Welcome to Episode 5 of Empowering Meditations with James Cole. In this episode, we’re talking about giving thanks, or gratitude. if you wanted to have an offline version of this meditation without the distracting intro and outro, you can purchase and download an MP3 audio file for only $3 from our Guided Meditation store - https://empoweringmeditations.com/em0005 Giving Thanks Thanksgiving is a holiday that seems rooted in American history and tradition, but did you know that many countries around the world have their own versions of thanksgiving? Most religions practice giving thanks in some form or another and to others, keeping a gratitude diary or journal of all the things they are grateful for is their way of giving thanks. Originally, Thanksgiving was the celebration of a good harvest. Regardless of your reasons and to what you are giving thanks too, taking time out on a regular basis to focus on being grateful for what you have is a practice that can improve your life dramatically. No matter what your situation, there is always something to be grateful for and the more time you spend focusing on those things, the less time you are worrying about the negative aspects of life. I could go on about the benefits of practising gratitude but I’d rather direct you to a great article written by Amit Amin called “The 31 Benefits of Gratitude You Didn’t Know About: How Gratitude Can Change Your Life” http://happierhuman.com/benefits-of-gratitude/ Benefits of this guided gratitude meditation: * This will highlight things to be grateful for that you may not have thought of or take for granted. * By focusing on things you are grateful for, you will uplift your mood and feel happier. * Can reduce negative feelings and emotions. *Note: There is an element to this meditation that guides you through focusing on your different senses, such as sight, sound, smell, touch and taste. If for some unfortunate reason, you are missing one of these senses, use the time to focus on something else that you may be grateful for such as one of your other senses. Let us know how you go If you benefitted from this meditation, please like and share so that others can benefit too. I’d love to hear any stories of how this meditation has helped you in the comments below. Welcome to Episode 4 of Empowering Meditations with James Cole. It’s Halloween so I thought it would be a great time to create a guided meditation to overcome fear. First up, if you wanted to have an offline version of this meditation without the distracting intro and outro, you can purchase and download an MP3 audio file for only $3 from our Guided Meditation store - https://empoweringmeditations.com/em0004 Is it time to let go of the fear that is holding you back? What better time to confront and overcome your fears. Topics Covered: * Fear * How to change relationships between neurons * How to let go of fear This powerful meditation takes a very different approach to overcome fear. Fear comes in so many different variations and even the same fear can differ dramatically from person to person. In this meditation, I want to focus on a general relationship with fear rather than a fear of a specific thing. If you are interested, let me know and I may do some specific phobia busting meditations in the future. Not all fear is specific Some people have a very general, non-specific fear that can really hold them back in life. Every opportunity can become fuzzy and blurred with doubt, every idea of becoming better requires stepping way too far outside of their comfort zone. Wouldn’t it be nice to let go and conquer fear and gain the courage and strength to break out of the dark creepy forest that is holding you back in life? How to let go of fear To do this, one of the best ways is to go back in our minds to the first moment fear ever entered into our awareness. Then resolve and heal any issues we have around the event that caused it. If you have seen previous episodes, you’ll remember how the unconscious mind works with metaphor as its language. With this in mind, it is important when asked to go back to the first event, to allow your mind go wherever it wants to. Sometimes this will go back to an event in early childhood that you clearly remember, and other times it may go back to something that is totally created. Whatever it is, know that it’s the right scenario for your unconscious mind to gain the resolution it needs. I’ve known some people to go back into past lives or previous generations and I remember when I first did a similar meditation, I went back to a time in my mother’s womb, where I felt afraid of the unknown world I could hear outside. Whether this is real or not is irrelevant, whatever our mind conjures up in the moment is what we need to have the best resolution. Go back to where the fear began When wanting to change something in our unconscious minds, the best approach is to first activate the neurons in our brain that are responsible for whatever it is we want to change. The best way to activate the neurons associated with fear is to not only think about what you fear but to really feel that fear. Once these neurons associated with fear are activated, then we can work on changing your relationship with them. It is by changing our relationship with that which we fear that allows us to release fear and let it go. This form of meditation can be quite intensive and although you will feel lighter once the issues have been dealt with, it is important to be gentle to yourself as it may take several days to fully integrate into your system. Benefits of this guided meditation: * By activating fear related neurons first, will have a far greater effect at changing your relationship with fear. * Will help you to let go of the fear that is holding you back in life. * Will boost your courage and emotional strength. * Can also help reduce anxieties. * Helps you become more self-aware.
Welcome to Episode 3 of Empowering Meditations with James Cole. In this episode, we explore how you can use the power of your mind to heal your body and mind. This powerful guided meditation for healing will take you on a journey throughout your body to visually and metaphorically heal your body. First up, if you wanted to have an offline version of this meditation without the distracting intro and outro, you can purchase and download as MP3 audio file for only $3 from our Guided Meditation store - https://empoweringmeditations.com/em0003 Can you really heal yourself with the power of your mind? Yes, you can. However, it’s not like what you see in sci-fi movies where you just close your eyes and focus for a moment and seal up a wound without a scar or grow a new limb instantly, although that would be cool. It’s more about getting your mind synchronized with your body, to create an environment that is ideal for healing. This then promotes all the natural healing abilities that the body has such as releasing various hormones, the creation of white blood cells and other little tricks, to all work together in healing whatever parts require it. What can actually be healed with the mind? Healing can relate to physical injuries, disease and illness as well as mental and emotional hurt, trauma and disorders. The mind is the organ that controls every aspect of your body, from your thoughts to moving muscles, to your digestion, breathing and everything else. Some of these things you are aware of, whereas the majority of them, happen in the unconscious mind without any conscious knowledge at all. How often are you consciously aware of making your heart beat? I would guess rarely if at all. How does it work? Healing yourself with your mind works by focusing your attention on each area of your body that requires it and metaphorically energizing and healing each part. Metaphor is the core language of the mind and by tuning it to become consciously aware of what is normally left to the unconscious, you can take control of any aspect of your body and change its operation consciously. For instance, if you were to pay attention to your heartbeat, you could actually change its beating speed simply by focusing on it. What is actually happening, is that mentally you are focusing on the speed of your heart and setting the intention to slow it down. Your unconscious mind, which knows every aspect of your body, gets the message that then starts all the little internal processes necessary to make it happen. One of the easiest ways to demonstrate this and something that is closely related to meditation, is taking control of your breathing. Breathing, for the most part, is an unconscious activity. Your unconscious mind as it constantly monitors every aspect of your body, knows if it needs more or less oxygen in the bloodstream. With this feedback, it is able to regulate the speed of your breaths to ensure you get enough oxygen for the tasks at hand. By simply becoming aware of your breathing, you can take control and force it to slow down or speed up. This then results in other physiological responses. By slowing down your breathing, you are telling your body to relax which causes other organs and the mind to relax too. This is why focusing on your breath is such a powerful tool for meditating. By continued slow breathing, you can actually slow down your brainwaves which in turn can place you in an altered state of consciousness. By metaphorically healing and energizing every part of your body, you are giving your mind instructions to do what it needs, to physically heal your body. Why doesn’t the body just do this naturally? Most of the time it does, however, there can be times when an illness or disease an...
Welcome to Episode 2 of Empowering Meditations with James Cole. You can purchase this meditation without the intro and outro as an MP3 audio file for $3 from our Guided Meditation store. This powerful guided meditation is designed as an introductory session to our meditations. Introducing you to an inner world and inner power. Guiding you to tap into your inner energy that can be used to create a safe place with a protective barrier. By creating a safe space you're essentially giving your unconscious mind the permission to guide you. Generally in everyday life when we communicate with ourselves or with other people, we use words as a primary form of language, either spoken or written. However, it's not the primary language of the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind uses the language of metaphor, and this can come in many variations which is unique to each and every one of us. Creating a safe space for your unconscious mind will allow your inner language to be free. Quite often the language of our unconscious mind can be quite difficult to understand consciously. Sometimes it can appear completely illogical, sometimes they can be outright weird and sometimes they can appear to be counterintuitive to what we want. That's okay. By creating this safe space and allowing these thoughts to just come and just be, you're allowing your unconscious mind to unravel the mysteries inside. Let go of any judgment or censorship or any analysis and just allow the thoughts to flow freely and trust that any thought that you have, is the right thought for your unconscious mind, regardless of if your conscious mind finds it illogical or doesn't understand it. Once your inner safe space is established you can return to it at any time and it can be the basis for any future meditations that you may want to do. I established my safe space when I got introduced to hypnotherapy over 20 years ago and it has pretty much stayed the same all this time. I use it in my meditations when I've got problems that I need to work out. Or emotions that I need to deal with. You'll then be guided through the meditation to increase learning abilities and improve understanding and comprehension by creating a learning state that is accessible at any time in the future. Even outside of meditation. The learning state is useful for everyone, not just those who at school or university. It's a great way of increasing your perception to allow more information into your mind, and when you do this it'll allow you to retain the information better and have a deeper understanding of it. and once you start to use the learning state, it means that you'll be able to learn things on an unconscious level. Which means the information you take in will be available intuitively. It's a simple process to use it outside of meditation too. You can simply gaze up, maybe find a spot on the wall in front of you and allow your peripheral vision to open up as wide as possible. Then widen your perception further until you have a sense of everything that's completely around you, a full 360 degrees. When you do that and you just focus on it for a few minutes you are inducing the learning state. One thing to keep in mind if you're at school or university and you're using the learning state to prepare for an exam is that the human mind best remembers in the same state that it gained the information in the first place. So the best practice is to go back into the learning state just as you're about to sit the exam. Put your mind in the same state of mind you were when you learned the information and you'll find that the information flows back to you much easier than it would have normally. Benefits of this guided meditation: * Like most meditations,
