In Episode 125, Don and Derek discuss the extreme scenarios where your fitness could be called into question. When you find yourself watching images of wartime conditions and citizens being displaced by battle, it makes you wonder if you are both physically and mentally fit to survive and thrive in those types of circumstances. We discuss an approach to fitness that challenges individuals well beyond the need to improve body composition, basic strength and aerobic conditioning. Does it make you ask questions about whether or not you are training hard enough to prepare yourself for worst-case scenario circumstances? Hopefully, none of us will have to prepare for wartime conditions. But it does make you think about preparing for the future in a more pragmatic and comprehensive manner, as we never know what’s around the corner in these times. The D&D Fitness Radio podcast is available at the following locations for downloadable audio, including: iTunes – https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/d-d-fitness-radio-podcast/id1331724217iHeart Radio – https://www.iheart.com/podcast/dd-fitness-radio-28797988/Spreaker.com – https://www.spreaker.com/show/d-and-d-fitness-radios-showSpotify – https://open.spotify.com/show/5Py2SSPA4mntNwYRm0OpriYou can reach both Don and Derek at the following locations: Don Saladino: http://www.DonSaladino.com Twitter and Instagram - @DonSaladino YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/donsaladino Derek M. In the case of running, one of the biggest challenges is to find an intensity and volume of running that creates significant health and fitness benefits without placing an individual at risk for overtraining or injury. While the younger versions of yourself may have been able to withstand any type of workout that you would undertake, the ageing adult must exercise a little more control and discretion over their workouts to maximize their health and ensure longevity. Don and Derek share their strategies for incorporating workouts that give them the best bang for their buck, without setting them up for exhaustion, injury or a poor metabolic response. In many cases, the addition of appropriate recovery measures may be required for older adults to make sure you are fully rested before heading into the next workout. Making good decisions on training is absolutely necessary for everyone, but plays a bigger role for ageing adults. The D&D Fitness Radio podcast is available at the following locations for downloadable audio, including: iTunes – https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/d-d-fitness-radio-podcast/id1331724217iHeart Radio – https://www.iheart.com/podcast/dd-fitness-radio-28797988/Spreaker.com – https://www.spreaker.com/show/d-and-d-fitness-radios-showSpotify – https://open.spotify.com/show/5Py2SSPA4mntNwYRm0OpriYou can reach both Don and Derek at the following locations: Don Saladino: http://www.DonSaladino.com Twitter and Instagram - @DonSaladino YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/donsaladino Derek M.
