Night School

Music writer Russ Florence sits down with the Night School team to talk about his blog “Lost in the Noise”, his love for music, and writing about a song every day. Russ is also involved with Exchange Music, a music exchange program that helps bands from other countries get their start in the U.S.

Charlie Trujillo chats with the Night School team about Lettering Express, his family-owned signage shop in OKC specializing in creating vehicle wraps, custom apparel, and promotional items for companies. Charlie talks about his passion for great work, great service, and Oklahoma City.

Jill Castilla, President & CEO of Citizens Bank, sits down with the team to chat about her work with the community-focused bank and founding its music and food truck event, Heard on Hurd. Jill talks about Vault405, a coworking space opened by Citizens as a way to bring together innovators and encourage connection in the community. This year, Jill was also named one of five women in The Journal Record’s Circle of Excellence which honors Oklahoma’s female business and community leaders.

Justin Falk stopped by to chat with the team about how he and wife Audrey opened up their family-owned store, Shop Good, where they avoid "fast fashion" by sourcing ethically made products from reputable suppliers and ensuring quality first over low costs. Justin also talks about the history of the shop plus their recent move to a bigger location.

Traci Walton and Brittney Matlock talk to the Night School team about how they founded Plenty Mercantile, a shop + event space on OKC’s Automobile Alley. They talk about the selection process for goods in their store and aligning with companies who produce wares using ethically, environmentally or socially sourced materials.

Emmy award-winning recording artist Jabee Williams sits down with the Night School team to talk about hip hop, his experience in county jail, and how it helped shape his third studio album Black Future. Jabee is releasing his next album, “This world is so fragile and cruel, I'm glad I got you” in 2019 in addition to opening a new restaurant concept, East Side Poke Project on NE 23rd Street in Oklahoma City.

University of Central Oklahoma professor and freelance writer–stops by the studio to talk about her writing process and her current work. Moose was named one of AIGA Oklahoma’s Top 10 local creatives in 2017.

Plaza Walls curator Kris Kanaly sits down with the Night School team to talk about his history with art, graffiti, and how the Plaza Walls project–Oklahoma City’s premier outdoor gallery–was started. Kris is also the founder of the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate, a nonprofit dedicated to advocating and funding public art.

Scott Booker talks with the Night School team about how he got his start in the music industry, managing the rock band The Flaming Lips, and his work as CEO and Executive Director at The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM@UCO) in OKC. In 2017, Scott was invited to serve as a member of the Recording Academy’s 2017 Grammy Hall of Fame committee.

Bumbershoot PR founder Tracey Zeeck stops by the recording studio to talk about how she started one of OKC’s most revered public relations agencies and the impact it’s had on the city. In 2016, Tracey also became a children’s book author with the release of The Not In Here Story, a bestselling book about adoption.

Confidence Con founder Hannah Royce sits down with the Night School team to talk about the upcoming Tulsa Con and the opening of The HQ, a shared talents agency and creative studio in the heart of OKC. Hannah is the Chief Creative at HRCO where she specializes in creative direction, content creation, styling, and strategy.

Jason Duncan chats with the Night School team about how he got started in the coffee business. He sits down to talk about how he founded local coffee shop Cafe Evoke in 2008 and the growth of downtown Edmond.

Photographer, writer, videographer and all around nice guy Nathan Poppe stops by the studio to chat with the Night School team about his work for the Oklahoma music industry. Nathan is Editor for The Curbside Chronicle, a magazine whose initiative is to empower women and men to transition out of homelessness in OKC.

Local business owner Caleb Arter sits down with the Night School team to talk about his shop, Blue Seven. Caleb talks about how he got started with opening up a small business and how Just OK, the space within Blue Seven dedicated to Oklahoma made and themed merchandise, supports the community.

Photographer and small business owner Jordan Mobley chats with the Night School team about her latest work including the creation of Rise, a coworking space in Moore, Oklahoma that she founded with husband, Devon. Jordan also talks about how she got into phography, and the curation of OK Coffee Club, a subscription service that delivers Oklahoma coffee beans right to subscribers’ doors.
