The Herbal Prepper Podcast, Episode 5- Valerian | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 51:20

This week, I discuss Valerian. This is the first sedative herb I've included in this series, and an important one. Both effective and safe for almost everyone, this remedy will be of great value during and after an emergency. This show covers: Two new videos are up on YouTube since last weeks podcast- How to Make a Comfrey Poultice, and How to Make Magnesium Oil. Herbal Prepper News: The ebola outbreak, some perspective on its lethality, the lack of a cure, and what (if anything) you can do if it were to reach the US. Herbal First Aid Kit- Herb of the Week: Valeriana officinalis Two things I did forget to mention in this broadcast: A reminder that next week's herb will be Calendula officinalis. If you are working along in this series, be sure to have that on hand. I will have a video on tincture making using dried valerian root either tomorrow or the next day, all depending on when I can get to the store to get more vodka and Everclear, so I can demonstrate the differences in how tinctures are made with each.  The Herbal Prepper Podcast, Episode 4: Echinacea | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:50

This week's episode is all about echinacea. Most commonly, echinacea is used to treat acute respiratory infections, like the cold or flu. But is this the best use? This is an herbal remedy with more confusion about how to use it than almost any other I can think of. It is an important addition to any herbal first aid kit, and has more uses in chronic illness than most people know. Which form of echinacea is most potent? How much should one take? What part of the plant is used? I answer all this and more in today's episode. Also, I go over the next four herbs we will be covering here on the podcast: valerian, calendula, oregon grape root, and St. John's wort. Plus, Herbal Prepper News, and a news story about the FDA, banning the word "folate, and an update on when the heck the comfrey video will be uploaded.  The Herbal Prepper Podcast, Episode 3: Cayenne | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 58:55

Good morning, everyone! This week's show is a good one- lots of important information that you need for your herbal preps! A few updates to the website I'm now on Pinterest The Live Show from Sunday, A Collapse-Resiliant Health Care Plan, and a teaser for next week's episode News: 75% of all health care expenses is from chronic disease News: EPA targets Wyoming man for building a pond on his property Today's First Aid Kit's Ingredient and it's uses: Cayenne Cayenne is a strong herb with a powerful voice. You cannot ignore cayenne! It has a range of impressive benefits, from arthritic joints to regulating blood pressure to tooth aches, cayenne does more than you might think. It is known for helping to stimulate the heart muscle, as a decongestant, to fight intestinal infections, and in boosting the metabolism. It is used to stimulate hair growth as well as bringing circulation to the extremities- very important in certain types of cold weather injuries. I must emphasize how important it is to do your own research and reach your own conclusions. And I strongly encourage you to investigate cayenne and especially it's cardiac applications. Cayenne has a lot to offer to almost everyone, and deserves a place (or two, or three) in your Herbal First Aid Kit, and ultimately also in your Herbal Medic Kit (that we'll be making down the line here).
