Welcome back to A Podcast Remembers! We’ve been on a summer hiatus while we welcomed our new baby girl into the world. And even though our favorite fantasy series Game of Thrones has come to an end, there is still A LOT to talk about. For our first podcast back, we have an exclusive interview with the Emmy-winning sound designer of the series, Paula Fairfield. Paula is the talent behind those epic dragon and white walker sounds, the clash of every sword in all those epic battles, and Prince Oberyn’s eyes gushing out of their sockets from The Mountain’s thumbs. Paula shares how the sound behind the series came to life over the seasons, as well as what’s next after Game of Thrones, like the new Harley Quinn film, Birds of Prey. The first two episodes of Game of Thrones season 8 have been setting fans up for an extended episode 3 (around an 80-minute runtime), which will of course feature the Battle of Winterfell. Several fans have said that the infamous "Red Wedding" episode was simply a rehearsal dinner leading up to 8x03, so get ready for some of your favorite characters to get the chop. But with the expected deaths comes a few surprises. At the end of 8x02, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", we saw the Army of the Dead and a fleet of White-Walkin' lieutenants—but where was the Night King? Season 8 of Game of Thrones premieres Sunday, April 14 on HBO, and the trailer has already sent fans' theories whirling with what's going to happen to their favorite characters.
