This week, more than 1,400 teens and adult leaders, contractors and volunteers from 43 parishes across the Catholic Diocese of Arlington trade in 1 week of their summer to deepen their faith and serve those in need during WorkCamp. Bishop Burbidge traveled to WorkCamp to visit with our youth and volunteers, and those we serve. For his first-ever "on location" interview, Bishop Burbidge talks to Kevin Bohli, Director of the service project, and 4 teens from different parishes about their experience.
Eight-hundred and thirty teenagers from throughout the Catholic Diocese of Arlington will serve the underprivileged in eight northern and central Virginia counties during WorkCamp 2018, June 23-29. The teenagers will focus on projects designed to make 120 homes safer and drier. This year’s 135 projects include everything from replacing a roof for a disabled man to painting a house and weatherproofing windows for a single father with six children. The theme for this year’s Religious Freedom Week is “Serving Others in God’s Love.” The week starts on June 22, the Feast of Sts. Thomas More and John Fisher, and ends on June 29, the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul.
