Episode #203 Breaking the Barriers of Fear - Yeukai Business Show | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:15

Welcome to Episode #203 of Breaking Through the Barriers of Fear   In this episode, Lynda West and I discuss the “Breaking Through the Barriers of Fear”. So if you want to understand how to get yourself fired up towards your dream, gain confidence in your plans, overcome fear itself and develop an attitude of success, tune in now!   In this episode, you’ll discover: * The process of overcoming fears. What did you do? *  How did you get to the point of following your commitment towards something? * What is that one thing that you wish you knew before starting your journey? * Why is it very important to ask?   About Lynda Growing up in an abusive environment and having been previously married to an abusive man, I know the feeling of living in fear. As I began the journey to discover who I am, I realized fear had been holding me back for 51 years. Discovering who I am led to me voicing my thoughts and opinions and what transpired next was that I noticed how much of an impact I made. During the process of speaking and doing more than 3,000 videos, I gained confidence that I never even knew was missing. I noticed the more I was engaged and consistent with my audience, the more of an impact I made on their lives (which, in turn, made a huge impact on my life). Confidence = Freedom. Once I recognized the amount of positive influence I had, I committed myself to helping other people gain confidence, thereby gaining freedom in their life so they could make an even greater impact to those they serve.  Episode #63 Let’s Talk About Networking and Why It’s Not Working Out For You - Yeukai Business Show | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 34:19

Let’s Talk About Networking and Why It’s Not Working Out For You Success with networking starts with the right mindset, have you got the right attitude and skills to establish yourself in your community? Danny Lyon, a successful entrepreneur and networking expert, talks with Enlightened Entrepreneur Podcast host Yeukai Kajidori about the secrets to networking and some common mistakes every business owner needs to be aware of. Key Questions Asked What is involved in networking? What roadblocks did Dan face when getting started? How did Dan get his initial client and what are some of the lessons he’s learned from the people he was able to help over the last 18 years? How does Danny market his business or himself? What is the number one mistake people do when networking? Why is this mistake detrimental to anyone’s success when it comes to networking? What other major mistake does Dan see that business owners are doing which they can avoid? What is the right mindset for people who are going to business events?   Highlights of Lessons Learned: Key to Networking There is a high failure rate of small businesses and the reason for this is because they think that they know what they’re doing and they think that they have to do it by themselves.  One of the great aspects of networking is the fact that you don’t know everything and that there are people out there everywhere that wanna help you. Overcoming Roadblocks Biggest roadblocks most startups use is either disbelief, non-awareness, or non-admittance that your business is exactly how you create it.   The moment you learn to take credit for both the good and the bad, you will position yourself as a leader, which other people will look up to.   Secret to Getting Clients Any business that is focused on money is set up for trouble. When a business is focused on extraordinary customer experience, it’s set up for success. Because it is the customer that has all the money.  So just get off of money and get on to customers, the money comes by itself. Biggest Mistake in Networking The number one mistake people often commit when networking is they think “It’s about me,” so when they come to a networking event or join a networking group, they’re focused on themselves what they are going to get. This is much like closing all the doors at once.   The best way to focus on the customer experience is to learn to be a giver first.   We like to think that we’re interesting people and the way that we think that were interesting is by telling other people how interesting we are, when in fact the more that we get interested in another person, the more interesting we can become as we get into their world. Another mistake people usually commit is that they are not open to trying new things.

HIGHLIGHTS OF LESSONS LEARNED:   Criteria for People to Work With Find somebody that you can relate to that you admire If you can help somebody avoid doing the mistakes you’ve committed and give them some guidance, it will make you feel good knowing you’re helping someone. Marketing Business in Today’s World Alison never advertise and rarely go to networking events. What she does is she writes a lot of content, video blogs and speak in a lot of conferences. Alison provides as much value and information to people looking for help in PR by putting articles out, doing video blogs and putting it out on Linkedin and other social media such as Facebook. By putting information out, people see her as an expert. Providing value is an effective way to get business. PR Misconceptions A lot of times people say any press is good press. Yes you want press, but you never want negative press. It’s really hard to control the message the media will send out. Another misconception is that people think that a public relations expert can control what the media says. When PR experts work with reporters, they can’t give them questions, they can’t tell them how to write the story. What they could do is guide the reporters in the way they want the story to come out. Crisis Plan Everybody should have a crisis plan, especially now with social media, if you have a negative review, you need to know how to respond to it: what to do and what not to do. If you have a crisis plan in the beginning of your business, you won’t be reacting but you are in control of the whole thing and your team will know exactly what needs to happen Biggest PR Mistakes One of the things is that a lot of business owners don’t understand is the timeliness of the media. A lot of times, it’s not all about them it’s not all about the company they’re just going to be a part of a story and so while the media may be here for 20 minutes they may only use 10 seconds of your interview, and that’s okay whats more important isthat you are a part of the story. When you establish yourself as an expert the media will call you time and time again about the industry. The media really wants to tel a story they don’t want to advertise you and talk all about you. Starting Out With PR Start small and start establishing relationships with local journalists. Follow them on social media, start sharing their stories and content and email them. Start forming relationships with the local press and follow news trends in your industry. Start small,
