Dads Don't Know - Parenting "Unsights" From Fatuous Fathers, Kids Show Reviews

Summary: In the world of celebrity mummy bloggers, the voice of the Dad often goes unheard. Dads know stuff too, right? Or do they? Dads Don't Know takes you deep into the minds of fathers, to get their insights and real perspectives on all facets of parenting. With discussions ranging from child birth, to raising toddlers, education and much more, it is more than likely you will be shocked, appalled and perhaps offended by the revelations. The team at Dads Don't Know also believe that producers of children's television shows should be held to a higher standard. For too long, parents have been forced to sit through shows that should never have made it to air. Every episode, DDK will bring you the most accurate analysis of a kids show - it could get ugly. Hosted by Andrew Montesi, Ben "Cakes" Avery and Tom Richardson. Ben is a new Dad, and is keen to learn lessons from four-year veterans of fatherhood Andrew and Tom. All three once worked together in TV News in South Australia. Andrew is now in marketing, Ben is a police reporter and Tom is a political reporter. One thing is for sure: They should stick to their real jobs.

Ep 3: The sleep system; Thomas the Tank Engine analysis | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 00:32:03

Ben has been a Dad for all of 10 weeks, and he’s already handing out lessons on how to get your baby to sleep. This angers Tom, who has tried many tactics to get a good night sleep with his two kids. It would help if he didn’t behave like a toddler himself, and went to bed at a reasonable hour. Andrew has a daughter who sleeps perfectly every night, but a three year old who does as he pleases. He has taken the step of locking him in his room (whoa controversial). Ben, Tom and Andrew all agree on “controlled crying”, and discuss the merits and theories of the one known as: SLEEP DOCTOR. Most importantly, however, Tom reveals the political machinations of Thomas the Tank engine. He says it is a show with a dark side, influencing its impressionable audience particularly during Britain’s tumultuous Thatcher era. During this time, Tom says narrator and Beatle Ringo Starr “sold out”. Even now TTTE remains as political as ever, embroiled in controversy with the introduction of foreign engines and more female trains.  Ep 2: Child birth experiences; Fireman Sam review | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 00:34:36

To begin the Dads Don’t Know series, it was fitting to start with a raw and frank discussion about child birth. For Ben, it was only two months ago when his first child arrived and the memory of the emotion charged day is still fresh in his mind. He shares his story, including the grunts and tears. Tom recalls managing to “bash out a column” for his media employer during his wife’s labour, while Andrew enjoyed his wife’s show while snacking on pizza shapes. A key part of Dads Don’t Know is the true analysis of children’s television. Tom kicks off the regular segment with an extensive review of Fireman Sam, with grave concerns for the town of Pontypandy and juvenile delinquent Norman Price.
