Mindi Abair is a two time Grammy Award nominated saxophonist, vocalist, author and national trustee for the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization that puts on the Grammy Awards show. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida and educated at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she graduated magna cum laude, she moved to the West Coast to pursue a multi-decade music career.

This week we have the pleasure of talking with Alice Carbone Tench. Alice is an author, blogger, mother, amateur cook and a rock-wife! We’ve been a fan of Alice from the day we discovered her incredible online presence, and have been reading everything she puts out and watching her Instagram stories ever since. Alice is kind, funny and vulnerable which makes her relatable and captivating to her growing audience. 

Joel Selvin is a San Francisco Based music critic and author known for his weekly column in the San Francisco Chronicle which ran from 1972-2009. Selvin has written almost twenty books on various aspects of pop music, including the #1 New York Times bestseller, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock with Sammy Hagar. Joel has published articles in Rolling Stone, the Los Angeles Times, Billboard and Melody Maker. He has appeared in documentaries about the music scene.

When Cynthia first met John Lennon he was an 18 year old teddy boy more interested in being class clown and playing his guitar then focusing on school work.  Both students at the Liverpool College of Art, Cynthia soon found herself looking forward to seeing him, laughing at John’s sharp wit and swooning when he’d play a tune or two after classes. It wasn’t long before they became a couple, but right from the start Cynthia realized life with John would never be simple.

In Episode 4 of ‘Art of Rock with Kosh & Friends’ our host spends an hour with friend and super producer/engineer Val Garay at Aftermaster Studios in Hollywood. Patty Schemel's story begins with a childhood surrounded by the AA meetings her parents hosted in the family living room. Their divorce triggered her first forays into drinking at age twelve and dovetailed with her passion for punk rock and playing the drums.

When Astrid Kirchherr and her friend Klaus Voorman came across The Beatles playing deep within Hamburgs red light district they were gobsmacked – rock n roll simply did not exist in Germany in 1960. Soon they began attending shows every night and Astrid, a gifted photographer, got the idea to shoot the band.

In it we talk with "advanced" vinyl collectors and find out what drives them and why, how and where they hunt and how they ended up as vinyl addicts.  In this first installment, Vinyl Snob producer Dana Berry speaks with Gavin O'Neill, a collector that curates his own specialized selection of albums from a certain era in pristine condition, mostly 1st pressing and country of origin releases.

It’s a roaring good time where Christian gets to meet one of his journalistic heroes and throws the tough questions to the grizzled reporter.
