Episode 9: Exclusive interview with 'Game of Thrones' sound designer Paula Fairfield | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:26:35

Welcome back to A Podcast Remembers! We’ve been on a summer hiatus while we welcomed our new baby girl into the world. And even though our favorite fantasy series Game of Thrones has come to an end, there is still A LOT to talk about. For our first podcast back, we have an exclusive interview with the Emmy-winning sound designer of the series, Paula Fairfield. Paula is the talent behind those epic dragon and white walker sounds, the clash of every sword in all those epic battles, and Prince Oberyn’s eyes gushing out of their sockets from The Mountain’s thumbs. Paula shares how the sound behind the series came to life over the seasons, as well as what’s next after Game of Thrones, like the new Harley Quinn film, Birds of Prey. Enjoy our exclusive interview, and hit subscribe to get alerted for our next podcast episode, where we start to dive into George R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood book, which tells the 300 year history of the Targaryen’s rule of Westeros.

Episode 8: Here’s why the Night King won’t be at the Battle of Winterfell | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:55

The first two episodes of Game of Thrones season 8 have been setting fans up for an extended episode 3 (around an 80-minute runtime), which will of course feature the Battle of Winterfell. Several fans have said that the infamous "Red Wedding" episode was simply a rehearsal dinner leading up to 8x03, so get ready for some of your favorite characters to get the chop. But with the expected deaths comes a few surprises. At the end of 8x02, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", we saw the Army of the Dead and a fleet of White-Walkin' lieutenants—but where was the Night King? In this podcast we break down the Night King's (probable) genius plan to take both King's Landing and Winterfell, all in one fell swoop. In this episode, we break down: -The major theory around the Night King’s scheming plan to trap Dany, Jon, and the rest of our favorites in Winterfell—for good. -How Sam’s thievery of scrolls from the Citadel has been brought up a few times already in season 8. Here’s what we think is hidden in the texts that could help Dany, Jon & Co. win the Battle of Winterfell. -How a famed character from the book's could make an appearance (cough, Lady Stoneheart, cough) -Why hiding women and children in the Winterfell Crypt may not be the best idea (could the Army of the Dead raise the dead in the Crypt?!) -Where the heck Melisandre is -and more!  Episode 6: Is Jaime Lannister Westeros' real hero? This evidence says yes. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:43:21

Season 8 of Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, April 14 on HBO, and the trailer has already sent fans' theories whirling with what's going to happen to their favorite characters. Leading up to the premiere, we're going to break down the each leading character in the series: history not shown in the show (but canon), their journey from season 1 to now, and how their character's arc will end. Dare we say, fans are actually rooting for the former bad boy? In this podcast, we break down: -How King Aerys, "The Mad King", hated Tywin Lannister, and why he knighted Jaime to spite Tywin -Who Jaime was betrothed to before he joined the King's Guard (hint: It wasn't his sister-lover, but someone equally neurotic.) -Evidence that supports Jaime could be the Prince that was Promised—not Jon Snow or Dany Targaryen -The lie that Tywin made Jaime tell Tyrion -How George R.R. Martin created the character to explore the idea of redemption -and more! Subscribe to A Podcast Remembers on iTunes, and head to purefandom.com and @Pure_Fandom on Twitter.
