Stars on Suspense (Old Time Radio)

This week, Fibber McGee and Molly take a road trip to star in a radio thriller. We'll hear "Backseat Driver" (2/22/51) plus an episode of their classic radio sitcom (6/4/46).

We say goodbye to Kirk Douglas with all three of the legendary actor's performances on Suspense: "Community Property" (4/10/47); "The Story of Markham's Death" (10/2/47); and "The Butcher's Wife" (2/9/50).

This week, Loretta Young makes her only visit to "Suspense" as a sleuth in "Lady Killer" (3/2/50). Plus, she recreates her Oscar-winning role in "The Farmer's Daughter" on "The Lux Radio Theatre" (1/5/48).

This week, Agnes Moorehead returns to the podcast in "The Chain" (4/27/50) and she stars as Lizzie Borden in "The Fall River Tragedy" (1/14/52).

This week, Ginger Rogers dances her way to radio's outstanding theater of thrills in "Vamp Till Dead" (1/11/51). Plus she recreates her role as Kitty Foyle on "Academy Award" (4/6/46).

This week, Van Johnson makes his final three appearances on "Suspense" - "Salvage" (4/6/50), "Strange for a Killer" (3/15/51), and "Around the World" (4/6/53).

This week, Dane Clark - the character actor whose stage name was given to him by Humphrey Bogart - stars in "The Singing Walls" (9/2/43) and "Life Ends at Midnight" (2/17/44).

This week, we'll hear Robert Montgomery - the Oscar-nominated actor who moved into the director's chair - in two of his visits to "Suspense" - "The Lodger" (12/14/44) and "The Thing in the Window" (1/27/49).

We'll wrap up 2019 with the great Humphrey Bogart in a king-sized block of old time radio. He stars in "Love's Lovely Counterfeit" from "Suspense" (3/8/45). Plus radio recreations of "The Maltese Falcon" (7/3/46) and "Across the Pacific" (1/25/43) and a comedy visit to "The Jack Benny Program" (1/1/47).

It's a bonus holiday show! Enjoy a big screen Christmas classic on the radio as Maureen O'Hara, John Payne, and Edmund Gwenn star in "Miracle on 34th Street" from "The Lux Radio Theatre" (12/20/48).

This week, Greer Garson stars in a holiday tale to keep you in Suspense - "Twas the Night Before Christmas" (12/21/53). She also recreates her film role in a radio adaptation of "Random Harvest" (1/31/44) and a holiday installment from "Guest Star" (12/21/47).

This week, Clifton Webb pays a visit to "Suspense" in "The Burning Court" (6/14/45). Plus, he recreates his breakout film role in a radio version of "Laura" (8/20/45).

This week, Hume Cronyn returns to the podcast for two more radio thrillers: "The One Who Got Away" (11/14/46) and "Make Mad the Guilty" (6/5/47). Plus, Cronyn and his real-life wife actress Jessica Tandy star in their own comedy radio show "The Marriage."
