Endgame Podcasts stakes its claim as one of The Romanoffs S1E2 – The Royal We Written by Michael Goldbach and Matthew Weiner Directed by Matthew Weiner Wherein we meet many different iterations of people from around the globe who believe, and act as if, they were actually descendants from the line of the last Tsar of Russia, Nicholas II via the daughter that was rumored to have escaped the family’s slaughter at the hands of the Bolsheviks in July 1918. While modern forensic evidence has now shown conclusively that Anastasia most definitely did not escape the fate of her family, the idea that one might/could be/is descended from Russian royalty is certainly an intoxicating one, and the series highlights how that intoxication drives those who believe it to some very odd situations, in which hilarity does not always ensue. This week the Boys take a little sea cruise as they look at S1E2 – The Royal We.

Endgame Podcasts dials in Better Call Saul S4E10 – Season Finale – Winner Written by Peter Gould and Thomas Schnauz Directed by Adam Bernstein Wherein we relive what must have been perhaps Jimmy’s finest moment as Brother Chuck vouches for him at the Bar and then crushes a karaoke duet, Werner makes a break for it for a rendezvous with his wife, with Mike in hot pursuit and Lalo in hot pursuit of Mike (RIP MoneyGram dude), Jimmy ramps up the fake mourning on the year anniversary of Chuck’s death, apparently with Kim’s full support, in order to garner sympathy for his case to become a lawyer again, Lalo has a phone call with Werner, Jimmy writes big checks and hands out scholarships in his pursuit of reinstatement, Werner admires the stars in New Mexico, Jimmy ostensibly lectures a scholarship loser with a battle plan that is really Saul’s, Mike becomes fully Gus’s bitch, Gale checks out the half-completed SuperLab and offers to whip up a little something-something, Jimmy’s gives the speech of his lifetime at the appeal hearing, successfully conning “those assholes” into believing what he said about Chuck, Kim turns out to be one of those very assholes who believed what Jimmy was saying and to assuage her concerned look Jimmy assures her that… IT’S ALL GOOD, MAN!

Endgame Podcasts dials in Better Call Saul S4E9 – Wiedersehen Written by Gennifer Hutchison Directed by Vince Gilligan Wherein Kim and Jimmy Do It Again in Beautiful Downtown Lubbock, Lalo and Nacho pay Gus a visit and Lalo makes an odd proposition, the Germans blow stuff up, Jimmy’s long-awaited hearing doesn’t go as rehearsed or hoped, Werner suffers a touch of angst and a potentially terminal case of homesickness, Mike does what Mike does, Jimmy and Kim have a massive blowup as Kim finally gets it through to Jimmy that he must let the dream of Wexler/McGill and we finally learn the story of How Hector Got His Bell…

Endgame Podcasts dials in Better Call Saul S4E8 – Coushatta Written by Gordon Smith Directed by Jim McKay Wherein we return to a regular, plot-oriented cold open as Jimmy embarks on his journey to Coushatta in order to mail-bomb the judge in Huell’s case per Kim’s devious strategy, which succeeds completely and gives Kim another taste of how the other half lives even as she slides into a stupor of boredom at a Mesa Verde meeting, the Germans finally get their night out on the town, with the surprise that Kai, while indeed getting into trouble, isn’t the one who gets into the MOST trouble, and we get the return of Nacho (yay!) who appears to have moved up a notch in the Salamanca organization and now boasts an nice house with matching house-hoes and yet seems interested only in stockpiling enough cash for him and his father to split to Canada, and we finally, FINALLY meet Lalo…

Endgame Podcasts’ Post-Emmy Rage Special Television’s second Golden Age draws to a close as the 70th annual Emmy Awards piled heaps of dirt onto its grave in a self-congratulatory, pretty much lily-white clusterfuck, and in the process drew the lowest ratings ever for an Emmy telecast and generating more than enough controversy and INCORRECTLY AWARDED EMMYS for EndGame hosts Misha and Jambone to have plenty of beef with the whole sordid affair. Tune in as they lay into the show, the winners, the losers, the utterly unconscionable snubbing of Keri Russell and the miserable season of the show that did win Best Drama. This is a no-holds barred rage fest and anyone even slightly familiar with EndGame Podcasts will know the reason why, and most likely agree!

Endgame Podcasts dials in Better Call Saul S4E7 – Something Stupid Written by Alison Tatlock Directed by Deborah Chow Wherein the artsy cold opens continue with a split-screen time-jumping montage of Jimmy and Kim’s relationship slowly devolving over the course of 8 or 9 months, Mike speaks German, the Germans take longer than anticipated on the Big Dig, Jimmy ruins the party for Kim, Kim collects trophies, Jimmy shops for a new location for his law practice, Hector ogles a nurse, Gus notices, Huell gets arrested, Kim has a plan, and we finally learn that if you need to call, buy from SAUL GOODMAN…

Endgame Podcasts dials in Better Call Saul S4E6 –  Pinata Written by Gennifer Hutchison Directed by Andrew Stanton Wherein we time-travel again for the cold open, this time bouncing back to the days when Kim and Jimmy worked in the HHM mailroom, while in the current timeline Howard gives Jimmy the check for $5,000, Jimmy gives Howard some tough love, Kim gives the banking account to Schweikart and Cokely so she can handle more PD overflow cases, Jimmy uses his fast cash for another round of cell phone flipping but takes precautions to ensure a different outcome this time with the Three Youths, Mike sets up the living quarters for the Big Dig crew, Jimmy weeps more for one of his elderly clients than he did for his brother, and we learn a little more about what a sick, twisted, evil little fuck Gus really is….

Endgame Podcasts dials in Better Call Saul S4E5 – Quite A Ride Written by Ann Cherkis Directed by Michael Morris Wherein we bounce forward in time to the Breaking Bad Endtimes to witness Saul bugging out of his famous office, Jimmy’s cell-phone idea begins to pay off, until it doesn’t, Kim takes on some PD cases and in the process, perhaps intentionally or at least subconsciously, fumbles a big Mesa Verde play, and we learn what last’ week’s Big Ask by Gus to Mike was, as Mike oversees the recruitment of the engineer that will dig the hole which will ultimately become Gale Botecher’s, and then Walter White’s massive subterranean meth lab….
