring in the upcoming Smile, Sianoa Smit-McPHee, Brooke Butler, and Tom Williamson. So, Goons, will we make Jake watch this film?? Please let us know if we should subject him to this; otherwise, he gets to watch whatever the hell he wants to watch and that's no fun.  Send us a DM or an email!  Slumber Party Massacre (1982) and Slumber Party Massacre (2021) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:06:00

Happy Monday Goons and welcome to our first official Back To School episode of Slashers Podcast during spooky season September! Today Ade, Doug, Mikey and Jason go head-to-head to discuss the titular driller killer, phallic nightmare that is Slumber Party Massacre, both old and remake! Listen as we discuss the surprisingly feminist themes of 1982’s Roger Corman’s Slumber Party Massacre.  The film was written by Rita Mae Brown and directed by Amy Holden Jones - both women! However, some may view it as exploitative, so find out why we don’t see it as just that.  Syfy Channel’s 2021 remake of the same name plays on that exploitative trope, as it switches gears and shows off the boys’ bodies this time, but still preserves the dark humor and turns the franchise on its head. All in all, we find it a solid remake/reboot, so listen in to find out why. What are your thoughts on this one?  Does Slumber Party Massacre from 1982 still hold up for you today?  Do you think the remake is garbage?  Let us know in the comments!!! If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes,  please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com.  Prey (2022) - aka the Predator pre-quel | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:09:56

So for our first back-to-school episode of Slashers Podcast, Jake, Mikey and Ade delve into the titular Hulu premiere of Prey.  As you may or may not, Prey is actually a prequel to Predator, as our favorite out of this world hunter stalks and kills people and animals during the Northern Great Plains in North America in 1719. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and written by Patrick Aison and stars Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers,  Dane DiLegro, Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black. Join us to discuss how this film is not woke, how much we actually enjoyed this prequel, and how it pays homage and respects one of our most beloved franchises. On another note, find out why this film was such a curse to record, as we literally had to reschedule it dozens of times and Jake was almost electrocuted. If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes,  please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com.
