 Don’t Forget the Good Things – YDKC43 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 13:57

Often, it is easier for us to recall the bad things or the things that didn't go right in our lives than it is to remember the good things. I was feeling uneasy about some classes I wanted to take. After sharing my feelings with my daughter, I realized I was feeling uncomfortable with my decision to take the classes because I was associating this new adventure in my life with a similar old event that did not turn out good for me. I followed some instructions in a book I was reading entitled, "Basic Principles of the Science of Mind" by Dr. Frederick Bailes. The author suggested that one make a list of all the good things one could remember. I made a list of the good things in my life -- all the right decisions I have made -- all of the best compliments I have ever received. When I looked at my list, I smiled. I believe you will smile too when you make a list of the good things and you see on paper all the things that you did do right -- or, have gone right in your life. We experience more good than bad. However, the bad stands out in our memories more than the good. ********** Because of new projects I am involved with, I may not return with a new podcast episode until January. Much love to all and celebrate every day. Peace- http://youdontknowcrazy.com/ http://wambui-bahati.com/

Holiday Stress? No Thank You -YDKC42 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:58

I talk about the coming holidays and how stressful holidays can be. I also state that unlike taxes, we don't have to do holidays. We can choose to celebrate or not celebrate in a manner that feels good to us. I also speak about the fact that that I was raised in a Baptist church and our family celebrated Christmas. I talk about the anger I felt when I found out my gifts didn't come from Santa. I felt betrayed by adults and never trusted them the same after that. I vowed that when I grew up and I had children I would never tell them the Santa lie. My children and I enjoyed Christmas and the Christmas stories. However, I always told them that when they get a gift it is because someone loved them enough to share something wonderful with them. Let everyday be a holiday. We don't have to wait for someone to tell us when to give gifts to our friends or give something thing back ti those in need. Celebrate everyday in your special way.

 Crazy for Me – YDKC41 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 9:14

This is not the podcast I was planning to do on this day. When I attempted to record the podcast I was going to do, none of my recording devices and gadgets that I normally use would work. Therefore, I decided to use material that was already recorded. This podcast is the introduction track to a CD I recorded a few years ago entitled, "Crazy for me - How I Got Over Bipolar Disorder and Other Life Stuff". It is not a singing CD -- in this CD I am still talking. LOL! In this recording I share what it felt like when I was dealing with depression and other so-called mental illnesses -- and, How I took my life back.

Domestic Violence & Relationship Abuse, Go Away! -YDKC40 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:02

October is "Domestic Violence Awareness Month". I believe what we focus on we create more of. Therefore, I am not going to dwell too long on this topic at this time. However, I do feel that it is important for people to be aware that domestic violence and relationship abuse is prevalent and is a real challenge in our communities. Also, understand that men as well as women sometimes find themselves in abusive relationships. An average of three people are killed in this country every day as a result of a domestic violence incident. In this episode I address what I believe is the most asked question about domestic violence, "Why do they [the person being abused] stay?" I also talk about what some of the warning signs are, the importance of paying attention to our gut feelings, and what I believe the solution to domestic violence and relationship abuse is. I conclude by talking about the "PLAYER". Players don't hit women. They just play with them emotionally. Is this abuse? Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233

My Ninth Grade Report Card & Adults vs Students -YDKC39 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 30:31

I found my ninth grade report card from 1964 -1965. How I remember me as a student and what the report card reveals are two totally different perspectives. My homeroom teacher reports that I was somehow too talkative and and out of control during the first half of my ninth grade year. I am also trying to figure out how I could have gotten an 'N' (N = Needs improvement) in homeroom conduct. I remember me being fun and funny. Could my teachers have mistaken my wonderful gifts of joy and bigger than life self-expression as a problem? I also describe a couple of situations where I thought the adults did not respect or honor students as they should have. I share how much fun my sister and I used to have taking turns being characters from the musical, West Side Story. We would dance for hours to that sound track in our living room. I never thought in a million years that I would meet any of the people on that album. However, as an adult, I had the pleasure of performing with the late Larry Kert (Tony in the original Broadway version of West Side Story) in the musical Two Gentlemen of Verona.

 Dream YDKC38 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 26:26

Wambui talks about how she once thought she didn't dream. However, most dream experts agree that everyone dreams. But, not everyone remembers their dreams. Wambui compares dreams to imagination. Wambui believe that when we use our imagination we are dreaming dreams that we can control, while sleeping dreams are involuntary. Just as one can create a story or movie or a garment by first imagining it, we also have the ability to create the life - and, even world that we desire with our imaginations.  Are Your Clothes Wearing YOU Out? YDKC37 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:28

Wambui talks about fashion -- and, how, worldwide, it is a $7 trillion a year industry. Fashion is not something you can choose not to participate in because in most places clothes are necessary. She shares some of her views on fashion. She talks about a book she read about a year ago entitled, "Killer Clothes" by by Anna Maria Clement, PhD, NMD, LN and Brian R. Clement, PhD, NMD, LN . They are co-directors of the Hippocratic's health Institute. Wambui highly recommends the book and share information about "Killer Clothes" not to scare but to empower listeners by making them aware and more empowered and healthy consumers. The book makes us aware of the amount of chemicals and toxins that are inn our clothes today. She also talk about the effects that a bra and other constricting clothes could possible have on our health. The two main topics/questions that are focused on are: 1. If we are what we eat, are we also what we wear? 2. What have we sacrificed for fashion? More Women Are Literally Chopping Off Their Pinky Toes to Fit Into ... Wambui says, "Our bodies are our temples. Have fun with fashion and wear beautiful healthy garments like the royal beings that we are."

“Honor Those Who Are Not Present” YDKC36 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:43

I start off talking about how to deal with the 'craziness' of the US and World political scene. I talk about two things in particular. 1. Go out and check it out and research what is going on around you. Understanding the history -- the real -- history of events and things can empower one. 2. Go within. Study and know yourself. I then speak on the topic: "Honor Those Who Are Not Present". This is a phrase I first heard Stephen Covey use when he was being interviewed by Tony Robbins some years ago. "Honor Those Who Are Not Present" is about dishonoring someone who is not present by gossiping or speaking negatively about them --- and, what does that say about the person speaking negatively? I sum it up with a mention of how love is the key to nearly every thing wonderful. www.wambui.com

What Are You Ordering From the Universal Menu? YDKC35 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 25:04

We order from the Universal Menu every second of every day. We are ordering with each thought we think and every word we speak. Many of us live day to day on automatic. That is, we forget that we have the power to choose not only our thoughts, but, also our emotions. Our thoughts and emotions feed our subconscious mind and send a signal to the Universe / God. The Universe responds by turning our thoughts and emotions into our things – our environment – our situations – our lives.  Call Yourself Magnificent! YDKC34 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:58

Studies have shown that our behaviors rise and fall with the expectations that others have for and about us. We have the ability to label ourselves anything we want to. Why not label ourselves MAGNIFICENT!

 Let’s Talk About Television -YDKC33 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 33:30

"The turning point of the 20th century wasn't on television, it was television." ~ tagline from The Farnsworth Invention -- Broadway show 2007-2008 In this episode, I talk about television! I talk about the role that TV has played in my life — in all of our lives. I share good fuzzy TV memories. However, I do ponder what the purpose of television is? How does it serve us?  Getting Crazy For Myself-YDKC32 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:12

I've been thinking about changing the name of my podcast from "You Don't Know Crazy" to -- well -- I'm not sure exactly what I would change it to. However, since I have been podcasting, I've started studying how to do better and more effective podcasts. One thing that I keep hearing is how the title of your podcast should reflect -- or in some way give a clue what the podcast is about. I think my title could do a better job of that. However, in this podcast, I explain why I will keep the title as it is. As I say in the podcast intro, "This podcast is named for my book, 'You Don't Know Crazy'. In the book I tell the story of how mental illness stole my life -- and, how I took my life back." ********** Several people have told me that they have a problem with my use of the word crazy when referring to people with mental illnesses. Well, I just thought it was time to have some fun with that word. You see, it wasn't until I got 'crazy for myself' that I was able to turn my life around. In fact, I encourage YOU to get crazy for YOURSELF!  . . .  as in crazy in love . . .

 It’s Power Day – Today and Every Day!-YDKC31 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:30

It's Power Day - Today and Every Day! Today I want to talk about power. P O W E R I love saying the word 'power'. Power is a beautiful word. Power is a beautiful thing -- our self-power, that is. Power is wonderful when we understand that it is not something we try to control others with. It is not about allowing others to have control over our power. I encourage everyone to embrace their own innate, God-given power. Our power is our life force. Without our power, we are, well, -- powerless. When we are powerless, we are depressed or frustrated. Or, we have that 'Eck, what is the point?' attitude. We can lightly compare our power to the electrical power of our homes. For instance, we may have fancy light fixtures and light switches and bulbs that provide just the right ambiance, but without power, our light fixtures and switches and bulbs are powerless. Our cars are the same. Without gas and all the things connected to give our cars power, our cars are powerless. We are not going anywhere. Here is the really good news: We are never powerless! Unlike our homes and cars, we don't depend on outside sources for our power. We just think we do sometimes. We were each born as powerful beings. However, over the course of our lives, many of us are talked our of our power, taught our our power, persuaded out of our power -- and we are sometime told point blank that we are powerless. It is our warped perception of our lives that causes us to feel powerless. Think of the stories about mothers who found themselves in situations where under normal circumstances they would have felt powerless -- like a mother who can't swim but manages to swim out to rescue a drowning child. Or, the mother who believes she's not very strong, lifts a car off of a child to save the child's life. * * * * * * * * * * A Story of Power Many thousands - if not Millions of years ago lived a wonderful, high priestess - goddess who at that particular time in universal history ruled the world. She was concerned, however, with the fact that man (when I say man in this story, it includes woman too). She was concerned with the fact that man on earth was misusing his power. She witnessed fighting among the people. She witnessed stealing. She witnessed people lying to each other. She witnessed people cheating each other. The people were starting too many wars. She witnessed some of her own powerful associates withholding information from the people that the people needed to know. She witnessed some of her own powerful associates overburdening the people with too many new taxes and too many new laws and rules. She didn’t understand. She thought to herself, "These are beautiful magnificent, amazing, divine beings. She didn’t understand why they would act as something other than themselves -- as something lower than themselves." She had had enough of seeing man misuse his power. She decided to take man’s power away and hide it until man was ready to use his God-given power responsibly. She wanted to see man do the great and wonderful things that man was capable of doing. Until man decided they would use their power to create and love and lift up one another; she decided to take man’s power and hide it. But, where? She decided to hold a conference with the very smartest gods, goddesses and other royal beings. She noted that it was not that some people were gods, goddesses and smart - while others were not. It’s just that some knew they were gods, goddesses and smart -- and others did not. So she invited the ones who knew they were smart. She told them the reason for the meeting was to come up with a place to hide man’s power because man was misusing his wonderful and amazing power. The conference went into its third day of meetings and discussions about where to hide man’s power so that he could not find it. There had been no acceptable ideas as to where to hide man’s power.

Julie Takes Me to Madrid Spain – YDKC30 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:45

My daughter, Julie, works diligently on any task she is given. She is dedicated to self-improvement, self-awareness and spiritual growth. She is not afraid to dream and she is not afraid to allow good and beautiful things and people in her life. She often ushers me onto a more empowering path. In spite of the challenging chapters in our earlier lives, both of my daughters, Marie and Julie, move through life gracefully and with open hearts. Recently, Julie, invited me -- or, perhaps I should say, took me to Madrid, Spain with her. I had a most amazing time. It turned out to be an adventure that was a dream come true for me. This is truly amazing because it wasn't even my dream! It was hers. I am grateful to Julie for allowing me to be in her fantastically fabulous dream.  The ‘N-Word’? Powerless – YDKC29 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:43

Here is what I think is important to note about the ‘n-word’: The 'n-word' is just a word. I am not about to give my power over to a word. Therefore, the ‘n-word’ holds no power over me. One can ‘n-word’ me all day long. I’m not sure what the on...
