 A Crime to Remember S5 E5: Beast with a Badge | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 31:15

This episode is entertaining in a crime solving type of way, plus it gives us a look at racism in the 1950s. A detective works to exonerate his black friend from rape allegations that were pinned on him by the LAPD’s racist members. To do so, he has to navigate his way through deeply entrenched racism, lead a stake-out where male cops dress as women, and find the real predator.   Leave us a review Join tiegrabber

 A Crime to Remember S5 E3: Hearts of Darkness | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 40:48

Join us as we travel back to 1920s Chicago. But there is no Roxie Hart or Richard Gere in this story. In what became known as the crime of the century, a boy from one of Chicago’s wealthiest families was kidnapped and found murdered; the ensuing investigation zeroed in on two wealthy, thrill-seeking college students, Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb. This is a very notorious case with many aspects that lead us back to our discussions of the Atif Rafay and Sebastian Burns convictions. These too guys also read Neitzsche! Leave us a review

A Crime to Remember S5E2: The Bad Old Days | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 47:11

In this episode of A Crime to Remember, The Bad Old Days, panic and terror grip Chicago after the brutal and ritualistic killings of two women and the disappearance of a ten year old girl. A message on the wall of one of the crime scenes in red lipstick reads “For heaven’s sake catch me before I kill more…” But was this written by the killer or was it planted by a reporter anxious to put out sensationalized stories? The police and the local newspapers are desperate to tell the people of Chicago that their killer has been caught. But the police tactics used to get a confession are cruel and unconscionable, making it unreliable and probably untrue. There is a definite lesson here on false confessions. We hope that things have changed and things wouldn’t happen this way if this crime occurred today. Told mostly from the perspective of a reporter in 1946, this episode of ACTR gives us another history lesson within a fascinating true crime story! Leave us a review

 A Crime to Remember S5 E1: Once Upon a Crime | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:09

Investigation Discovery’s series “A Crime to Remember” has started it’s fifth season with a true story from 1959 that has fascinated the public for more than half a century. Truman Capote wrote a groundbreaking work of what he called “a true crime novel” after immersing himself in this case of the murders of the Clutter family in Holcomb, Kansas. Detectives mounted a nationwide search, finding two men who may have slaughtered the family for no reason. Capote’s book “In Cold Blood” brought to light deep-seated questions of crime, punishment, and the nature of human beings. It’s a great case for episode one of the new season!     Leave us a review

Village of the Damned is a five-part series on Investigation Discovery this month. It tells the story of small town Dryden, New York, where a series of seemingly unrelated murders occurred between 1989 and 1999. We have really enjoyed the series so far. This podcast covers episodes 1 and 2, where a family is murdered near Christmas, a 2-year old baby goes missing, and a young man is stabbed to death in his home. It’s a disturbingly entertaining show and we hope you will enjoy our recap and opinions of it. We will cover the next 3 episodes by the end of December. Join Tiegrabber Leave us a review
