Because we here on the show like to do our share of traveling when we can, one of our favorite guests to have on the show is Shawn Kathleen, the former flight attendant behind the Instagram account Passenger Shaming...because it shows us all the level of asshole that WAY too many people are capable of on airplanes. And what with all the holiday travel on tap, we need her more than ever!!
It's a fact: Sometimes we all have that moment in the bathroom, whether your own ot someone else's, when the payload you just dropped off won't go down the drain. What is one to do? Well, you no longer have to live in fear when there is THE POOP KNIFE!!! https://www.originalpoopknife.com/
While rapper Tech N9ne is, without question, the single most successful independent rapper in the world, he is STILL every bit a KC guy. From performing at Arrowhead and the Super Bowl celebration, to recently helping to award 105 local students $50,000 scholarships....and now, one of the most KC things of all, turning on the Plaza lights Thanksgiving night!! We caught up with Tech this morning to talk about all that and more!
As we roll into the Thanksgiving weekend, we know that dealing with that much family time is probably gonna suck...so, because we're givers...we decided to load up a couple of lucky listeners with some high dollar rubber lovin'!! It's the Adult Toy Price Is Right!! Brought to you, as always, by Moonlight Adult Boutique
From the very start of our Hope For The Holidays campaign, guitar great Gary Hoey has provided the soundtrack...and his Ho Ho Hoey albums have provided tons of people with Christmas music that most decidedly does not suck!! And, frankly, it doesn't feel like the holidays until we talk to Gary....and we checked that off of our list today!!
People make a lot out of all of the actors and comedians who have come from Kansas City...but the guy who did it all before them was comedian Eddie Griffin...who, after leaving KC for LA at age 16, was soon after playing arenas opening for Andrew Dice Clay and hasn't stopped since!! And now he's playing the T Mobile Center on 12/1 for one hell of a homecoming!! And he stopped by the studio this morning for a wild interview!!
Guitarist/Songwriter/producer Tommy Henriksen has truly lived a charmed life...since joining Alice Cooper's band in 2011, he has worked with everyone from Johnny Depp and Joe Perry, to Lady Gaga, Meatloaf, Halestorm and the list goes on and on. You may not know his name...but man does he have some great stories to tell!!
It's always a good day when we can have a band hang out in the studio all morning....especially when it's good dudes like Dirty Honey...and even better when they're supporting their amazing new album "Can't Find The Brakes!" Buckle up! It's a hell of a ride!!
Matthew Lillard rolls the Polyhedral Dice on the D&D resurgence!
Terry Virts is retired NASA astronaut, International Space Station Commander and colonel in the United States Air Force who was selected as a space shuttle pilot in 2000, and has gone on to spend two hundred and fourteen days in space, racking up 19 hours over 3 EVA's, as well as serving as a test pilot, logging more than 5,300 flight hours in 40 different aircraft...which means, to us, he's a total bad ass, and we want to be his friend. Luckily, he's a great guy and didn't mind Dare getting his nerd on!!
For some of us on this show, Motley Crue provided the soundtrack to our misspent teens and 20s...and over the years, we've talked to Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil and Tommy Lee...but never Mick Mars...but that all changed this morning!!!! With a new single out, "Loyal To The Lie" from his upcoming solo album, "The Other Side Of Mars", we had the amazing opportunity to FINALLY talk to Mick this morning and it was everything we hoped it would be!!!
KC natives Jason Sudeikis and Billy Brimblecom Jr have been friends since meeting while doing improv. here in town at Comedy Sportz...from there, their careers took different paths...Brimblecom is an accomplished drummer who toured with bands like Blackpool Lights and The Creature Comforts...Sudeikis rocketed to stardom on "Saturday Night Live", in movies like "Horrible Bosses" and "We Are The Millers", as well as his hugely popular Apple TV series, "Ted Lasso"! In 2005, Billy lost most of his left leg to cancer, but turned what could have been tragic into something amazing, going on to become executive director for Steps of Faith Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping amputees get the help they need!! And now, they're back with the annual THUNDERGONG! benefit for Steps of Faith tomorrow and, as always it's SOLD OUT!!! But that doesn't mean you can't contribute! Jackyl frontman and long time friend of the show Jesse James Dupree's new solo album. "Breathing Fire" dropped at midnight last night, and it just might be the best straight up rock and roll album to come out this year!! Every track is steeped in everything we love about rock and roll...and it delivers on every level! And Jesse gave us a call this morning to tell us all about how this scorcher of an album came about!!
We've found over the years that some of our favorite comedians are the ones who freely let their weird run wild...and with some people, like comedian Harland Williams, that weird runs 24/7...and we love him for that. And you can experience it for yourself this weekend at the Comedy Club of KC!
Few comedians are better at taking an honest look at who we are are human beings, than Tom Papa. Through his books and comedy special...he, maybe more than any comedian, is able to tap into a real side of ALL of us, as fucked up and hilarious as it all may be! And on Friday 11/17, Tom returns to KC for one show at the Uptown Theater!
