Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with a couple of stories that prove that it’s actually wise to listen to that little voice in your head. You might just end up saving someone’s life. Today I’m going to share two stories from "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Miracles and More" that I thought were wonderful examples of why we should follow our gut feelings.
I want to talk about dementia today, and how it affects almost all of us in our families at some point. It kind of snuck up on our family and became very real after our mother died a year ago and we started to take care of our father. And I was so grateful to have been exposed to all the Chicken Soup for the Soul stories on this topic because they helped me so much to be prepared, and to have a better idea of how to react. So I’m going to share two my favorite stories with you today, ones that helped me considerably in this new world of caring for an elderly parent. Both of these stories were published in "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Living with Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias."
Today I’m pleased to bring back Dr. Mike Dow for his fourth appearance on the Chicken Soup for the Soul podcast. What I love about Mike is his practical approach to psychology, and the advice that he gives us that is very do-able. Dr. Mike Dow, Psy.D, is a highly sought-after psychotherapist and the New York Times bestselling author of "The Brain Fog Fix" and "Diet Rehab." Throughout his career, he has hosted several hit television series, served as a go-to expert in relationships, brain health, addiction and mental illness, and can currently be heard weekly on Hay House Radio’s "The Dr. Mike Show."
