 Locked On Angels - July 11th, 2018 - Say it Ain't So, Garrett Richards | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1177

Though the Angels picked up a nice win over the Mariners, they seem to have lost Garrett Richards in the process, as the right-hander left the game early in the 3rd inning due to forearm irritation.Always perceived as having ace-type potential in a Major League rotation, Richard's inability to stay healthy has consistently hampered his progress. The latest setback comes at an inopportune time ahead of the trade deadline, as the Angels attempt to navigate the market and figure out an exact plan to execute towards contention.Kole Calhoun has also emerged as the force in the lineup we all hoped he could be, looking far more relaxed at the plate and contributing at a high level since returning from the DL. His impact is discussed as well in today's episode.  Locked On Angels - July 4th - A requiem for the Halo summer | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 821

We all entered Spring Training with youthful optimism. Mike Trout. Shohei Ohtani. A rejuvenated Albert Pujols. A healthy starting rotation. That optimism quickly ended...Here we are on the 4th of July approaching the All Star Break, and the Angels find themselves 12 games out of a playoff spot, with no real path to contention in sight, especially ahead of the trade deadline. Unfortunately, with the way this roster is constructed, there also is no real path to selling this season and retooling for 2019 due to the lack of appealing assets. This 4th of July marks a disappointing day for Halo fans...Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @LockedOnAngels and subscribe to the podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, and Google Play.Learn more about your ad choices.  Locked On Angels - June 27th, 2018 - Things are getting ugly... | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1373

After another blowout loss to the Red Sox, the Angels find themselves well behind the Mariners for the final playoff spot in the American League. All is not lost for the Halos, as in the month of July along, they play the Mariners 9 times, including 6 times before the All Star Break. However, now, you are forced to win each of those series because of the immense road to contention that lies ahead. It all starts by salvaging a game at Fenway Park and relying on major performances from Andrew Heaney and Jaime Barria.Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @LockedOnAngels and subscribe to the podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, and Google Play.Learn more about your ad choices.  Locked On Angels - June 26th, 2018 - We Royally Need Help | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1580

Lucas Sardo makes his Locked On Angels debut, and recaps the ugly offensive showing in Kansas City, and how Mike Scioscia made (another) terrible coaching decision. We then transition to our Down On The Farm segment, where we take a quick look at how we can find somebody to fill the amazingly small shoes that Chris Young is going to leave behind once he gets DFA'd.Finally, we'll travel with the team to Boston to figure out how to win a series against one of baseball's best teams.Don't forget to follow the show on Twitter @LockedOnAngels and subscribe to the podcast on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, and Google Play.Learn more about your ad choices.  Locked On Angels - June 25th, 2018 - State of the rotation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1299

With Garrett Richards slowly moving his way back into the rotation, Andrew Heaney and Tyler Skaggs have had to shoulder the load and help the Angels tread water.Imagine in spring training if I told you Felix Pena and John Lamb would both be members of the starting rotation. What would you guess the Angels' record would be? Below .500? Completely out of the playoff race? More than likely, it'd be both. Yet, despite a sort of Murphy's Law effect on this roster when it comes to injuries, the Angels remain the next closest team to a playoff spot in the American League, albeit with some work to do moving forward.Studs and Duds of the Weekend are also revealed, as well as a Shohei Ohtani update.  Locked On Angels - June 19th, 2018 - Optimism with Shohei Ohtani | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1369

The Angels provided an update on Shohei Ohtani's progress from his Grade 2 UCL sprain, stating they were "optimistic" about his recovery to this point.Mike Scioscia did still state that Ohtani would be reevaluated in 2-3 weeks, leaving his pitching future still up in the air as far as this season is concerned. Scioscia did at least mention that Ohtani swinging a bat does not effect his sprained elbow ligament, which bodes well for his placement in the lineup later this season, even if he does not pitch. The Halos could sorely use his presence in the middle of the order very soon.Tuesday also provides a Down on the Farm report, with updates on Jo Adell and Jose Suarez.  Locked On Angels - June 18th, 2018 - The Disabled List of Anaheim | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1454

As Andrelton SImmons returned from a trip to the disabled list, he entered a very unfamiliar lineup from when he left.Garrett Richards, Nick Tropeano, Zack Cozart, and Jim Johnson all were sent to the DL just before the weekend, leading to a couple of rough losses for the Halos in Oaklan, dropping 2 out of 3 to the Athletics. Now, the team finds themselves 8 games out of a playoff spot, despite having the 6th best record in the American League. As bleak as things look, the path to a full rebuild isn't rosy either, leaving Billy Eppler with only one logical route...Studs and Duds from the weekend are also revealed in today's episode, before previewing the quick two-game set against the Diamondbacks.
