Was It An Act Of Kindness Or Class Solidarity? On this episode, we discuss the recent controversy surrounding Ellen Degeneres attending a Dallas Cowboys game with former President, George W. Bush. After a photo of them and their spouses went viral on Twitter, Ellen addressed the widespread criticism in a 4-minute speech on her talk show. However, it was more misdirection than anything else. Ellen casually dismissed the gravity of the issue by saying "I'm friends with a lot of people who don't share the same beliefs that I have" & "When I say, 'be kind to one another,' I don't only mean the people that think the same way that you do." With just those two sentences, it is painfully obvious that Ellen is out of touch & has used her wealth & class to attain the privilege to agree to disagree. Following our discussion about Hallow Eve's floorshow look from episode 5 of Dragula season 3, many of our listeners reached out to remind us that the FCC prohibits the use or simulation of menstrual blood in television programs, commercials, or print ads. With that in mind, we did some research into the matter and decided to share our findings. It was no surprise to us that the "regulation" is outdated, leads to misinformation, and is rooted in misogyny.
