Was. Can you measure the radus drop with a base. Before declaring you’re dropping. Either as the dropper or the victim?  I said no. Ian: Like, an extra base?  Yeah, I would definitely call that a "no". Me:  That’s what I thought. Are you committed to dropping somewhere then if you say you are no matter if it means even from a different ship? Ian:  Yeah. I would say that the "commit" is actually saying "I'm doing this" and bringing your ship within the boundary of the play area in order to prep your placement. Before you do that, you are of course free to eyeball it with the range ruler. After (or rather, "as") you are preparing your placement, I would consider it perfectly valid to wiggle your ship around and then go "You know what, we're actually going to use this other ship as a drop point, instead." I would consider it the same as squadron placement. Once you take your hand off the model, you're done. Until that point, so long as you are maintaining a valid placement, you can try to figure out what is best.
