 Resident Evil 2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:16:22

The Playstation One is one of our favorite consoles of all time. It had a massive game library featuring iconic JRPGs like Final Fantasy 7, it introduced us to the first 3D game in the Metal Gear franchise and the graphical improvement over previous consoles meant developers could create new stories and experiences that weren’t so great in the past. In 1996, Capcom released the first Resident Evil game to the masses and - aside from learning about the master of unlocking - it showcased the potential for a new kind of video game. Then, in 1998, they released it’s sequel, Resident Evil 2 and it reached mainstream appeal and many kids - like us at the time - fought against both zombies and the tank controls. This game was so universally praised that Capcom’s releasing a complete remake of it in 2019, so naturally we had to go back in time and re-experience this game or play it for the first time here on A Cast To The Past!  --- Social media --- Twitter: https://twitter.com/acasttothepast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acasttothepast/ acasttothepast@gmail.com

Super Mario Bros. The Movie | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:05:36

The 80’s was a decade filled with incredible movies, music and the rise of popular video games that are still talked about today. Nintendo worked on many projects that lead to people recognizing the true potential of video games. Even more so, they demonstrated they were capable of developing iconic characters. Like our favorite plumber, Mr. Mario Mario. In his games he was on a quest to save the Princess by defeating the evil King Koopa. Millions of people enjoyed playing as the Italian plumber turned hero. So much so that it peaked the interest of the film industry. In 1993 we would get a live-action adaptation of the games, starring Bob Hoskins as Mario and John Leguizamo as Luigi. It was a terrible movie that the critics hated, fans resented, did poorly in the box office and Nintendo pretends it never existed, so naturally we have to talk about it. --- Social media --- Twitter: https://twitter.com/acasttothepast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/acasttothepast/ acasttothepast@gmail.com
