The Gift of Whiskey and The Surfer News on LOTR Father Al explains that we need to have a special love for our fellow Christians. - Tue. Mar. 12 Father Al explains how to be ready to give His prophetic word. From Presentationministries.com We go Deep into Mystical Families with Historic Lore which may or may not be 100 or so years off. Seek Prophecy The Lord commands us to set our "hearts on spiritual gifts — above all, the gift of prophecy" (1 Cor 14:1). We may or may not have the gift of prophecy but we are obligated to seek it eagerly. Prophecy is part of the foundation of the Church (Eph 2:20). He or she "who prophesies builds up the Church" (1 Cor 14:4). A prophet speaks to the Church for its upbuilding, encouragement, and consolation (1 Cor 14:3). Prophecy is one of the ministries that equips the saints to build up the body of Christ (Eph 4:11-12). "Without prophecy the people become demoralized" (Prv 29:18). "Indeed, the Lord God does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants, the prophets" (Am 3:7). Without a prophet, we don't know what to do (1 Mc 4:46). Without prophecy, we remain dead, dry bones (Ez 37:4). If we despise prophecy, we stifle the Spirit (1 Thes 5:19-20). "Would that all the people of the Lord were prophets!" (Nm 11:29) Would that all the people at least seek above all the gift of prophecy! Stammering, shifting tones to hit different never voters. Benedictine Fast is going well, down a Belt Loop, just like Jesus wants. Saint of the Day Mar 11 - St Aengus (Oengus) (d. c. 824) Summary of St Aengus (Oengus) was a monk in Clonenagh, County Laois who came to the monastery of Tallaght at the end of the eighth century during the abbacy of Maelruain to spend a period under his direction. He was renowned for his devotion to both foreign and native saints, and composed two Martyrologies. He returned to Clonenagh, where he became both abbot and bishop. He died about 830. martyrologytallaghtThe image shows a page of the manuscript of The Martyrology of Tallaght, in which St Aengus collaborated. He was part of a reform movement in Irish monasticism in the 8th and 9th centuries that undertook more austere forms of prayer, penance and fasting. It was called the Culdee movement, from Céilí Dé, meaning “the companions or intimates of God”. Patrick Duffy traces Aengus’s life. Early years Aengus was born at Clonenagh, Co Laois, educated there by St Fintan who is noted for his austere tradition of monasticism, and died there. After his training Aengus first was a hermit at Dysert Beagh and later at Dysert Enos, where he became so well-known for his austerities of prayer, penance and fasting that people called him a Céile Dé, a companion or intimate of God. aengusSojourn at Tallaght So many came to visit him that he eventually sought refuge in the monastery of St Maelruain of Tallaght, where at first he concealed his identity and great knowledge. But his talent was discovered when one day he went to the aid of a young monk student frustrated at a particular lesson. Martyrologies Maelruain and Aengus collaborated on The Martyrology of Tallaght (see image above). After Maelruain’s death (c. 792) Aengus returned to Clonenagh, where he became abbot and bishop. He later wrote his own Féilire or Festilogium, a calendar of saints, in metrical form. It became one of the chief sources of information for the early Irish saints. Céilí Dé movement Both Aengus and Maelruain are regarded as the founders of what came to be known as the Céilí Dé movement, a reform which sought a return to a purer and more ascetical form of monasticism. The Céile Dé In the Past ~ The Monastic Life Ask most Gaels in Scotland or Ireland about the Céili Dé (plural) - sometimes referred to in English as the Culdees - and they will tell you about the men and women who walked the edge where early Celtic Christianity blurred into its Foster-Mother, Druidism; their history blurred into myth-story; their saints were often Gods or Goddesses... Some legends say they were originally Druids who foresaw the coming of The Christ Consciousness and welcomed 'Rìgh nan Dùil' - The King of the Elements - into the world, long before the first missionary ever set foot on British soil. The Rule of Céili Dé was built upon the indestructible foundation of "obedience to the voice in the deepest part of every heart - the Christ within". Today ~ The Order in Scotland... and the World-wide Community The 21st Century Céile Dé Tradition still walks that same edge, promoting an esoteric understanding of the naturally poetic and unselfconscious mix of 'Christian' and 'Pagan' that remains the hallmark of the Celtic Soul. Today, we honour our spiritual ancestors by protecting the integrity of our tradition, whilst imparting it in a form viable for anyone who is ready, willing and able to be part of a dedicated community, called the 'Caim' (the 'Circle of...

Mar 7 – Father Al's Minefield, The Miracle of Sobriety and Saints Perpetua and Felicity | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3010

Father Al is hands down one of my favorite parts of my day. He is able to speak directly into my experience and always on time. The Passion, The Tone, The Tempo and the power of his Words even though they were recorded some more than 2 decades ago, they ring as true and as evergreen today as Ever. www.presentationministries.com We play the Audio from Father Al's Show from March 6th. Father Al talks about Fasting and Demons and how it connects to Lent. Father gives encouragement to fast during lent and clean out the demons in our life. This is probably my Favorite Thing I was a part of in the last year. Mar 7 – Saints Perpetua and Felicity (3rd cent.) 07 March, 2012 Their execution was intended as entertainment for the crowd, some spectators, inspired by the martyrs' fearlessness, became converts to Christianity. Summary of Ss Perpetua and Felicity, Martyrs. Perpetua and Felicity (believed to have died in 203 AD) were Christian martyrs of the 3rd century. Vibia Perpetua was a married noblewoman, said to have been 22 years old at the time of her death, and mother of an infant she was nursing. Felicity, a slave imprisoned with her and pregnant at the time, was martyred with her. They were put to death along with others at Carthage in the Roman province of Africa, during the reign of Septimius Severus. Perpetua &Felicity Perpetua and Felicity are two women who were martyred in the city of Carthage in North Africa (present-day Tunisia) and received great veneration from the 4th century onwards. The image shows them exchanging the kiss of peace in the arena as they are about to be martyred by wild beasts. Their names are included in the First Eucharistic Prayer (Roman Canon). Patrick Duffy summarises what is known of them. The Passion of Saints Perpetua and Felicity is a journal by the 22-year old Perpetua, who had given birth to a son a few months before. It tells of her trial and imprisonment and was continued by a contemporary who described Perpetua’s martyrdom in the arena. It was read almost like the Scriptures in the liturgies of north African churches. It is a rare surviving document written by a woman in the ancient Church. Their feast was commemorated in all early calendars and martyrologies. Background Perpetua was a young married woman of twenty-two and Felicity a slave-girl, far advanced in pregnancy. They were still catechumens when they were arrested at Carthage (near Tunis in present-day Tunisia) with four male catechumens under an edict of Emperor Septimius Severus (193-211) that forbade fresh conversions to Christianity. They were all baptised while they were kept under guard in a private house awaiting execution. No fudge, no compromise Perpetua1Perpetua’s father urged her to renounce her faith and save her life and that of her baby. “Father,” she answered, “do you see this vessel – waterpot or whatever it may be? Can it be called by any other name than what it is?” “No,” he replied. “So also I cannot call myself by any other name than what I am – a Christian.” Asked to offer a sacrifice for the prosperity of the emperors, she refused. When asked, “Are you a Christian?” she replied, “Yes, I am,” and so condemned herself to death. Perpetua has dreams of encouragement A few days before the festival games, at which the martyrs would face wild beasts in the colliseum, Perpetua had a dream in which she was transformed into a man, and engaged in unarmed combat with an Egyptian (signifying the devil). “I was lifted up into the air and began to strike him as one who no longer trod the earth… I caught hold of his head and he fell upon his face; and I trod on his head,” she dreamt. The other captives also had visions, which fortified their courage. Felicity gives birth in prison Meanwhile, Felicity, fearing she would not have a martyr’s death with the rest, because Roman law forbade the execution of pregnant women, prayed her child would be born while she was still in prison. It was. A Christian couple...

 Mar 6 – St Colette | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1153

Mar 6 – St Colette (1381-1447) 06 March, 2012 Colette gave herself to prayer and penance, and like St Francis, had a deep devotion to Christ's passion as well a love and care for animals. Colette sought a radically austere life after the example of St Francis and St Clare. She became the one who restored the Poor Clares to the original Rule of St Clare. At the heart of that Rule is radical poverty: even the community does not own anything. Patrick Duffy tells her story. coletteHer birth Colette was born in Corbie in Picardy, France, where her father Robert was a carpenter at the Benedictine abbey. As both her father and mother were advanced when their first and only daughter was born, they called her Nicolette in honour of St Nicholas (6 Dec), to whose intercession they attributed her birth. In search of her vocation Colette received a primary education and then lived at home almost as a solitary, praying, doing manual work and teaching catechism. By the time she was 17, both her parents had died, leaving her in the care of the abbot of Corbie. Unsure of what she should do, Colette first tried a group of Béguines who served the local hospital, then a community of Urbanist Poor Clares (observing the Rule of St Clare as revised by Urban IV) and lastly the Benedictines. But none of these was strict enough for her. A recluse like Julian of Norwich (1404-06) A Franciscan priest advised her to join the Franciscan Third Order and take up the life of a recluse, like Julian of Norwich (1342-1416). So at 22 she became enclosed in a room attached to a church for two years. Two faithful friends saw to her needs, while she gave herself to prayer and penance, looked after the church linen and mended the clothes of the poor. Many visitors were attracted to her because of her reputation for holiness. She communicated with them through a grille. At times she was in joy and at times in desolation. Vision of St Francis asking her to reform his orders One day she had a vision of St Francis prostrate at the feet of Christ begging Colette be given for the reform of the nuns and friars of his order. This seemed to her a great temptation, but eventually when she saw it was the right thing to do, she consented. Professed a Poor Clare by Benedict XIIIColette2 An observant Franciscan, Henri de Baume (1367-1440), from a friary in Savoy was led to visit her and with his help she went to Avignon to meet Benedict XIII (Pedro de Luna), an antipope, but regarded by the French as legitimate, who received her with great kindness. Deeply impressed, she professed in his presence her vows according to the Rule of St Clare and he appointed her superior of all (Poor Clare convents. Picture to the right is of a modern Colettine.) The Colettines The first house she was able to reform was that of Besançon, but others, especially in Picardy and Savoy, strongly opposed her. She founded seventeen other houses of strict observance in France and Belgium. She also communicated with others in Italy who were working for the reform of the Franciscans, such as St Bernardine and St John of Capistrano. The followers of the Poor Clares which she reformed are known as the Colettines, as distinct from the Urbanists (see above). Colette, like St Francis, had a deep devotion to Christ’s passion as well a love and care for animals. Death and influence Colette died at Ghent in 1447 and was canonised in 1807. One of their convents is Ty Mam Duw, at Hawarden in Deeside, Wales. See www.poorclarestmd.org

 Mar 5 – St Kieran of Saighir | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 904

Mar 5 – St Kieran of Saighir (6th cent.) 05 March, 2012 Kieran (Irish Ciarán) of Saighir is known as the "first-born of the saints of Ireland" kieranSt Kieran’s mother came from Cape Clear in Co Cork, his father from Ossory. Kieran was one of the pre-Patrician saints of Ireland. Traditions say he went to Rome, was ordained by the Pope and sent back to Ireland by Patrick. He is called ‘the Elder’ to distinguish him from St Ciarán of Clonmacnoise. Patrick Duffy tells his story. The Lives Kieran (Irish Ciarán) of Saighir is known as the “first-born of the saints of Ireland”. Most of what we know about him comes from various Lives which were written down much later, so that while they are primarily intended to edify and entertain, it cannot either be concluded or excluded that the Lives reflect what actually happened. Kieran, Ailbe, Declan and Ibar In one of the Lives of Ciarán it is claimed that “before Patrick there were none to maintain faith and belief in Ireland but Kieran, Ailbe, Declan and bishop Ibar”. These four were from the southern half of the country and this tradition may reflect faith interaction with Christians of south Wales before St Patrick came to Ireland. Fostered on Cape Clear Kieran’s father belonged to the Osraighe. On a trip to the southwest of Ireland he met a woman called Liadán, who belonged to the Corca Loegde in southwest Cork. Kieran was born of their marriage and, according to the Lives, was fostered on Cape Clear, where there are many monuments dedicated to him. Kieran coming back from Rome met Patrick going there Kieran set out for Rome, where he was baptised and studied scripture there “under the abbot of Rome”. On his way back to Ireland it is said he met St Patrick, who told him exactly where to found his settlement, giving him a bell which would only ring when he found the place. This turned out to be Saighir Chiaráin, near the village of Clareen about four miles south-east of Birr, Co Offaly. Kieran 2The animals his first monks Like John the Baptist, Kieran is a wilderness figure, dressed in the skins of wild animals. Another story is that he blessed a well so that “it had the taste of wine or honey for everyone who drank it got drunk as well as filled”. It is said that his mother Liadán came with some women and established a community at Saighir also. Saighir Chiaráin Saighir Chiaráin was the chief church of the Osraighe for some time. There is a monastic site with sacred well and the saint’s bush still very popular at the place near Clareen in Co Offaly. For more see. However, ecclesiastically Seir Kieran seems to have been superseded by the later monastic foundation of St Canice at nearby Aghaboe. And it was Canice who was to be the patron of the church established by the Normans in the city of Kilkenny. This later became St Canice’s cathedral in Irishtown, Kilkenny, presently held by the Anglican Church of Ireland. Kieran's collegeSt Kieran’s College, Kilkenny In the twelfth century the Canons Regular of St Augustine were established at Saighir Kieran. After the penal times, in 1782, Bishop John Thomas Troy of Ossory (later archbishop of Dublin) established a Catholic diocesan seminary, St Kieran’s College, in Kilkenny. The motto he gave it was: Hiems transiit, a quotation from the Song of Songs applied to the passing of the winter of the Penal Laws in Ireland. When the Catholic cathedral was built in 1843, although it was called St Mary’s, it also has Kieran as its secondary patron and Kieran is the patron saint of the Catholic diocese of Ossory.

 Mar 4 – St Casimir | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 610

Mar 4 – St Casimir (1458-84) 04 March, 2012 Casimir was viceroy of Poland, and from 1481 to 1483 administered the state with great prudence and justice. Summary of St Casimir of Poland Born at Krakow (Poland) in 1458; died in Lithuania on this day in 1484. Though a young prince of Poland, he preferred peace to being a soldier. He chose celibacy over marriage and favoured prayer and penance rather than royal privilege. Noted for his generous life of austerity and devotion. Casimir Although he lived in a world where he had to conform to the expectations of his father, Casimir was aware of other priorities – the love of God – and these were what he followed. In 1948 Pope Pius XII named him as patron saint of all youth. He was also the patron saint of Poland Patrick Duffy tells his story A pious youth Casimir born in 1458, was the second son of King Casimir IV of Poland. Tutored from childhood by a holy and modest man, Fr John Dlugosz of Cracow, the historian of Poland, he grew up as a devout and pious youth. When he was thirteen his father, at the request of one Hungarian faction, sent his son at the head of a large army to be king of Hungary, but at the border Casimir turned back and, to avoid his father’s anger, went to do three months penance to the castle of Dobski near Cracow. His preference for a life of religious retirement Influenced again by Fr John Dlugosz, he was reluctant to take up arms especially against Christians who were being pressed by the Turks. He also refused to marry a daughter of Emperor Frederick III and preferred a life of celibacy, religious retirement and penance. Viceroy of Poland His elder brother, Ladislaus, had by now become king of Bohemia, so his father initiated him into public life and when in 1479 the king went to Lithuania for five years arranging affairs there, Casimir was viceroy of Poland, and from 1481 to 1483 administered the state with great prudence and justice. He promoted peace and the unity of Western Europe. Died en route to Lithuania He became ill with a lung disease, which may have been due to his fastings and mortification. While on a journey to Lithuania, he died at the court of Grodno, 4 March 1484. and was buried in the chapel of the Blessed Virgin in the cathedral of Vilna. st-casimir-church-Didzioji. St-Casimir Church-Didzioji. Veneration After his death he was venerated as a saint, because of the miracles reported at his tomb. He was canonised in 1522 by Pope Adrian VI and was named patron saint of Poland and Lithuania in 1602. In 1948 Pope Pius XII named him as patron saint of all youth.

Patrick Duffy […] Katherine drexelAn American of Austrian origin, Katharine Drexel (canonised by John Paul II in 2000) inherited a fortune, but chose to spend it on the education and spiritual needs of Afro- and native Americans. She also founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament to work for the indigenous and black population and lived a long life of devotion. Patrick Duffy tells her story. Of a banking family – loving and Catholic Born in Philadelphia of a banking family of Austrian origin, Katharine was the second of three daughters. Her own mother died shortly after she was born, and two years later her father re-married. Her step-mother Emma Bouvier was particularly loving and the family was devoutly Catholic and well-educated. Her step-mother spent large amounts of money each year on the care of the poor in Philadelphia city. Fr James O’Connor visiting in their home A frequent visitor to the home was an Irish-born priest, Fr James O’Connor, who was teaching in the seminary at Philadelphia. He was concerned with the physical and educational poverty of the native Americans (so-called Indians) and worked hard to improve their condition. Travels in Europe and the north-western states Katharine travelled to Europe three times. Seeing the house of Catherine of Siena awakened in her an interest in religious life. She spoke of her interest to Father O’Connor, who advised a prudent delay. Later when he was appointed vicar apostolic of Nebraska, Katharine visited him in the north-west herself and saw the plight of the native peoples at first hand. Audience with the Pope At this time the Canadian authorities had already honoured their agreements with native peoples, but the American authorities did not. Some time later at an audience with Pope Leo XIII in Rome, Katharine asked him to send more missionaries to Wyoming to help the now Bishop James O’Connor. The Pope replied, “Why don’t you become a missionary yourself?” When she got home that was what she did. But first she and her sisters, Elizabeth and Louise, founded a Drexel Chair of Moral Theology at Washington University (DC). Education for native and African Americans Katharine entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Mercy in Pittsburgh and went through the formation process, nursing the sick in the Mercy hospital. In 1891 twelve postulants joined her religious congregation to work for the education and spiritual needs of native and African Americans. Even though she lived under a vow of poverty, she was a one-person administrator of $400,000 a year, which was the interest from a trust fund set up for her by her father before he died. A school for native Americans in New Mexico Katharine opened her first mission school for native Americans at Sante Fe in New Mexico in 1894. This was followed by additional schools for native Americans west of the Mississippi and schools for blacks in the South. In the large cities like New York, Chicago and Boston there was a demand for her nuns. She became known as “Mother Drexel” and in 1915 she established Xavier University in New Orleans – the first black university in America. She forbade any mention of her name when it was dedicated. Later years When Katharine was seventy-six, she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and had to retire from active administration. When she died in Philadelphia in 1955 aged ninety-seven, her pall bearers represented several races. For the last twenty years she lived a life of prayer in a wheelchair. Her congregation – originally called the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament for Indians and Coloured...

 Mar 2 – St Chad | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 213

Thje venerable Bede considered that Chad’s two years as bishop were decisive in christianising Mercia which covered virtually the whole of central Britain. CHADOne of four brothers who were monks and priests, Chad was trained in the Celtic tradition by St Aidan of Lindisfarne. He ministered in many places to the Anglo-Saxon Church and eventually set up the episcopal see of Lichfield in central England. He is patron of Birmingham archdiocese and cathedral. Patrick Duffy tells his story. Training at Lindisfarne and in Ireland Trained by St Aidan at Lindisfarne, Chad and his older brother Cedd were Anglo-Saxon youths educated at the Celtic monastery of St Aidan at Lindisfarne. They had two other brothers who were also monks and priests, Caelin and Cynibil. After the death of St Aidan, Chad went for some time to Ireland for monastic formation with his friend Egbert (also a saint – 24 April) before he was ordained a priest. Abbot at Lastingham Cedd had founded a monastery at Lastingham in Yorkshire and as he was now on mission to the East Saxons, Chad took over from him as abbot. Oswiu, king of Northumbria, chose Chad to be his bishop in Northumbria and placed Wilfrid as bishop in neighbouring Deira with his see at York. chad3Bishop at York – invalid ordination While Wilfrid was away for almost three years in Compiègne in the north of France to receive episcopal ordination, Oswiu chose Chad for York. But because of the shortage of bishops in England, Chad had allowed himself to be ordained by dubious British bishops and when the new archbishop of Canterbury, Theodore, arrived Chad’s ordination was deemed invalid. Re-consecrated for Mercia with his see at Lichfield Chad’s reply according to the Venerable Bede was: “If you decide that I have not rightly received the episcopal ordination, I willingly lay down the office; for I have never thought myself worthy of it, but under obedience, I, though unworthy, consented to undertake it.” He went back to his monastery at Lastingham. Impressed by Chad’s humility, Theodore quickly re-consecrated him as bishop of Mercia, which covered virtually the whole of central Britain, and he set up his see at Lichfield. He built a monastery near his cathedral where he enjoyed God in solitude with the seven or eight monks he had with him. Travelling on foot Chad 2Chad continued to journey on foot instead of horseback, no matter how great the distance involved. The horse was regarded in Chad’s tradition as a symbol of power and might. St Aidan was celebrated for giving away to the poor a horse he received as a gift from the king of Northumbria. Chad’s insistence on walking was rejected by Theodore. He ordered Chad to use a horse for long journeys. Bede tells us that there was a direct confrontation about the issue and that Theodore actually lifted Chad into the saddle. Chad worked in Mercia and Lindsey (Lincolnshire) for only two and a half years before he too died during a plague. Yet Bede could write in a letter that Mercia came to the faith and Essex was recovered for it by the two brothers Cedd and Chad. In other words, Bede considered that Chad’s two years as bishop were decisive in christianising Mercia. Patronage St Chad is the patron saint of the Catholic archdiocese and the Catholic cathedral of Birmingham.  Mar 1 Saint David of Wales | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 537

Saint David of Wales’ Story David is the patron saint of Wales and perhaps the most famous of British saints. Ironically, we have little reliable information about him. It is known that he became a priest, engaged in missionary work, and founded many monasteries, including his principal abbey in southwestern Wales. Many stories and legends sprang up about David and his Welsh monks. Their austerity was extreme. They worked in silence without the help of animals to till the soil. Their food was limited to bread, vegetables and water. In about the year 550, David attended a synod where his eloquence impressed his fellow monks to such a degree that he was elected primate of the region. The episcopal see was moved to Mynyw, where he had his monastery, now called St. David’s. He ruled his diocese until he had reached a very old age. His last words to his monks and subjects were: “Be joyful, brothers and sisters. Keep your faith, and do the little things that you have seen and heard with me.” Saint David is pictured standing on a mound with a dove on his shoulder. The legend is that once while he was preaching a dove descended to his shoulder and the earth rose to lift him high above the people so that he could be heard. Over 50 churches in South Wales were dedicated to him in pre-Reformation days. Reflection Were we restricted to hard manual labor and a diet of bread, vegetables and water, most of us would find little reason to rejoice. Yet joy is what David urged on his brothers as he lay dying. Perhaps he could say that to them—and to us—because he lived in and nurtured a constant awareness of God’s nearness. For, as someone once said, “Joy is the infallible sign of God’s presence.” May his intercession bless us with the same awareness! The king lived in the 7th century in Northumbria: he brought St Aidan to Lindisfarne and his feast is on 5th August. The monk, of danish origin, lived in the 10th century and became bishop of Worcester, and later archbishop of York; his feast is on 28th February. It is about the latter that Patrick Duffy writes here. A monk of Danish family Oswald was of a Danish family and was brought up by his uncle Oda, who sent him to the Benedictine abbey of Fleury-sur-Loire to become a monk. Bishop of Worcester When Oswald returned to England as a priest in 958/9, he worked for another Danish patron, Oskytel, who had recently become archbishop of York. His activity for Oskytel attracted the notice of Saint Dunstan, then bishop of Worcester and in the process of moving to become archbishop of Canterbury. Dunstan persuaded King Edgar to appoint Oswald bishop of Worcester in his place in 961. Founding monasteries Oswald founded a number of monasteries at Westbury-on-Trym (near Bristol), at Ramsey (in Cambridgeshire) in collaboration with Ethelwold, bishop of Winchester and Pershore and Evesham (in Worcestershire). He also succeeded in gradually changing the cathedral chapter in Worcester from priests to monks, supposedly because the clergy would not give up their wives. oswald 2Archbishop of York In 972 Oswald became archbishop of York, and was able to bring the Abbot and other monks of Fleury to York to teach for a number of years. Death and memory But Oswald also held on to the diocese of Worcester, presiding over both dioceses. And it was at Worcester that on 29th February 992 he died, while he was washing the feet of the poor, a practice that had become his daily custom during Lent. He was buried in the Church of St Mary at Worcester. His feast is celebrated on 28th February. He is closely associated with other monks who became bishops – like St Dunstan (909-988) and St Ethelwold (908-984) – in restoring monasticism in England.
