I got the idea driving around and seeing how unhappy most people look driving. You can only hold 3-4 ideas in your brain (prefrontal cortex). If you fill your head with negative thoughts you will tend to attract more negativity into your life. Fact. The more you focus on positive things, the easier life will get for you. The universe even has a way of helping out by throwing ideas and people that can help into your life. Pretty cool.I also talk about why supplement reviews can be very misleading. Yes the companies can out and out lie about their product but the user can also give you misleading info. I forgot to mention in the podcast that some companies are giving out free samples for review. Not all these people work out but they are obligated to say something anyway. A world I have only heard about and have not yet had the displeasure to visit: Planet Fitness. But if I ever do you can bet I am going to set off their siren system!This leads us into our talk about risk to reward ratios. Before you join a gym you need to think about 3 things. 1. What is my goal.2. How fast can I get there. (Reward)3. Can I get there fast and avoid potential injuries? (Risk).Everybody has a different idea of how much risk they can tolerate for a reward. A 20 year old should have a different risk/reward ration that a 50 year old.This brings us into the world of the pseudo gym. It is boxing but it isn't a boxing gym. It is called MMA but fighters wouldn't train there. it is an interesting hybrid that wants to give you some fighting skills but in a friendlier environment.Do they work? Hi Y'all,Episode 59 explores some of my nutty ideas about Sports drinks and Sun Tan Lotion. Ooops I mean sun protection.Again, I am not asking you to believe everything I say but I do think it is wise to question authority and things we take for the truth.A perfect example is the sport drink. When should you drink them, why should you drink them and how often. People never seem to think about this. The central concern about all this is your electrolyte balance and do you need help in maintaining it.10 years ago this would not have been an issue. Now with everyone drinking filtered, reverse osmosis, purified to the bejeezus water you should probably be drinking a sports drink. Purified water gives you clean water, yes I won't argue that. But it doesn't replace the electrolytes you have lost through sweat. I talk about why you need electrolytes and water in balance in the podcast but this is why you can drink gallons of purified water and never feel satiated. Great for water companies, terrible for you because you never get hydrated. Think about it.As for this obsession we have about sunblock, I have a couple thoughts about that that make a lot of sense but you probably won't agree with.So have a listen. If you knew what they were doing to farmers in India you would be disgusted. They can talk all they want to about feeding the world as their noble cause. The earth has it's own EMF but we are now basking in artificially made EMF. Just search HIIT timer and you will find one.So you remember the drill. 3 rounds.Beginners set your timer for 40 seconds of work and 20 seconds rest.Intermediates set your timer for 45 seconds of work and 15 seconds rest.Advanced set your timer for 50 seconds work and 10 seconds rest. You advanced types might want to try all 3 rounds without a rest.For this workout you will need a kettle bell and some dumbbells and or bands. People think getting in shape is getting in shape. This is why people go from the couch to crossfit to the hospital. There are many different branches of fitness. Find the one that is aligned with your goal and experience.2. I would love to say personal trainer stereotypes are a myth. I will say this, we are all not alike. Find a trainer that works in the field you want to train in. In other words, don't ask me to coach you on marathon running (or mummy kicks). 3. Some trainers use corrective exercise. Most do not. Why do you need it? Well you will just have to listen to the episode.4. Shopping on price for a personal trainer is a recipe for utter disaster. 5. Don't expect the trainer to workout for you. This week is sheer madness in Denver. The Bronco loss has brought out the lunacy in fans. Firing a coach that only took you to the playoffs every year and a Super Bowl? Booing a Hall of Fame Quarterback? You would think the team went 2-14. A few episodes ago, Episode 44 to be exact, we started talking about the weird and infuriating phenomenon of doing everything right but still being unable to lose weight. I am not talking about the guy that sneaks out for cheeseburgers at night, drinks a case of beer over the weekend then moans about his inability to drop fat. No, I am taking about people who are watching what they are eating, working out and hitting a dead end.There are a couple of causes and really they need to be diagnosed by a Doctor, not a guy on a funkcast.
