This week Jason and Andre welcome chef Jon Yao from the LA restaurant “Kato” we chat about the evolution of his small shop to a very popular tasting menu. He was recently reviewed by Jonathan Gold, does weird stuff with foie gras, and is in the works for opening a new spot!

This week on The Stew: Jason is in New York so Andre is absent, I’m joined by Amanda and Kim from the Food Book Fair, a food book fair that happens annually in New York, they also have a food podcast of their own on the Heritage Radio Network called Recommended Reading. We talk about tampon delivery services, a Grub Street article about the possibly failing cookbook publishing model, some sensual things and various twitter questions from you guys!  

This week Jason & Andre sit down for a hot LA summer day to chat about potato chips, aqua fresca, chicken rice, the Roccbox pizza oven, Mexican coke, Equinox Gym, and so much more!

This week Jason, Andre, and Stewie are all on board for a spirited chat about how to make a better mozzarella stick, disappointing fruit modifications, secret ingredients for Korean potato salad, prime rib cooking methods, Persian Lasagna, and the best thing we ate all week.

This week on The Stew, Jason and Andre crack a couple cold ones and chat about eating baseball peanuts inside a moving car and the pleasures that brings, how bad the restaurant Lemonade is, LocoL closing in Oakland, Whole Foods selling out to Amazon.com and what may come from that, stolen magazines from 1985, pineapple juice meatloaf killers, and some  interesting recipes we’ve been working on.

This week on The Stew Jason and Andre spend a decent amount of time talking about how to get a dog to stop barking, then debate about confit egg yolks for awhile, we talk about stuff we’ve been cooking lately, and take some rapid fire twitter questions!

This week Greg and Darin from the podcast “Snacky Tunes” join Jason and Andre for a chat about their podcast and all the cool stuff they’ve done, we disagree about ramen, we talk about Guy Fieri for like 45 minutes, and get into some fun food debates and celebrations towards the end. Fun pod indeed!

This week on The Stew we’ve got a bit of a different episode. Jason went on location at the Food Book Fair in New York last weekend and conducted a series of mini quick style interviews loosely in the theme of a food related Proust style interview, the kind you may have seen in the back of a Vanity Fair Magazine. Jason chats with Julia Sherman, author of Salad for President, Kerry Diamond of Cherry Bombe Magazine, photographer and magical woman Andrea Gentl, former Food & Wine Magazine Editor and frequent Top Chef just Dana Cowin, Creatior of Mouthfeel Magazine Mac Malikowski, Liz Prueitt of the beloved Tartine Bakery, Aussie whole foods cookbook author Amy Chaplin, my friend and whiz kid barista Elliot Foos, and last but not least Ice Cream hunk Nick Morgenstern from Morgenstern’s Ice Cream.

This week’s episode came a little late because I got too busy! Sorry for that, this week Jason and Andre talk about the Food Book Fair in New York as if it were going to happen in the future but you will indeed hear this after it’s passed, sorry. I do a recap on the Chef’s Night Out video on Munchies which you can watch now online, I talk about the cookbook zine I did and is now available, an Eddie Huang dinner I went to last week, fava beans, Ethiopian food, and the best things we ate all week!

This week Jason and Andre chat about cinco de mayo foods, foraging mulberries and loquats, turmeric popcorn, we take lots of twitter questions such as what our favorite charcuterie meats and Jason realizes what it feels like to listen to people talk about food and crave it afterward, but for hearing himself talk about it, hard to explain, you’ll see.

This week on the Stew we record a quick show while getting ready for Stewie’s wedding! We chat about a recent kinda controversial Wolfgang Puck interview on the less good than us Eater Podcast, garbonzo bean juice, wedding stuff, sorry it’s late we’re still recovering!

This week on The Stew! Jason and Andre catch up after a week away, a bit delirious, we talk about Coachella foods, Jason’s highlights from filming a Chef’s Night Out for Vice Munchies, a pop up dinner for Evan Kleiman’s now closed Angelini Restaurant, and the best thing we ate all week!

This week Jason and Andre meet up with some wine and talk about Stewie’s bachelor party, some recent experiments in bone marrow as a fat for tortillas, expanding on the fattoush salad, and making a Filipino soup called “Arroz Caldo” out of ingredients that can only be found at Zankou Chicken, and finally we talk some listener questions from twitter and they’re all pretty good!

This week Jason and Andre do a one on one pod to talk about some food related departures. We open the show discussing Jason’s diet and fasting plans, and move straight into the recent shuttering of Lucky Peach Magazine, and why it may have happened. We dabble into some schmaltz related territory, some Tapatio pickling, and finish on the recent closing of LA’s Pok Pok restaurant, and why that may have happened! Sad but maybe interesting?
