 The Gospels - Last Supper - Matthew 26:1-35; Mark 14:1-31; Luke 22:1-39; John 13:1-38 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

The Gospels: Full of Grace and Truth Last Supper Matthew 26:1-35; Mark 14:1-31; Luke 22:1-39; John 13:1-38   Judas Strikes a Deal   And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, “You know that after two days is [the feast of] the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.” After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests, the scribes and the elders of the people assembled together, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, (Matthew 26:1-3; Mark 14:1)   And consulted that they might take Jesus by trickery, and put him to death. For they feared the people. (Matthew 26:4; Mark 14:1; Luke 22:2)   But they said, “Not on the feast [day], lest there be an uproar among the people.” (Matthew 26:5)   Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, one of the twelve, and he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, to betray him unto them. (Mark 14:10; Luke 22:3-4)   When SATAN enters   And said [unto them], "What will you give me, and I will deliver him unto you?” And when they heard it, they were glad, and they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. (Matthew 26:15; Mark 14:11)   And I said unto them, “If you think good, give [me] my price; and if not, forbear.” So they weighed for my price thirty [pieces] of silver. And the LORD said unto me, “Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was priced at of them.” And I took the thirty [pieces] of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD. (Zechariah 11:12-13)   An interesting FULFILLMENT of prophecy                 And he promised, and from that time he sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude. (Matthew 26:16; Luke 22:6)   And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, “Where do you want us to go and prepare that you may eat the passover?” And he sent Peter and John, and he said to them, “Go into the city, and a man bearing a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him wherever he shall go in, and say unto the goodman of the house, The Master says, “My time is at hand; Where is the guest chamber, where I will keep the passover at your house with my disciples?” (Matthew 26:18; Mark 14:12-14; Luke 22:8)   “And he will show you a large upper room furnished [and] prepared: there make ready for us.” And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as

The Gospels - If I Be Lifted Up - John 12:20-36 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

The Gospels: Full of Grace and Truth If I Be Lifted Up John 12:20-36   And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: (John 12:20)   The God - FEARERS   The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, “Sir, we would see Jesus.” Philip came and told Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip told Jesus. (John 12:21-22)   To be more like PHILLIP   And Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.” (John 12:23)   The HOUR has come The hour His glorification is also his humiliation   “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit.” (John 12:24)   Fruit only comes through DEATH   “He that loves his life shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.” (John 12:25)   Are we supposed to HATE our life?   “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will [my] Father honor.” (John 12:26)   Honor comes through SERVICE               “Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour." “Father, glorify your name.” Then came there a voice from heaven, [saying], “I have both glorified [it], and will glorify [it] again.” The people therefore, that stood by, and heard [it], said that it thundered: others said, “An angel spake to him.” (John 12:27-29)   HEARING what you want to HEAR   Jesus answered and said, “This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.” “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.” “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all [men] unto me.” This he said, signifying what death he should die. (John 12:30-33)

The Gospels - Sheep and Goats - Matthew 25:31-46 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

The Gospels: Full of Grace and Truth Sheep and Goats Matthew 25:31-46   When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: (Matthew 25:31)   When …. Then …. THRONE When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him When the nations have heard the gospel When you see the abomination of desolation Signs in the sun, moon and stars Then shall he sit Upon the throne of “his glory” This is not the bema seat This is not the great white throne This is the throne of his father David   And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides [his] sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. (Matthew 25:32-33)   Judgment of the NATIONS Nations present when the Son of man shall come in his glory with the holy angels   Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: (Matthew 25:34)   KINGDOM prepared for the sheep nations Inherit The kingdom prepared for you From the foundation of the world Not the place Jesus is preparing for his bride   For I was an hungered, and you gave me meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in: Naked, and you clothed me: I was sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came unto me. (Matthew 25:35-36)   The bare NECESSITIES Food & water Housing Clothes Companionship           Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed [thee]? or thirsty, and gave [thee] drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and to

In the midst of this discussion, Jesus speaks of "this generation" not passing away until all these things were fulfilled. Was Jesus wrong in thinking and teaching that "his" generation would not pass away until all things were fulfilled? Was Jesus correct, and futurists are wrong in expecting another second coming because he already came in AD 70? Or did Jesus means something else when he spoke of "this generation?"  The Gospels: Shattering Generosity Myths - Mark 12:41-44; Luke 21:1-4 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:35:33

The Gospels: Full of Grace and Truth Shattering Myths about Generosity Mark 12:41-44; Luke 21:1-4   And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. (Mark 12:41)   And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two coins worth 2/5 of a cent. (Mark 12:42)   And he called [unto him] his disciples, and said unto them, “Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow has cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:" (Mark 12:43)   “For all [they] did cast in unto the offerings of God out of what they had left; but she of what she was lacking did cast in all that she had, [even] all her living.” (Mark 12:44; Luke 21:4)   What I give is nobody’s BUSINESS I don’t know what anybody gives Jesus is watching the people give and makes a point of calling his disciples’ attention to what and why people are giving We don’t say this about retail stores We don’t have a problem claiming our tax return off of our giving People give because it makes them feel GOOD Giving = sacrifice People who give are happier 10% is enough to make a difference Giving encourages financial responsibility Budget Live on less than than you make Live debt free Spend on what you value Gratefulness for God’s provision Protect against greed Those who give are more cheerful and less depressed If we give, God will make us RICH Large ONE-TIME donations make more of an impact The best time for one-time donations When there is a one-time expense The downside of having a huge bank account Generosity becomes disassociated from discipleship Urgency and mission usually goes with it Before long, a few families are holding on to a building and large bank account, but not using it for the Kingdom in any way Consistent giving allows churches to budget and function responsibly

The Gospels: Full of Grace and Truth David’s Son and God’s Son Matthew 22:41-46; Mark 12:35-37; Luke 20:41-44   While the Pharisees were gathered together and Jesus taught in the temple, Jesus asked them, (Matthew 22:41; Mark 12:35)   Saying, “How say the scribes that Christ” (Matthew 22:42; Mark 12:35)   Who is CHRIST?   “is the Son of David?” (Matthew 22:42; Mark 12:35)   2. Son of DAVID?   “What do you think of Christ? Whose son is he?” They say unto him, "[The Son] of David.” (Matthew 22:42; Mark 12:35)   He said unto them, “How then does David, in the book of Psalms, by the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 22:43; Mark 12:36; Luke 20:42)   3. David or the HOLY Spirit?   “call him Lord, saying,” (Matthew 22:43; Mark 12:36; Luke 20:42)   “The LORD said unto my Lord,” (Matthew 22:44)   4. Two LORDS?   “Sit on my right hand,” (Matthew 22:44)   5. Who is on the THRONE?   till I make your enemies your footstool?” (Matthew 22:44)   6. How long will Jesus stay SEATED?   “If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?" (Matthew 22:45; Mark 12:37)   7. That’s what CHRISTMAS is all about Charlie Brown             And the common people heard him gladly.  The Gospels: The Anointing by Mary | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:27

The Gospels: Full of Grace and Truth The Anointing by Mary Matthew 26:6-13; Mark 14:3-9; Luke 7:36-50; John 12:1-11   Now six days before the passover, when Jesus was in Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead, one of the Pharisees desired to eat with him. And he went in the house of Simon, the leper, who was also a Pharisee. There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. (Matthew 26:6; Luke 7:36; John 12:1-2) WHO are you? There came unto him a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box containing a pound of spikenard, a very precious ointment. She stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet. And she broke the box, and poured it on his head, and anointed him with the ointment. The house was filled with the odor of the ointment. (Matthew 26:7; Mark 14:3; Luke 7:37-38; John 12:3) An EXTRAVAGENT expression Now when the Pharisee which had invited him saw [it], he spake within himself, saying, “This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman [this is] that touches him: for she is a sinner.” (Luke 7:39) BLIND spots And Jesus answering said unto him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he said, “Master, say on.” “There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed 1 1/2 years wages, and the other 2 months wages. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?” Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one he forgave most.” And he said unto him, “You have rightly judged.” And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, you gave me no water for my feet: but she has washed my feet with tears, and wiped [them] with the hairs of her head. You didn’t kiss me, but this woman since the time I came in has not ceased to kiss my feet. You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but this woman has anointed my feet with ointment.  Wherefore I say unto you, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loves little.” (Luke 9:40-47) We all want FORGIVENESS And he said unto her, “Your sins are forgiven.” And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, “Who is this that forgives sins also?” And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” (Luke 7:48-50) How are we FORGIVEN? But when his disciples saw [it], they had indignation, and Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which would betray him, asked, “To what purpose [is] this waste? For this ointment might have been

The Gospels: Raising of Lazarus | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 41:12

The Gospels: Full of Grace and Truth Raising of Lazarus John 11:1-44   Now a certain [man] was sick, [named] Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. (It was [that] Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom you love is sick.” When Jesus heard [that], he said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” (John 11:1-4)   COMFORTING yet CONFUSING words   Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was. Then after that he said to [his] disciples, “Let us go into Judaea again.”[His] disciples said unto him, “Master, the Jews of late sought to stone you; and you’re going there again?” (John 11:5-8)   Caught between two DESIRES   Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbles not, because he sees the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbles, because there is no light in him.” He said these things, and after that he said unto them, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.” Then said his disciples, “Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.” Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, “Lazarus is dead.” (John 11:9-14)   What happens when we DIE? Jesus redefines death for the believer as sleep   “And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent you may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.” Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” (John 11:15-16)   Was doubting Thomas given a bad RAP?   Then when Jesus came, he found that he had [lain] in the grave four days already. Now Bethany was near unto Jerusalem, about 1.7 miles away. And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat [still] in the house. Then said Martha unto Jesus, “Lord, if you would have been here, my brother would not have died. But I know, that even now, whatever you will ask of God, God will give [it] to you.” (John 11:17-22)   A PASSIVE - AGGRESSIVE request   Jesus said unto her, “Your brother shall rise again.” Martha said unto him,
