Looking back to this week's draw against Sevilla, we ask whether 0-0 was a good result against our main rivals in the group and what a difference Mendy and Silva make to the defence. Oliver Harbord, Chelsea correspondent for Football.London joins us to report back on Frank Lampard's press conference. Matt Beadle from the 'Goalkeeper's Union' Podcast and Man Utd fan joins us for 'The Opposition View'. Is this the worst Man Utd side in recent memory? Are there parallels between Frank Lampard and Ole Gunner Solskjaer and will Ole be given time? And how does Matt see Utd approaching the game. We wrap up by giving our predictions and ask will Frank select James or Azpi and is the biggest issue to resolve now defensive midfield.  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

"Let the Celery Decide" Chelsea FanCast #529 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:50

Stamford Chidge interviews his old mate, Walter Otton, cfcuk writer and author of "Stuck On You: a year in the life of a Chelsea supporter"; "Carefree! Chelsea Chants & Terrace Culture"; "The Red Hand Gang"; "Roe2Ro"; "Poppy" and "Shorts", to talk about his latest book "Let The Celery Decide" Chidge talks to Walter Otton about his latest book "Let The Celery Decide" where he poignantly and passionately recounts his journey from the Champions' League semi-final second leg against Barcelona to the Final in Munich. Chelsea's struggle to win the 'Holy Grail' mirror Walters own health struggles, but as ever, teamwork and mates help him through. A very moving chat with a wonderful writer and Chelsea supporter which reminds you as to why going to football is so important and why we miss it so much. The book is available from our very own Mark Worrall's Gate 17 publishing or from Amazon priced at £7.95 Here's the summary from the back cover... “Brace yourself for an invigorating journey with a quite miraculous ending – and we’re not just talking about what happens on the pitch. Treasuring a one-nil lead, five thousand Chelsea supporters travel to Barcelona for the second leg of the semi-final of the European Cup.  After the most extraordinary ninety minutes ever witnessed, the Blues know they will face Bayern Munich in the Final. Desperately pining for some consistent peace of mind after the Doctor had signed him off indefinitely, Walt’s excursions to both games are peppered with powerful honesty, stirring dreams and spontaneous connections. Join him as he blindly navigates through the brutal storm of life-changing health issues in what would end up being a glorious season.  He’s lost his job; he might be losing his marbles – he’s a husband and a father clinging on to his kids, his faith and his marriage. Drinking with his friends George and Tall Paul, the three of them are tucked up for the day in a sun-drenched Munich beer garden. Fate puts in an appearance and suddenly there’s a spare ticket in the Chelsea end for the Final sitting right in Walter’s palm. Who goes to the match? ‘Let the Celery Decide’”  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Will Pulisic, Silva, Chilwell and Ziyech be fit enough to start? Will Kepa be in goal and is it a must win game for Frank and Chelsea.  50 Years of Chelsea - 1989-90 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 02:11:32

Continuing our series '50 Years of Chelsea' looking back, season by season, from the FA Cup winning 1970 season to present day; Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd and Kelvin Barker, author of 'Celery: Representing Chelsea in the '80's'; 'Chelsea Here, Chelea There' and writer for cfcuk, to look back at the 1989-90 season. Chelsea are back in Division One after their record breaking previous season. They finish this season in 5th place, their best finish since 1970, largely due to Kerry Dixon's 25 goals and Kevin Wilson's 20 goals but the defence had a big part to play too with Dave Beasant outstanding in goal ably assisted by Steve Clarke, Gareth Hall, Ken Monkou, Erland Johnsen and Tony Dorigo. Chelsea secured their second trophy in four years winning the Zenith Data Systems trophy at Wembley in a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough. A shame their cup finesse didn't include going deep in the FA and League Cups with a third round departure against Bristol City in the FA Cup and lowly Scarborough knocking Chelsea out of the League Cup. A talented crop of youngsters such as David Lee; Gareth Hall; Frank Sinclair; Jason Cundy; Graeme Le Saux; Graham Stuart; Damien Matthew; Craig Burley were beginning to break into the side which augured well for the future All in all a very memorable season and as ever, never a dull moment at Chelsea in a season enthusiastically remembered by Chidge, Jonathan and Kelvin.  See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
