031: How To Wake Up Early During The Week | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

This episode is Part 1 of a 3-part series on productivity and time management.  This week, I share 5 practical things you can do – starting tomorrow – to start waking up early during the week to do what you want to do for yourself. Adulting is pretty much about managing different priorities, goals, relationships, and responsibilities.  For me, managing all the expectations and goals I’ve set starts with growing my faith and waking up early.  I have read books and articles, and listened to way too many interviews with people I consider successful and high achieving.  Waking up early to do things that matter is a common habit mentioned in the research, and from the personal stories of many successful people, regardless of their field, notoriety, or profession. As we get older, our personal and professional ambitions get more fancy and complex, and intersect in ways we don’t realize – for better or worse.  Since our days are still capped at 24 hours, it is increasingly important to have habits, practices, and systems in place that will support the likelihood of us achieving that goals we have set.  Because time is one of our most valuable and limited resources, I wanted to spend a few episodes on productivity and time management. Mentioned in this episode: * 13TH, the Netflix Documentary directed by Ava DuVernay * Laura Vanderkam’s audio book “What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast“ Let’s Connect!  028: How To Prepare and Give a TEDx Talk | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Back in October of 2015, I had the honor of delivering a TEDx talk at TEDxVillanovaU.  I talked about the experience a bit in Episode 2 before I gave my talk, but I wanted to give more information on how I was invited and selected to be a TEDx speaker, how I prepared for my talk, and how you might be able to participate in a TEDx event – as a speaker or as a guest. Here are three keys to preparing and giving a TEDx talk: * Believe you have an idea worth spreading. * Seek the opportunity, or at least be ready for it when it comes. * Prepare like nobody’s business.   Just My Thoughts The Olympics dominated the news for the month of August.  Ryan Lochte lied about being robbed and tried to be slick by flying back the states and dying his hair.  The USA brought home 121 medals, but women, and black women particularly, showed out! Women like Simone Biles, Michelle Carter, Simone Manuel, Dalilah Muhammed, Gabby Douglas, Allison Felix, Ibtijah Muhammed, and many olders made true history in Brazil. #Blackgirlmagic is real. Mentioned In This Episode * Look for TEDx events near you * General information about applying and organizing a TEDX event * The 10 most popular TEDx (two of my favorites are on the list) * Frank Ocean dropped an album. Two, actually. After 4 years. * And so did Maxwell!  How I missed this last month is beyond me. * Join the Email List!
