Train Wrecks ft. Dustin Zahn

German born and based Markus has been producing and DJing for over a decade and a half. As a DJ he likes to take on the role of a storyteller, preferring the longer variety of a set if he can choose. His career is built on excitement and playfulness, both as a DJ and producer, something that has paid off into becoming a considerable back catalogue. With his first production being released in 2009, a discography of over 30 records is now linked to his name – including two full length solo albums; DNA (Figure) and Resist (EXILE) released in 2013 and 2017 respectively. Suckut also runs two imprints; SCKT founded in 2012, which he brought back to life in 2016 after a two-year hiatus, and the more recent Tales Of The Machines that he started in the same year. The latter one proclaims its manifesto being to release more extemporary live tapings from jamming sessions in the studio, simply letting the machines have more of a “final say” in the process. Cassegrain is a duo based in Berlin who operate the techno label, “Arcing Seas.” They’ve also released on other imprints such as Prologue and Function’s Infrastructure New York. Both artists have their own solo projects as Magna Pia and Rhyw. They can be found performing around the world on a regular basis both as DJs and a live act. They are by all accounts, bad asses. Cinthie is a Berlin based DJ and producer, and the creative mind behind the Beste Modus and Unison Wax record labels. A well-known figure in the German capital’s house scene, Cinthie’s career began as a teenager spinning records at clubs in the 1990s, before going on to sign with Low Spirit Recordings at the turn of the century and finding herself in demand at parties everywhere from Moscow to Mexico. These days Cinthie is a resident at Watergate, where her vinyl-only DJ sets and intuitive ability to weave deep-yet-bassy mixes have seen her become a figurehead amongst the next generation of German house music virtuosos. Her story began more than 10 years ago as a vocalist and live accompaniment for Abe Duque. Vidal Vargas of Raíz joins us to discuss their history and the rise of L.A.’s Droid Behavior. Producers and label owners Vangelis and Vidal Vargas have performed worldwide from North America to Europe to Japan. Through their connection with Drumcell they developed the label, production group and music collective Droid Behavior. Aside from curating forward thinking events such as Interface, Raíz have released affective music on labels including Electric Deluxe, Historia Y Violencia, Droid Recordings and their own label VRV. As performers, Raíz fully harness the capabilities of technology to create a thick blend of Detroit-influenced techno and hard, gritty house. Years of production experience inform their Live PA / Digital DJ hybrid approach, as they layer each track’s core essentials and live improvisation to craft sets into a unique and narrative arch. Freddy talks us through the early days of inspiring Italy with his infamous Virus radio show, his days as a vinyl distributor and label owner, and currently as a prestigious, highly in-demand DJ. How’s that for a run-on sentence?! On top of his infamous Virus Radio Show, he also runs a record label called KEY Vinyl. He was also behind K1971 Distribution and promotion.
