The Book Club arrives on the Pride Of Detroit PODcast. What's a book? Good thing you asked; it's one of those things that used to be made with paper in meatspace. Jeremy Reisman and Andrew Kato discuss "Blood, Sweat & Chalk: The Ultimate Football Playbook: How the Great Coaches Built Today's Game" by Tim Layden, who does a deep dive on the history of football plays and schemes. Along the way they attempt to tie what they've learned back to the Detroit Lions and their offseason outlook.

Chris starts the show by arguing about whether practice is real football. Jeremy and Ryan discuss the Lions they're expecting to see more about from the first OTAs of the 2018 calendar year. Frank Ragnow's position is debated, whether he will play guard or center. Then it's time to jump in the wayback machine to talk about Lions @ Giants from 2017, and how a year can absolutely change the impact of a game before people knew how bad the Giants would be. Where will Quandre Diggs play in 2018? Some discussion about Lebron James, and then mailbag takes on the stick question about french fries.

Golden Tate wants to stay in Detroit for the remainder of his career, but will the price be right? Chris has a problem talking about undrafted free agents, but he and Jeremy crunch down on the newest Lions (for as long as they may be). OTAs are coming up, and the gang talks about what they want to see. Then in a new segment, Ryan, Chris and Jeremy step back to look at the 2017 season opener against the Arizona Cardinals, the start of the end for Ameer Abdullah and overreactions after one game. Mailbag asks why there's no NFL minor league, opening up Chris' favorite subject.

Did the Lions miss Patricia's sexual assault allegations? What have Lions fans been left with given a defiant press release from the team and Patricia? Meghan Dooley joins the PODcast crew to discuss the events of the past week and what this means for the Lions - and what impact this has on the overall discussion about these allegations in the context of the culture of professional football. This one is some very serious subject matter and listener discretion is advised here. The crew also discuss the recent Supreme Court ruling that opens the way for sports gambling outside of Nevada, and mailbag gets the conversation going on comedians.

Jeremy fills in as an adequate host again as Chris goes AWOL. Mansur Shaheen joins the crew, bringing his insight into game tape to talk about the recent additions to the Lions roster from a draft that seems farther away than when it actually was. There's still plenty of holes for teh Lions to try to plug, so could another round of late free agency be incoming? The guys talk about what could happen with the Matt Patricia blueprint. 

Chris makes a triumphant return, and Jeremy comes back in from Detroit. With the gang back to normalcy, it's time to talk about the NFL draft! Yes, the draft that was is over, and the Loins have a bunch of shiny new players on their roster. The trio break down the new players along the offense, including guard/center Frank Ragnow and running back Kerryon Johnson. But Ryan has concerns there's not enough done to help the defense out, especially with no defensive lineman taken until late in the draft. 

The final stretch. The final days before the drafting begins. It begins in full. Very soon. Jeremy takes Kent Lee Platte and Brett Whitefield one more time around the Detroit Lions and finds out what you could be seeing on Thursday as the Lions pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Lions fans love hearing about Eric Ebron, so the PODcast crew starts with Eric Ebron talk. This is a lie, but Jeremy and Ryan and Chris do have to tell the mob to halt its march, because Ebron didn't say anything wrong in Indianapolis. But after taking care of the news and housekeeping, the guys play a few games involving the draft. The first is called The Reach, and Chris grills Jeremy and Ryan on which guys stand out as their unrealistic draft crushes. Jeremy doesn't know how to play the game. Ryan and Jeremy also talk about draft needs for the Detroit Lions, and mailbag quizes the trio on the most important questions from the fanbase.

April Fools is insulated from the PODcast, besides a little pulling about the Detroit Shock and Chris getting absolutely Chaps'd at one point during the PODcast. The crew discusses the latest signings and all the news from the team during the owners meeting. This includes more tight end talk, discussion on rule changes, targeting and the overall grand strategy of the Lions. Mailbag takes questions about the Lions draft strategy and brunch.

Brett Whitefield from Pro Football Focus hops on with the trio, who is operating at a low ability given a very raucous weekend. Brett helps break down the latest signings by the Lions. Can Luke Wilson fit in for Eric Ebron? Will the latest signings on the defensive end help fill some very big needs? What are the current outlooks on the draft, and are Lions fans getting hung up on some guys and missing another who could be a great fit? Mailbag pits Danny DeVito against Joe Pesci.

This is March. A time honored tradition of freaking out and this year the Lions have provided more kindling than expected when they unceremoniously dumped Eric Ebron. With few signings to bolster confidence, the PODcast crew isn't quite sure what to make of things right now. They also take a look at some guys they're still hoping to see sign, the new signees, few as they are, and take a look around the NFC North. There's also some talk about a boy named Suh, a joke Chris hasn't quite gotten out of his system yet. Mailbag takes stabs at big time upsets given that, again, this is March.

Once that debate settles, it's on to talk about the NFL scouting combine, using observations and Kent's own RAS scores. Jerry Mallory (@JerryMalloryNFL) is the second guest, the mysterious Green Ranger of the PODcast. He talks about the defensive free agents available in the upcoming market, plus he sticks around for mailbag to bring his eccentric personality to an already off-the-rails segment of #AskPOD.

Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah just got the franchise tag! The PODcast crew discusses the implications this has for the Lions roster going int 2018, whether it was the right move, whether it was a necessary move, and what this will do to the Lions cap space. Free agency preview continues with offensive linemen talk, which Chris tries to sit out. The trio also discusses NFL rule change proposals, including limiting pass interference to 15 yards and changes to the infamous catch rule. Chris only really wants to talk about Ezekiel Ansah, particularly whether the Lions will give him even a franchise tag.
