Aaron Brooks is a great friend of ours who has always blown us away with his calling ability. He joins us on the show to talk strategy and his method behind sounding like a real hen.
Shawn Stahl joins us again to go in depth on hunting geese out of a panel blind. Shawn helped develop the Tanglefree panel blind and has relied on the blind in many different situations. We talk about everything from concealment to decoy spreads when hunting from these blinds compared to layout blinds.
Brad and Dave discuss the reasons behind outsourcing our recent Snow Goose decoy project and the benefits that came from it.
Scott Threinen joins us on this episode to talk about true Giant Canada Geese and ends up getting us fired up about a new project. Scott is the owner and operator of Molt Gear and is out of Rochester, Minnesota.
Episode 13 | Hunter Grounds by Dave Smith Decoys
We are honored to have Jay Scott on the podcast in this episode. Along with guiding Gould turkey and world class elk hunts, Jay hosts the largest western hunting and fishing podcast. Our good friend Chris Stone joins us to talk about the excitement of hunting turkeys up close and personal, without a ground blind. Chris is a ninja when it comes to hiding in the open and minimizing movement. We also talk about gear and upcoming spring plans.
Alex Russo of Flatland Flyways joins us to talk snow geese. Alex runs a first class waterfowl hunting lodge in South Dakota and is a huge reason that we are developing a new snow goose decoy.
In this episode we dive into strategies on how to get access and approach farmers with Travis Reeser. The number one factor of having successful hunts is being where the geese want to be and a lot of times that involves asking farmers for permission to hunt. Travis is a wealth of knowledge, especially when it comes to this topic.
In this episode we're taking questions from customers and answering as many as we can. We will be doing more of these in the future, so make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram and we will post before the next series asking for your questions!
In the final episode of our three part series on band hunting, we dive deeper into more stories and tactics that will help you pick out marked birds instead of relying on luck.
In Part 2 of our band hunting series we dive deeper into tactics to be a successful band hunter and tell some stories along the way. Brad and Dave discuss the differences in techniques between a normal hunt and when you are trying to target collars or bands.
Bill Saunders, owner of Bill Saunders Calls and Big Guns Waterfowl Outfitters joins us on this episode to talk about many different elements of goose hunting. After going over a bit of history, we discuss snow goose hunting, hunting in different climates, and might even discuss the next DSD decoy project for a couple minutes.
