This week we wrap up our Lent series with a discussion of the idols we've created in our lives that help us numb out and distract us from reality. Also, EASTER IS COMING!!!
We are continuing in our Lent study this week. We recorded these episodes before Covid-19 really took root in the US, and we know most of us have probably suspended our Lenten fasts during this time, but we also believe that in times like these, we truly learn the idols our hearts are attached to and how we need God even more as they are revealed. This week we address the idols of career, success and accomplishments.

Continuing in our Lent series on idols, we explore 3 American idols- marriage/romance, parenting and politics.
This week, continuing in our Lent series, we discuss the top 3 most obvious sins and idols that show up in our lives- Sex, Money and Power. We honestly talk about some of our own struggles with these idols and dig deeper into the motivations under the surface of our worship of them. Most of what we discuss this week comes from our study of Tim Keller's book, Counterfeit Gods. We also discuss Seculosity (and will be referencing it more over the next few weeks) by David Zahl.
The 2020 Lenten season begins this week. Throughout this season on Woven, we will explore the topic of sin and idols (with a couple more light-hearted episodes thrown in). To help us kick-off this discussion, we've invited Erin Moon on to join us. If anyone can have fun while talking Lent, sin and idols, it's Erin. In this episode, we discuss the purpose of Lent, the meaning of sin and why it's important to identify the idols in our life as we approach the cross and the resurrection over the next 40 days.
