EP 104 - Live to 103! The Power of Medicinal Breathwork | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Concentrated breathwork -- such as that practiced with Qigong Meditation -- has incredible benefits for overall health and improved longevity. The term "Blue Zones" encompasses those areas around the globe where people live the longest. Some of this longevity is nutrition-based, but as certified Qigong Meditation expert Simon Cheng believes, concentrated breathwork -- such as that practiced with Qigong -- also has incredible benefits.  This type of breathing teaches your body to turn on the parasympathetic nervous system--the "rest and digest" system (opposite of fight or flight).  EP 103 - Bye Bye Mammograms? Rethinking Breast Cancer Screening | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Women who have been told repeatedly to "get your mammogram" may have been misled. For decades, women have been advised to "get your mammogram" as an early detection approach. According to Dr. Nyjon Eccles, women have been misled.  Based on research, Dr. Eccles states that mammography screening doesn't lead to survival advantage. He cites research results that show for every 2,000 women who are screened over 10 years, one life will be saved, 10 women will receive unnecessary treatment, and 200 women will receive false positive results. A health gut (flora) makes life a lot easier. The good news is: there is something you can do about that! Try Kaya Biotics – as a treat for your gut. Click on this link to save 25% off your first order, use code "wholehealth" at checkout. - sponsor A better alternative, says Dr. Eccles, is the use of thermography, which uses infrared cameras to detect heat radiating from breast tissue. Cancers generate heat because they are highly metabolic and cause increased blood circulation. The screening tool does not involve compression of the breasts, nor does it use radiation. It is able to pick up on potential cancer before it can be seen, structurally, by a mammogram.  Another benefit is that thermography screening isn't impeded by dense breast tissue, and therefore can be used in younger women who may have a family history or genetic risk.  While mammography may produce false positives, Dr. Eccles has seen thermography result in 90-95% accuracy.  He does caution, however, that thermography shouldn't be used as a diagnostic tool; rather, its focus should be screening and early detection. Just because heat is detected, doesn't mean it's cancer -- it could be an inflammatory response. That said, any chronic or persistent inflammatory issues should also be followed up with additional diagnostic investigation. Listen as Dr. Eccles joins Dr. Taz to discuss more about why thermography is a better option to mammography, as well as his development of  ThermoCheck®, a computer-assisted Breast Thermography system.  Encore Episode - Food Sanity: How to Eat in a World of Fads & Fiction | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Dr. David Friedman explains how to navigate food in a world of eating fads.Dr. David Friedman noticed the food rules were always changing. Something that was bad for you one day was proclaimed as having great health benefit the next. To cut through the noise, Dr. Friedman advises combining these three things: Common science: Find out what the studies show. Common sense: Trust your gut instead of what you see in the media. Biology: The body should be designed to utilize the food you eat. Consider eliminating animal milk, eating more fish, and reducing your red meat consumption.  Encore Episode - The Cancer Revolution: Rethinking Cancer Diagnosis & Treatment | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Too often in cancer treatment methods, the focus is on the disease, not the whole person. When it comes to cancer, conventional doctors are trained to treat their patients exclusively with surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. These methods are grueling on the whole body, and they don't treat beyond the tumor or the cancer itself. The focus is on the disease, not the whole person. Because of this, the outcomes in conventional medicine can be bleak. A health gut (flora) makes life a lot easier. The good news is: there is something you can do about that! Try Kaya Biotics – as a treat for your gut. Click on this link to save 25% off your first order, use code "wholehealth" at checkout. - sponsor But, it doesn't have to be this way. Dr. Leigh Erin Connealy has developed a whole-person approach to treating cancer, and these treatments have helped thousands of patients through her Cancer Center for Healing. In her book, The Cancer Revolution, Dr. Connealy shows you how to get to the root causes of cancer and the practical steps you can take to get back on the path to healing, including balancing your body's chemistry with nutritional supplements, following a healthy food plan, detoxifying your body and home, exercising regularly, getting deep restful sleep every night, practicing stress reduction techniques, and putting together a supportive healing team. Chemotherapy and radiation have their place in treatment, but in many cases, they are simply not enough, because cancer isn't caused by one thing, but by many different factors. All of these causes must be addressed, not just the tumor. Dr. Connealy joins Dr. Taz to discuss how you can equip yourself to make impactful, achievable lifestyle choices that fight the root of the disease, and that offer hope for recovery and a cancer-free life. Dr. Treaster also recommends posture correction. Focus on achieving a neutral pelvis in daily activities. Listen as Dr. Treaster joins Dr. Taz to discuss pelvic health physical therapy.
