Introduction In this episode, we’ve got some knitting, some spinning, a little tale about how this mess got started and I am all spun up about festival season. Updates Itty bitty is now a high school graduate.  I no longer have a school aged child living in my household.  We celebrated and had lots of family in town for the event and it was fantastic Byrd visited for the festivities and she is already beck to school.  She is getting ready for an international event where she will go to Japan for a month to work on an advertising and marketing campaign for a large international company. Springtime in the Rockies hit us in full force Spin a Tale Hear me reminisce about how the podcast got started and who were my biggest influencers.   Spinning my Wheels Even though there has been a ton going on in my life, I have managed to get a little crafting done each day. Knitting I am still working on My Blue Heaven. It is a chevron shawl out of a Gradiant set I got from The 100th Sheep. I Started another pair of self-striping socks.  The yarn I am using is Ty Dy Sock by Knit One Crochet Two. I set both of those down to work on another super duper top secret project. I am knitting with a lovely yarn from Colorful Eclectic. I am thinking about doing another Flashback Sock Knit-along. I may elicit your help in deciding on a pattern. Spinning I have spun pretty regularly on the Dreaded Fleece but didn’t get much further than that. I also started a new spinning project on my Hanson Minispinner. I needed something bright and shiny to combat the weather. I started a beautiful red, orange and yellow merino and tussah silk from DaizieKnits. Love it. I found a lovely cosmetic case that is perfect for carrying my mini spinner. It is from: TriForce All Spun Up I am all spun up about travel season. Updates I have been traveling like mad.  I headed off you ski week and spent time in Breckenridge, CO.  That was followed by three days in Texas for work stuff. The day we got back from Breck, I attended my knit groups Holiday Party.  I walked away with three new books: The Knitter: Knitting Master Class, The Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible, and Japanese Knitting. Spinning my Wheels Knitting I finished that pair of Self-striping socks.  I am using Turtlepurl Striped Softshell Turtle Toes in the color way What’d You Call Me.  I used Judy’s Magic Cast On for the first time, Jeny’s Super Stretchy Bind off and an Afterthought Heal as outlined by Laura Linemann. I cast on for a new sock pattern I am working on.  I hope to have it released by Feb. 14. I got a call from Peggy from The 100th Sheep who has dyed up some fingering weight yarn in the colorway Denim for a shawl project I have in the planning stages. Spinning I have spun pretty regularly on the Dreaded Fleece but didn’t get much further than that. Sewing I did some experimenting with sewing Leather and feel pretty good that my equipment with tackle this task. I have also been swatching quite a bit.  I can’t wait to see what I come up with. Spinning I completely finished with my Olympia by Luna Bud Knits. Next, I am getting ready to finished spinning the Louet fiber on my spindle. Sewing I have the strange urge for experiment with sewing Leather. Introduction In this episode, I’ve got knitting, some spinning, a little bit of sewing, I am all spun up about some new toys I got for Christmas and I am going to put my spin on a brand I am not very pleased with. Updates December has been a great month for celebrations.  Byrd turned 21, and Christmas came and went.  Overall, we had a great family holiday season. I am planning a pattern release on January 1st.  If you hear this before Jan. 1, 2019, there will be a coupon code for use in my Ravelry Store – NewIn19 – you can use to get each pattern for $2.19. All Spun Up I got an Ashford Blending Board from Santa and I am having a blast playing with that. Spinning my Wheels Sewing I patched some jeans that failed me.  It was nice to work with Denim even though I didn’t make something new with it. I also had the chance to help Byrd finish one of her handmade Christmas gifts. Knitting I knit 11 miniature mittens out of scrap yarn… just in time for next Christmas.  I used the Mitten Ornament Patter by the Red Heart Design Team. I finished knitting on the second pattern, Ash, and am working that in Brooks Farm Mas-Acero I cast on a pair of Self-striping sock without a pattern. Spinning The am just about finished with my Olympia by Luna Bud My Sequoia Wheel is repaired and back with me. Put my Spin on it I am displeased with Lucky Brand.  One… for the poor quality of their product and two… for their anti-wool advertising. Updates I have started work.  I like my job but it definitely going to be a harder transition than expected. Happy Thanksgiving!  The holiday came and went and we have had lots of visitors over the past couple of weeks. Spin a Tale I just wanted to chat a bit about how I have found my winter heart.  I am loving all the cold weather adventures. Spinning my Wheels Spinning I finished spinning and plying the  Loop! Bump but can’t bring myself to call it done because I haven’t set it yet. The next spinning project I plan to finish is my Olympia by Luna Bud Someday I will finish my dreaded fleece … someday. I got my Sequoia Wheel back and wish I could start the project that’s on it … long story. Knitting I finished knitting my sample of my latest design, Light Ash, out of the Misty Mountain Farms Prime Alpaca DK.  It’s with my knit girls for testing. I started knitting on the second version of that pattern, Ash, and am working that in Brooks Farm Mas-Acero Other than that I have been plotting.  I have two other UFOs I want to tackle: the Fir Tree Cowl and the Eco Vest. I am getting excited about putting out my hand-knit advent calendar.  And am planning to start working on some mini mittens for more holiday decor. Introduction In this episode, I have some of my normal crafting business, a little tale for you about naming our little homestead, I am all spun up about cohesive branding, and there will probably be a little extra thrown in there somewhere. Updates I got my start date and my sabbatical is coming to an end Monday. We are facing some changes in a our family dynamic Genevieve, KnitGen on Ravelry, loved her skein of yarn from Six and Seven Fiber and handmade project bag.  She sent me a handwritten thank you card!  It made me so happy. Spin a Tale Hear all about how we were inspired to name our little farm. Spinning my Wheels Knitting I started to feel guilty because I said I finished the On The Beach Sweater by Isabel Kreamer but I hadn’t blocked it.  So I got it blocking and can’t wait for it to dry.  Now the yarn… Yuck!  Hear all about the mess of the Marr Haven Organic Merino Rambouillet Sport. Still working on the new design and still loving the garter stitch and the Misty Mountain Farms Prime Alpaca DK.  YUM!!! Spinning I finished spinning the singles on my Loop! Updates A lot has happened since the last episode.  I talk about the weather.  I got a job offer.  I have a huge checklist of tasks to get done before I start said job. All Spun Up I am spun up about the release of the Super Duper Top Secret Project.  Check out my first pattern: Aunt Maggie, available for free on Ravelry. Spinning my Wheels Knitting I didn’t start anything or finish anything but, I have been swatching like crazy for a new pattern design.  I am totally in love with garter stitch and it shows. I have taken some inspiration from the Hitchhiker Shawl by Martina Behm and the Scrappy Bias Shawl from Emily Clawson. I am also totally in love with Misty Mountain Farms Prime Alpaca DK.  YUM!!! Spinning I have managed to spin for 15 minutes each day for about the last week and a half.  Almost done with that silly bump. Other Crafty Goodness I have been taking time to work on some projects made of reclaimed wood and materials.  I tell you all about the Aspen wood slices and the fleece skirting/drying table I made from a reclaimed closet door.
