 Episode 13: Probe Series 2 – Peter Robinson | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:56:21

THIS PROG: In the second of a new series of episode of chiastic improvised interviews, my guest is local improv practitioner and ruthless biochemical genius, Peter Robinson. We are once again joined by two interviewers who wield the tools of their trade at two interviewees. In the first, Osborn Black interviews Tayler Merrickson about his work as a surrogate test taker, and the supernatural implications of his skills. In the second interview, Randolph Martins turns his gaze on Maverick Studwick, creator of an amazing new form of origami cuisine. Don’t forget to leave feedback!  Episode 12: Probe Series 1 – Tim Shores | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:46:49

THIS PROG: The Coiled Spring Returns! In the first of a new series of episode of chiastic improvised interviews, my guest is local improv practitioner and father-to-be, Tim Shores. We are joined by two interviewers who wield the tools of their trade at two interviewees. In the first of two interviews, Homer Winslow hears from composer Jeffrey Peabody about his new musical piece based on the music of the very distant spheres. The conversation covers Soviet scientific endeavors, cerebral recordings and the vagaries of the baton. In the second interview, Kieran Granger has as his guest the explorer and friend of the avians Kenneth Isaacson, who wants to share possibly the most incredible discovery since Lemuria in 2011. Our new friends have an offer that may save us all! Don’t forget to leave feedback on what you think of our new direction. It’s good to be back.

Episode 11: The Ood Cast, Doctor Who, US/UK Fandom | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:50

THIS PROG: In the third and final of the three interviews I recorded on my recent trip to The Old Country, I talk to my old theatre buddy Andrew Candish, who is a lifelong fan of Doctor Who and part of one of the most popular and long running Whovian podcasts, The Ood Cast. I met Andrew and his Ood castmates Chris Alpha and Chris Sigma (sadly the Fourth Ood, Laura, couldn’t join us) at the National Theatre on London’s fashionable South Bank (right near the bookstalls under the bridge), and we talked Who, Trek, Wars, fans, and which were our favourite Who monsters. I’ve been a fan off and on of the eccentric Time Lord’s adventures since the Tom Baker days, but it was great to talk to folks whose love for the show has given rise to some of the most entertaining podcasting I’ve ever heard.  Episode 10: Dr Mira Vogel (ELF), Soda Pops | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:02:54

THIS PROG: In the second of three interviews I recorded on my recent trip to The Old Country, I talk to my much-missed friend, academic, blogger, activist and E-Learning Facilitator, Dr Mira Vogel. She stopped by my hotel in London’s fashionable Bloomsbury to talk about her work, her activism, and the world at large.  Episode 9: Dr James Kneale, BBO, HPL | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:02:35

THIS PROG: In the first of three interviews I recorded on my recent trip to The Old Country, I talk to my good friend, ex-neighbour and academic, Dr James Kneale. He’s a lecturer in Geography at University College London, so I went to his archetypal academic’s office (piles of books, students knocking on the door*, dying spider plants) to talk to him about his work, his side-project music blog, and the news of the day. Show Notes and Links Academia & Books Dr Kneale talking about the booze Various papers & publications by Dr Kneale UCL, University College London UCL SOAS HP Lovecraft - “Senior land-owning Tories have the Innsmouth look“ Clark Ashton Smith Robert Bloch Music (some clips used in the show, so think of these as credits) Both Bars On - music blog – “never knowingly on the pop pulse” The Quietus Flange Circus - Bon Holloway of Both Bars On’s band Skronk – such as Peter Brötzmann Blurt Gnod Goat Cut It! – title track from Blurt’s 2010 album That Rod Stewart Motown Song D-I-Y Do It Yourself – music compilation including Blurt and Glaxo Babies, and many many more!  Episode 8: Robin Deacon, Mrs Freshley’s Dreamies | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:12:49

THIS PROG: I had to take the opportunity to chat with Robin again, as he was staying with me in San Francisco while doing some filming for his current big project. We discuss all sorts of nonsense, in a very relaxed manner, due solely to the lateness of the hour and business of the day. We also jointly review Mrs Freshley’s Dreamies, an homage to the late lamented Hostess Twinkie, that I picked up in Carmel Valley (that and so much else besides). Show Notes: This episode is brought to you (not sponsored) by Jura Single Malt Whisky. Ghost Box - “a record label for a group of artists who find inspiration in folklore, vintage electronics, library music and haunted television soundtracks.” Scarfolk Council – “Scarfolk is a town in North West England that did not progress beyond 1979. Instead, the entire decade of the 1970s loops ad infinitum.” A live performance of Warm Coiled Leatherette Spring, by longtime Coiled Spring musical collaborators Probe. Megablast by Bomb The Bass – classic mix from 1988, complete with obligatory samples from Vietnam war films. Tune based on theme to Assault On Precinct 13.
