TRB009: 10 Steps to Achieving Fulfillment in Life and Avoiding Food and Exercise Addiction | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 40:33

Even if you don't think you have addiction or dependency to food or exercise, this is a hard-hitting session about optimizing your emotional health and taking positive steps toward healing any underlying issues that are leaving you less than fulfilled. Just as our goal is to achieve optimal physical health, we want to achieve optimal emotional health as well. Everybody has stuff they have to deal with, no matter how great you think your childhood or past relationships were. If you have an addiction or dependency that you struggle with -- which I define as struggling with food in any manner; the inability to inhibit your actions regarding food -- then let's get to the root of it. And if you have children, this is important from a parenting standpoint to make sure you're doing everything within your power to set them up for future success in these areas. This session was inspired by a listener feedback voicemail and I respond by giving you a list of 10 action steps that will lead you toward healing and ultimately fulfillment. Listen to this session The Action Steps Strive for contentment. Be enough for yourself. Cultivate deeper relationships. Eliminate self criticism. Acknowledge your effort. Schedule time for relaxation. Test for deficiencies and underlying health issues. Do what you love for work.  TRB005: Thirty Success Tips for the First 30 Days of Lifestyle Transformation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 50:06

The first 30 days of Reboot are critical -- getting to that thirty day mark gives you such confidence that you can finally change your health and eating for life, it's a huge step toward getting your body converted to being a fat burning furnace and not a sugar loving disaster, and you get a glimpse of the healing that real food provides your body. In this session I provide 30 effective and actionable success tips for the first 30 days of your lifestyle transformation. The goal is to make all of this talk about health and eating easier, to give you confidence, to give you a realistic outlook, and to give you a plan to WIN. Listen to This Session Session Notes Here's the 30 tips I cover in detail in the show. Reboot your pantry Log everything that goes in your mouth. Prepare for it to suck. Forget about working out -- focus on the food -- commit to walking only. Commit to going cold turkey. Prepare for extinction bursts. Make a list of go-to meals. Plan an escape route. If you're hungry, eat. Get plenty of sleep. Identify the emotion before you eat. Don't obsess over quality. Start taking Fish Oil or Krill Oil. Mix and match the same things over and over again. Cook in large batches and eat lots of leftovers. Get a lot of sunlight. Get your spouse and kids involved. Be a student of the game. Start taking probiotics. Get enough fat. Start taking Vitamin D3. Learn to conquer eating out. Go to social situations on purpose…as a mission. Blame not eating certain things on an allergy. Don't weigh yourself during the first 30 days. Blend if you have to. Always remind yourself that this is not a marathon or a sprint, it's the rest of your life. Little hiccups are easily corrected. Don't dwell on them. Master the art of the slow cooker. Abuse that thing. Eat dinner for breakfast. Or vice versa. Free yourself from the constraints of what society tells you that you should eat at certain times of the day. It's all nonsense. Look at yourself in the mirror every single day. Mentioned on the show...  TRB002: My Personal Journey and What Lifestyle Transformation Really Looks Like | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:58

Listen to This Session [magicactionbox id="1563"] Session Notes In Session 002 of The Rebooted Body Podcast, I talk a little bit about my personal journey from my previous status as 220+ pound "chubs" to my current weight of 160. This conversation ties in really well with telling you the truth about what lifestyle transformation looks like in the real world and why all of the "experts" who make it sound so straightforward and simple are lying to you. We also discuss whether or not running -- and other forms of cardio -- is healthy (especially for women) as I playfully poke fun at those who run. If you're a runner, I apologize ahead of time. To wrap up, a listener calls in a question about heal pain. 4:30 -- My Personal Journey 17:35 -- What Lifestyle Transformation Really Looks Like 21:50 -- Why Running (and Cardio in general) Isn't Something You Should Be Doing 36:30 -- Listener Questions More on Cardio and T3 production In ‘Women: Running into Trouble‘ (contains 80 references), physicist and author Kiefer, explains: Studies demonstrate beyond any doubt that in women, cardio chronically shuts down the production of the thyroid hormone, T3. T3 is the body’s preeminent regulator of metabolism by throttling the efficiency of cells. T3 acts in various ways to increase heat production. When T3 levels are normal, the body burns enough energy to stay warm and muscles function at moderate efficiency. Too much thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism) and the body becomes inefficient making weight gain almost impossible. Too little T3 (hypothyroidism) and the body accumulates body fat with ease, almost regardless of physical activity level.  TRB001: The Manifesto, Guest Tony Scarborough, The 80/20 Rule, Failures, Police Stuff, and More! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:08

Listen to This Session [magicactionbox id="1563"] Session Notes If you're on our Facebook page, you'll remember that I alluded to a special announcement. Well, this is it. The Rebooted Body is launching as a Podcast in addition to the blog! I'm not sure how often we'll be doing a session, but my goal is to do this weekly or -- at the minimum -- biweekly. In episode one we discuss the The Rebooted Body manifesto and sit down with Tony Scarborough, an Atlanta police officer and psuedo-rebooter to talk about his weight loss journey, how it affects his job, the 80/20 rule, failures, other police stuff, bulletproof coffee, and more. We'll be posting most of these episodes on Fridays, but I had to post this one ASAP in order to submit it to iTunes for approval. Once that's done, I'll tell you more about how to subscribe to the podcast using iTunes or -- even easier -- your smartphone. I want you listening, I want you sharing, I want you to be motivated, and I want to you get smarter. Those are the goals of the podcast. Thanks so much for being a Rebooter. If you have any feedback on the podcast, you can leave it in the comments below. Submit A Question To Be Answered on the Show → View More Podcast Episodes and Subscribe →
