Ladycast ep 38: Let's dismantle the "lone male genius" myth | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:23:57

This week's guest is Liza Mundy, a senior fellow at New America and the author of this month's cover story in the Atlantic, "Why is Silicon Valley So Awful to Women?" She's also the author of several books, including "The Richer Sex: How the New Majority of Female Breadwinners is Transforming Sex, Love and Family," and the upcoming book "Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers Who Helped Win World War II." We talked about why Silicon Valley is still so tough for women, what's being done to fix it, and why we should dismantle the myth of the lone male genius.  Ladycast ep 37: Nisha Chittal on not telling her age and self care | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:36:14

No matter your qualifications, people are predisposed to judge what you are really 'worth' to them based on your age. The point of someone asking your age is almost always so that the asker can make a judgement about you based on that age – what other reason is there?" *** Subscribe to my newsletter #aznbooks2017 and follow along as I read *only* books by Asian authors during 2017! https://tinyletter.com/aznbooks2017 *** Support The Ladycast on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/theladycast Follow The Ladycast online:

Ladycast ep 36: Meet the women who are making reading cool(er) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:28

This week I spoke with Payton Cosell Turner and Eliza Wexelman, the rad women behind Girls At Library, the gorgeous and smart online journal dedicated to women who love literature. We debated the merits of print versus e-book, running a bicoastal business, and the importance of constantly re-educating yourself. "I feel like there are people similar to us who are interested in reading but also interested in visuals and creativity and I think just trying to create a place for other women or other readers who wanted to have a resource. It's all the things we wanted in a website."  Ladycast ep 35: You have the same number of hours in your day as Hilary Matfess | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:35:57

"It's absolutely become the norm for me to be the youngest, and at times most female person in the room. And it's really intimidating. But you kind of just have to put your head down and accept that you have a right to be there, and that more women should have the right to be at that table." This week, Hilary Matfess talks about being a young woman in traditionally masculine spaces, reporting in Sub-Saharan Africa, her early lupus diagnosis, and how she got her first book deal. Hilary is a senior program officer at the Center for Democracy and Development in Abuja, Nigeria, and a visiting fellow at the Institute for National Security Studies at the National Defense University, among about a hundred other credentials and affiliations. She's also a dear friend of mine, and her life and work ethic are amazingly inspiring.  Ladycast ep 26: Strategist & fitness blogger Evann Clingan on side hustles | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:47:23

This week's guest is digital strategist and fitness blogger Evann Clingan! I've known Evann for years now, but this was our first time chatting (almost) in person.
