In this week's show, here's what we discussed: No live callers Ryan went to Brandon's list of pre-asked questions.  Our first question was about chronic insomnia. Ryan talked extensively about sleep hygiene and best practices on preparing for sleep.  I talked about different sleep archetypes and the nature of sleep cycles and what we might learn from those.  We talked about sleep from an evolutionary standpoint as compared to modern times.  Then we had a question about how the body responds to sickness, why is blood sugar high even when the person isn't eating, so Ryan and I speculated about the role of not eating in raising cortisol specifically to raise blood sugar.    Join FDN founder Reed Davis, FDN Mentors, and Special Guests to learn about functional lab testing and data-driven protocols to confidently solve health issues and grow your health coaching business. I’m taking 300ish mg/day. It seems to me that the recommendation is to get off of that. If so, what’s a good method to do that? Tapering? Cold turkey (yikes!)? Want to know for myself and for future clients. I did purchase the supplement Wean Caffeine, but haven’t been brave enough to start the process haha. We’ve got three kiddos and a 4th one on the way, so caffeine has been my buddy for awhile! In this week's show, here's what we discussed: Caller: Trainee calling in for more tips on help with her insomnia during PMS. She's improved alot thru DRESS already. Can anyone suggest a fairly accurate continuous monitor that could give information on metabolism, glucose levels and perhaps other markers? I have someone asking for this and it may help them gain insight into how their bodies react to certain foods, quality of sleep and type of exercise etc?I am on module 2, which is HPA axis and adrenal testing. My question is, when I am learning about the normal and chronic stress response slides, did you guys commit those to memory until moving on or did you find that clicked as you continued moving through the course? I am not coming from formal training of any kind. The language is familiar because of self studying but how everything fits together is new. My perfectionism says to stay until I have a working knowing of these charts. Thoughts?Hey FDN friends, Could someone clarify for me when it’s best to take Olivirex?  Getting ready to titrate that one.  I forgot to clarify in my R&R a while back, as to best time to take it.   I’m doing Biocidin and Pylori-X 30 min. before meals. Hoping to lump it all together   Join FDN founder Reed Davis, FDN Mentors, and Special Guests to learn about functional lab testing and data-driven protocols to confidently solve health issues and grow your health coaching business.  The Functional Health Coaching Show | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:00:00

In this week's show, here's what we discussed: 1. Hi!! Fairly new here…only on module 3…hectic lately! Question, anyone deal with a client who has 2+ autoimmune diseases and randomly break out in hives? And they didn’t change their diet or routines? What would you suggest? 2. Hi everyone! I’m new to the program and excited to be here. What could possible recommendations be for someone whose cholesterol is high and Vitamin D is deficient? He eats mainly chicken, rice, veggies, cheese, nuts and plays tennis 6 times a week. He takes vitamins A, C, D3, zinc and fish oil daily 3. For the new material - Client Review #2, his estrogen levels are considered in range and then has low progesterone. Even so, the ratio indicates progesterone dominance.. trying to understand whether this is clinically significant? 4. Going through the GI-map module. Can someone explain why Anti-gliadin IgA may appear normal when Secretory IgA is low?  I’m assuming it’s because the immune system has shut down therefore making it difficult for the body to produce the inflammatory response of anti-gliadin IgA but would like to make sure my brain is processing this correctly.     Join FDN founder Reed Davis, FDN Mentors, and Special Guests to learn about functional lab testing and data-driven protocols to confidently solve health issues and grow your health coaching business.
