This week we tackle another Ask The Guys question. This weeks questions is by Thomas Vargeletis based out of Massachusetts. Thomas has been shooting for a few years, as he stated, and wonders about how to avoid getting a reflection of the flash in reflective surfaces such as ovens, windows, mirrors, etc. Rich and Brian both offer great ideas about their methods and give great insight on how to avoid it not only on location but also how to fix in post if it’s unavoidable on location. In this weeks episode we chat with Greg Benz. Not only is Greg an amazing landscape photographer but he is also the creator of Lumenzia. If your not familiar, Lumenzia is a software Photoshop extension which allows you to create easier luminosity masks. In the conversation we got into luminosity masking and the importance of them, as well as the benefits of using a software like Greg’s to make your workflow more precise and quicker. Greg also talks briefly about his master course on exposure blending, which we know every real estate photographer can benefit from. In this week episode, we spotlight another great real estate photographer Chris Miller from Imagine Imagery. Chris got into the industry by way of landscape and golf course photography. After taking one of Rich’s workshops, he really transformed his work and is one of the top sought after photographers in the desert region of California. In the last year, Chris has also added video to his arsenal and his clients are loving it!! You can view some of Chris’ recent videos here for some immediate video inspiration! Besides video, Rich, Brian and Chris discuss outsourcing, gear and cover many other topics. This is a great listen for anybody striving to reach the quality of work that Chris does.
In this weeks episode the guys answer a question submitted by an anonymous listener. This person asks about posting images to different forums and groups asking for criticism and getting negative remarks. We know this is an issue in all different types of artistic communities but we felt it was a topic we wanted to cover and try to change the attitude of everyone posting and commenting on these groups and forums. Rich, as Admin of over 10 Facebook groups on photography, sheds some knowledge into the topic and how he helps “police” his groups from negative criticism and people.
