Zhana: On Surviving Cancer | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Zhana is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show. Zhana shares with us her journey from when she was first diagnosed with cancer to surviving cancer and how that led to her writing her books.  I assure you, you need to click play now to listen to this most intriguing conversation with Zhana. There’s also a giveaway sponsored by Barracudas Activity Day Camps. If you enjoy listening to this podcast, please consider supporting it About Zhana Zhana is the author of many books and ebooks, including Secrets of Manifestation, Book Marketing Genius and Write Your Book in Two Days. She has recently launched her new Violet Flame Healing audio series. Zhana’s books can be found on her website by clicking here. Here’s Zhana’s message to the listeners of this episode: Who – When you become a self-publisher, the “Who” is you! You are responsible for everything. You are responsible for the editing, marketing, all aspects of publishing. The “Who” can also be an editor. If you are not confident and highly skilled in the areas such as spelling, grammar and punctuation, you need to hire an editor who can make sure your book looks professional. And, of course, the “Who” are your readers and your street team. More about building your street team below. What – The “what” is your material. I write books about self-help, mind/body/spirit, achieving your goals, etc. If you write nonfiction, you need to focus on what material will help your readers. What will help them to achieve their goals? Where – Self-publishing is everywhere now. There are so many online platforms. Lulu.com is a platform where you can self-publish for free and Amazon has its own platform, CreateSpace, as well as Kindle Direct Publications (KDP). There are also other platforms where you pay for services such as distribution to libraries and promoting your work to radio stations. So you need to decide what your priorities are. How – There is a lot of information on how to market your book in my free ebook Book Marketing Genius. Book Marketing Genius focuses on how to build your street team. Your street team is a group of people who know and love your work. They are both a focus group, while you are writing your book, and a fan club who can help you to promote your work. They can write reviews for you, they provide a great source of feedback and help you reach your readers. Book Marketing Genius also contains interviews with two book marketing geniuses, John Kremer, author of 1,001 Ways to Market your Book, and Alinka, author of How I Sold 80,000 Books. They reveal some of their book marketing secrets and strategies. As a self-publisher, you can utilise online platforms, and you also have the choice to publish your book yourself, for real. This is REAL self-publishing. Type up a Word document and, when it’s ready, upload it to a free platform such as Amazon KDP or Lulu.com. This is real self-publishing. Once your work is online, you need to market it. You can use content marketing, for example, blogging to promote your work. Or you can pay a publicist. If you are marketing online, you can, for example, hire people on Fiverr.com to help you attract traffic to your book and your blog. When Timing can be important. For example, if you are writing about the May or August Bank Holidays, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kwanzaa – any public holiday – this is a good time to release your book. If you are writing about how to pass your exams, release your book at a time when students are preparing for exams. Use any type of tie-in that is relevant to your book. Because I write books about self-help, mind/body/spirit,

She also is continually building her cookware line as well as her fiction series. When not writing or sewing authentic clothing for 1830’s fur trade reenactments, she can be found managing her household (not very well), hosting themed dinner parties, reading the Economist and reference books, brainstorming with her husband, John, of 12 years, or playing with her three young children (William, aged 7; Hannah, aged 5; Jack, aged 3). She is also extremely active in her Port Washington, Wisconsin community, sitting on boards and volunteer positions throughout the city.   Giveaway by Sara Dahmen Sara is giving away to one lucky winner a Fire Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet worth $70 USD Why would you want one, you ask. The organic flaxseed oil is from North Dakota and rubbed on between each round in the flames. Cast iron is quite easy to maintain and clean, and can be used for anything from frying fish and steaks to baking a brownie recipe out of a box! It has been writing itself for the last 30 years. It is a self-help book that empowers women to take their health and their breasts back into their own hands.  Clyde McCulley: An unusual journey to becoming an author | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:06

Clyde McCulley is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show. Clyde shares with us his life’s journey from the 1940s to becoming a professor then an author. I assure you, you need to click play now to listen to all that Clyde McCulley has to say. If you enjoy listening to this podcast, please leave a review on iTunes by clicking here!   About Clyde McCulley Clyde McCulley was born in Benton, Arkansas in 1941, the last of six kids born to a father, sixty years old, and a mother of forty. Together, they tried to eek out a living on a five-acre farm with no running water and a two-holer outhouse. He was determined to go to college and pursue fine art, ultimately leading him to complete both an MFA in Painting and a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration. After working as a professor of art at several private colleges, McCulley spent twenty years as the director of the School of Art at Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute. McCulley’s memoir, “The Boy on Shady Grove Road” is a collection of 100 stories from his early years in the conservative segregated South of the 1940s and 50s. His book captures life on a little farm that was financially poor but rich in love, adventure, and imagination. Along with humour that makes many readers laugh out loud are the tender, charming, and even poetic musings of a man who recalls childhood with uncommon vividness. He has recently published a book for pre-teen (Middle Graders) “Panther Creek Mountain: The Big Adventure” It is the first book of a series and is written to show today’s kids that there was a time when kids could have wonderful adventures without the use of cell phones and video games. His characters and schemes in “The Boy on Shady Grove Road” and “Panther Creek Mountain” bring back memories to many readers, of Mark Twain’s “Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.” McCulley lives with his wife, Susan, and their cat, Shadow, in Portland, Maine, USA. You can find out more about Clyde on his website clydemcculley.com.   Giveaway – Panther Creek Mountain: The Big Adventure Clyde McCulley giveaway About The Segilola Salami Show The Segilola Salami show is hosted by Segilola Salami who is also an author, freelance writer and blogger.  Martin Kennedy: A look at the bible with smart-ass humour slathered in sarcasm | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:34

Martin Kennedy is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show. Martin shares with us how he took on the task of reading the entire Bible in preparation for a documentary he was planning to film and how that led to him writing his book He Said It, I Didn’t. I assure you, you need to click play now to listen to all that Martin Kennedy has to say. If you enjoy listening to this podcast, please leave a review on iTunes by clicking here!   About Martin Kennedy Some people express themselves through song. Some through hardcore porn. And some through high caliber weapons with laser sighting. Martin Kennedy chose the keyboard. Martin has written everything from commercials and screenplays to songs and dating profiles. He won “Best Feature” at the Oregon Film Festival for his first screenplay “Death Bed”, which he wrote and produced. He took on the task of reading the entire Bible in preparation for a documentary he was planning to film. However, once he consumed the information with the left side of his brain (obsessive-compulsive logic and reason) it compelled him to write this book with the right side of his brain (smart-ass humour slathered in sarcasm). Above all else, he champions options and choice. He is certain that his book He Said It, I Didn’t, about your book, will give you just that. You are welcome to find out more info on Martin’s book on Amazon or via your favourite book retailer   About The Segilola Salami Show The Segilola Salami show is hosted by Segilola Salami who is also an author, freelance writer and blogger.
