Life doesn’t work out so well when we try to run the bases backwards. But when it comes to leading people to Jesus, the rules are different. Davey closes out this series teaching how when we connect with our Creator, His love compels us to point people to Christ. And pointing people to Christ, is not what we think it’s about.
When we solely rely on our own strength, abilities, and talents, we can find ourselves repeatedly stranded on 3rd base, crumbling under the pressure to perform. God wants to bring about lasting results in us and through us. But we have to learn to trust in Him first.
We can get caught in a pattern of isolation when we try to push our way through life, relationships, and careers with little regard for others. What if we chose God’s way over the world’s? What if we allowed the pain of isolation to bring forth humility and true empathy for others? What if we valued and served others more than ourselves?
Have you ever struggled with hurt so intense that you’ve wondered if you’ll be able to make it through? This week we take a break from our Home Run Life series as Davey is interviewed by Perry Noble at Newspring Church and shares his story of hurt, hope, and forgiveness.
We all want a life that could be described as a “Home Run,” but we often get thrown out before we even make it to the first base. Pastor Kevin Myers of 12 Stone Church tells us what we need to know and do to set ourselves up for a Home Run Life.
Oftentimes, we find ourselves striking out when we chase after success instead of a life of significance. So how do we develop a discipline of dependence on God when we live in a culture of independence? Davey lays out 3 things in life that are impossible to obtain outside of God.
In life, like in baseball, things just don’t work out for us when we try to run the bases in reverse order. Davey kicks off the “Home Run Life” series by presenting us with questions geared toward identifying the bases of life and connecting us with the God who created us, the one who is orchestrating the scene between the pitches.
We can all pinpoint a mess up or a hurt that caused a major setback in our lives. What if that setback was actually a setup for God to bring about a greater purpose? What if He was rewriting our story? Davey goes through the Bible revealing a devastating setback that led to the greatest setup in history.
We generally wash up before sitting down at the dinner table. But Jesus invites us to his table the way we are, mess and all. Student Director Zach Woolever reminds us that there’s nothing we can do to earn a seat at Jesus’ table, meaning there’s nothing we can do to forfeit it either.
When we refer to Jesus as the Lamb of God, do we understand the significance? In week 2 of the “Blood” series, Davey teaches how so much of the Bible points to Jesus’ fulfillment as the Lamb, leading us to the ultimate reason behind our mission (the Great Commission) as Christians.
