ACE 002: Win by panic: The magic of urgency | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 25:47

In this episode, I talk about one of my favorite tactics for making things happen efficiently: Using urgency to force yourself to perform faster and better. One of my first and most popular blog posts here already covers this topic, but I kind of focused on different areas here. If you want to see the original post, you can find it here. Under the foundational principle of the utility of urgency, I cover these three subtopics: Urgency causes us to value our time more. You can use the education from moments of urgency to tell yourself how to perform more efficiently at other times. You can manufacture urgency to cause yourself to perform better even when things otherwise wouldn't be urgent. Special thanks Special credit and many thanks are owed to Benjamin Krumwiede and Abigail Gschwend for their performance of Ravel as my podcast’s theme music. I’m also grateful to Josh Rodriguez for volunteering to give me a hand in recording the music (during an extremely busy week of finals! I don’t know how he does it). I also can’t thank Pat Flynn enough for the world of difference he has made for everything I do online. Not only is he an enormous inspiration for me, but his podcasting tutorial is what got me up and running.

ACE 001: Values and getting the most from life | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 34:45

It's finally here! ACE Productivity is on the air! In this foundational first episode, I kick us off by talking about the why behind productivity. Making the best use of our time is ultimately all about filling our lives with value, so that's what I focus on this first week. The main principle: Always think in terms of value. Within that, principle, there are three points to making it work: Always know what value you're looking for (no matter what you're doing). Recognize that time is the ultimate source of value. Constantly work to maximize the intended value of any length of time, no matter what activity you're engaged in. Yes, I know, it sounds kind of abstract, but that's because this first episode is about a basic principle. In future episodes, we'll talk about applying this principle in very practical ways. For now, I hope the show will do this for you: Inspire you to place a high value on your time. Get you excited about all the possibilities for improving your own life. Challenge you to rethink everything you do so you always know your "why." Also mentioned in the show In the episode, I mentioned my most popular blog post of all time, which how I spend just 10 minutes a day on Facebook: Getting the most from Facebook without wasting time Special thanks Special credit and many thanks are owed to Benjamin Krumwiede and Abigail Gschwend for their performance of Ravel as my podcast's theme music. I'm also grateful to Josh Rodriguez for volunteering to give me a hand in recording the music (during an extremely busy week of finals! I don't know how he does it). I also can't thank Pat Flynn enough for the world of difference he has made for everything I do online. Not only is he an enormous inspiration for me, but his podcasting tutorial is what got me up and running.
