Out of the Dark: My Journey Through the Shadows to Find Joy | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

Launching her career as a contestant on the popular television program, American Idol, gospel singer Mandisa went on to eventually win a Grammy in 2013 for best Contemporary Christian album. Along the way she sold over 1.6 million records. But, on today’s edition of Family Talk, Mandisa reveals her pain beyond the accolades. In her new book, Out of the Dark, she describes the incalculable pain of molestation and rape, and the feelings of inadequacy that followed. After the loss of a close friend to cancer, the grief from her past traumas rose to the surface, resulting in her falling into a deep depression and isolation. Through community and counseling, Mandisa finally found joy. Psalm 40:3 is her testimony, "He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him."

Hope Heals: Finding Joy in the Midst of Suffering - Part 2 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

Fourteen years ago, Katherine Wolf suffered a massive stroke which led to thirteen surgeries and a life of limited mobility and other challenges. Since then, she’s disrupted the myth that joy can only be found in a pain-free life. On today’s edition of Family Talk, the author of "Hope Heals" points to Colossians 3 where the Apostle Paul wrote, "Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." No matter what trial you're enduring, Katherine calls you to persevere.

Hope Heals: Finding Joy in the Midst of Suffering - Part 1 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

One day, Katherine Wolf was a 26-year-old wife and the doting mother to her six month old baby boy. The next day, without warning, she suffered a massive brain stem stroke. On today’s edition of Family Talk, the author of "Hope Heals" recounts how she was in a coma for nearly three months. Today, fourteen years later, Katherine is living her best life possible, given so many physical obstacles. She utilizes a wheelchair at times but declares it’s just an avenue to her freedom and only pushes her forward. A song lyric that she loves from David Crowder is, "Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal." Katherine exhorts believers to acknowledge their own "invisible" wheelchairs and how God can use their weaknesses for His glory.

The 4 Wills of God: Discovering God’s Purpose for Your Life | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

All believers, young and old, have a deep longing to know God's divine will. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, author of The 4 Wills of God, explains the key is to follow the Lord’s universally-revealed four wills, as summarized by the acronym "BAGS." Believe in Jesus Christ. Abstain from sexual sin. Give thanks in everything. Submit and do what's right. When you obey these four universal truths, it activates the unique and perfect will of God in your life.

The 4 Wills of God: Revisiting Love and Respect | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, author of Love & Respect, warns against what he’s dubbed "the Crazy Cycle." In the midst of conflict, without love, the wife reacts without respect. And without respect, the husband, in turn, reacts without love. It’s a never-ending vortex! Dr. James Dobson is convinced that love and respect are the biblical prescriptions that can preserve marriage and prevent divorce.

 The Frontlines of Pro-Life Conscience and Care - Part 2 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Christina Francis, chairwoman of the board of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, tells our own Dr. Tim Clinton that she is hopeful that Roe v. Wade can be overturned, depending on the result of the Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court case, to be decided this June. AAPLOG submitted a legal brief in the Mississippi case, supporting the state’s ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The pro-life OB-GYNs warn that post-abortive women face a seven times greater likelihood of suicide. Dr. Francis declares, “Abortion is not healthcare, because pregnancy is not a disease. It is a natural process of the body!”

 The Frontlines of Pro-Life Conscience and Care - Part 1 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

Did you know that before Roe v. Wade, the once reputable American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists opposed killing babies in the womb? Tragically, the group by and large became aggressively pro-abortion once the egregious law was passed in 1973. In the late 2000s, the organization declared that if a physician will not perform or refer an abortion, he or she is unethical, and should even lose his or her license. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Christina Francis explains that the American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians and Gynecologists was formed to reaffirm the value and dignity of individual human life in all stages of growth and development. Their pro-life members, who are all doctors, assert that science is demonstrably on the side of life — from the moment of conception.

Give Them Unshakable Faith - Are Your Kids Prepared? - Part 2 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

As students go deeper in their Christian faith, they are often faced with the questions, "How do we know there’s a God?," "What’s the evidence for intelligent design?," and "How do we know that Scripture is true?" On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Jeff Myers, president of Summit Ministries, explains how to equip young people with the answers by enrolling them in a Summit summer program. Attendees will discover what the Bible says about abortion, evolution, gender identity, homosexuality, marriage, and pornography. If you have kids or grandkids in high school or college, today’s program could change their life’s trajectory.

Give Them Unshakable Faith - Are Your Kids Prepared? - Part 1 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

The vast majority of young people do not believe in absolute truth, that Christ is divine, or that the Bible is the Living Word. No wonder 75% say they have no sense of purpose and over half struggle with depression. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. Jeff Myers, president of Summit Ministries, explains that after young adults graduate from the Summit’s 2-week summer program, 86% have a biblical worldview compared to the 4% national average. They also become equipped to stand up for and defend truth — with a capital "T" — in college and beyond. When Dr. Dobson’s son, Ryan, attended as a teen in 1987, it changed his life.

Beyond Suffering: Hope for Parents with Special Needs Kids | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

When Steve Bundy discovered that his newborn son, Caleb, had multiple disabilities, he was devastated and struggled with a crisis of faith. He and his wife, Melissa, traded toy trucks for full-time caregiving. On today’s edition of Family Talk, the senior vice president at Joni and Friends Ministries confesses that he was angry, lost, and disillusioned after his son’s diagnosis. When Steve asked God why He wouldn’t fix Caleb, he felt the Lord say, "Aren't you glad I didn’t require you to be fixed before I accepted you?" Through this process, Steve has learned that, "suffering without purpose is meaningless. But suffering with purpose through the sovereignty of God has all the meaning in the world."

 Grandparenting: A Higher Calling - Part 3 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

On today’s edition of Family Talk, Jay Kesler urges grandparents to be fully invested in their grandchildren by providing quality time and ongoing affirmation. If one of your grandkids gets in trouble with the law or faces an unplanned pregnancy, you could be the first person he or she calls. God demonstrates His patience with us, and you can exemplify His unconditional love to your grandkids.

 Grandparenting: A Higher Calling - Part 2 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

In a world of dysfunctional families, Christian grandparents have become a lifeline for their precious grandchildren. On today’s edition of Family Talk, author Jay Kesler urges grandparents to provide a welcome retreat for their grandchildren. By offering stability and engagement in the face of a corrupt culture that abolishes biblical truth, grandparents are even more likely to receive probing questions about life’s purpose from their grandkids.

 Grandparenting: A Higher Calling - Part 1 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

The Bible speaks glowingly about the role of grandparents. For example, Paul affirms young Timothy’s grandmother, Lois, who passed her contagious Christian faith to her daughter, Eunice, and to her grandson, Timothy. On today’s classic edition of Family Talk, author Jay Kesler proves that grandparenting is indeed a higher calling. Whether they are helping raise their grandkids because of an adult child’s divorce or they live down the street or miles away, Christian grandparents should do what they can to provide a safe haven for their grandchildren.

 Pray Big Things - Part 2 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

When Julia Jeffress Sadler was told she was pregnant with triplets, she was terrified! She had already endured the pain of three miscarriages the previous year and was worried that something could happen. On today’s edition of Family Talk, Julia reveals that Psalm 30, verse 9 became her prayer during that season. The author of "Pray Big Things" echoed King David’s worry. "What is gained if I am silenced, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it proclaim Your faithfulness?" After initially going into labor at 23 weeks and spending 49 days on bedrest, Julia successfully delivered her three healthy babies.

 Pray Big Things - Part 1 | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 1555

After suffering three miscarriages within one year, Julia Jeffress Sadler and her husband, Ryan, were devastated. In fact, she told God that she was angry with Him for allowing that pain in her life. On today’s edition of Family Talk, the daughter of Pastor Robert Jeffress shares with Dr. Tim Clinton the lessons she learned as described in her book, "Pray Big Things". After praying for three biological children and multiples, the Lord answered both prayers with triplets! Like Joseph in the Bible, Julia urges us to never give up on our God-given dreams, despite the struggles and suffering along the way.
