Do You Have A Secret Self-Imposed Glass Ceiling That Is Keeping You Stuck? | File Type: video/mp4 | Duration: 00:02:46

Did you know that the single biggest reason why people don’t take inspired action on their dreams is their self-imposed glass ceiling? Are you running one? And is it holding you back? In today’s #takefivementoring video you’ll discover the surprisingly simple question that helps you to spot self-imposed glass ceilings – before they trash your dreams – and you’ll learn what you can do to turn things around in the next five minutes. Over to you! Once you’ve watched the video, let me know what action you’re going to take, via the comments. x Clare Want to work with Clare? => How to work together   Prefer To Read? Here’s The Transcript: Are You Running A Secret Self-Imposed Glass Ceiling? Welcome to this week’s #takefivementoring with actionable insights, and breakthroughs that you can do for yourself and under five minutes, to set yourself free from imposter syndrome and to become the leader you were born to be. And this week we’re looking at glass ceilings, specifically the self-imposed variety, because they’re the ones over which you have the most control, even though most of us don’t realise we’re running them. So how do you spot if you’ve got a self-imposed glass ceiling that’s getting in the way of your career dreams or your business dreams and stepping up to that next level of leadership? And making the difference you’re really here to make in the world? One simple question. “I can’t do that, because…” Think about something that is on your wish list for your goals or your long term vision and just allow the answers to that to bubble up, without judgment, without editing. You want to get at least five answers. “I can’t do that, because…” Press pause, jot down some notes and come back to me for the second half of this exercise. . . . . . . . So how did you get on? What were your ‘becauses’? Now here’s how you can tell if you’re running a self-imposed glass ceiling. You go through that list of 5, 6, 7 or 8 becauses and you start with looking at them, asking: “Is that really true?” With some of them, you’ll just look at them, you’ll know their nonsense, you can just draw a line through those. Then look at what’s left on the list. Ask: “Do I have any control over that, whatsoever?” Is it something from within or is it something external? If it’s something external, and you genuinely can’t make a difference in that, then you need to park it. What you’re looking for is the gems on the list that feel real to you; that create an emotional response in your body; over which you do have control. Pick one of those, draw a big ring around it. And ask yourself, “What am I going to take today to move towards clearing that out?” Look at what support you might need. But there will be more that you can do about that than you might think. And often simply being aware is enough to start to create those breakthroughs. So that is your #takefivementoring for this week. Let me know via the comments what action you’re going to take as a result of the insights you’ve gained from this video.  What Happens When Worries Get In The Way Of Your Dreams? [DTDB053] | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:19:46

Today we are talking about what happens when worries get in the way of our dreams. This one’s for you if you have ever had a big dream, a challenge or a comfort zone stretch and you’ve found yourself secretly procrastinating, distracting yourself, being too busy or telling yourself stories that keep you up at 3am, wondering if you’re good enough to make it happen. I’m going to explain why  this happens and give you a super-simple antidote! Tweetables: Your body can't tell the difference between 'legitimate fears' and 'mind-story fears' - it reacts the same way, as though you're about to run from a sabre-toothed tiger. No wonder worries get in the way of your dreams. Here's how to fix it:Click To Tweet Psst! Are we really too busy, or are we secretly scared? This week I’ve had a potent reminder of what happens when fear gets in the way of our dreams. It doesn’t matter whether those dreams are changing the world or passing exams or learning to parachute or saying hello to Mums at the school gate or introducing yourself at a networking event or giving a presentation or saying yes to a comfort-zone-stretching opportunity: fear is the biggest killer of hopes and dreams. My main objective this week was to finish the final edits for my new novel – First, Tell No Lies – to get the proof-reading changes done and to work with the cover designer to finish the graphics. I haven’t touched the project. Instead, I’ve been a workaholic, barely pausing to breathe, let alone eat, grumpy with my kids, suddenly deciding I had to set up a whole different project which, frankly, could have waited. I’ve done 14 hour days, I’ve taught masterclasses, I’ve worked with clients, I’ve got my new author website up and running (it’s looking great, even if I’m biased), I’ve worked on my media kit and I’ve been active in the EU VAT Action Campaign again, working with people to mitigate the impact of Brexit on UK microbusinesses. I’m even in fresh discussions on setting up the UK online business association, for which I had a meeting with the UK’s Small Business Minster back in May. But I haven’t once opened my laptop to edit my book. Why? Well, I’ve been too busy, haven’t I? No. Most of that could have waited. The truth is that I have been scared. Scared to finish my new novel. Despite my editor loving it. Despite my proof-reader loving it. If I don’t finish it, I can’t publish it, so I won’t risk readers not liking it. I felt scared they might think it’s boring. In case it’s badly written. In case they leave bad reviews. In case it’s not good enough. In case I’m not good enough. (This stuff always comes down to identity-level fears, which is why ‘mindset’ approaches can feel like sticky plasters). The fact that book one – You Take Yourself With You – has been described by so many readers as ‘unputdownable’ actually makes it worse. Those reviews were a dream-come-true for me. But it adds in a new batch of fears: Can I do it again? What if I let them down and they’re too polite to tell me they’re disappointed? What if the

Ten Surprising Things I Learned At Chris Ducker’s Youpreneur Summit – You Won’t Want To Miss These [DTDB052] | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:16:22

Wish you could have been at Chris Ducker’s fabulous Youpreneur Summit last weekend? FOMO-be-gone! Here are ten surprising things I learned there – and you won’t want to miss them! And if you were there, I’d love to hear which actions you’re taking, based on what you learned. As a massive introvert (though that doesn’t mean I’m shy), I don’t go to many big events. I choose carefully! But after Chris Ducker’s 2017 Youpreneur Summit, I booked my 2018 ticket even before I left. Learning from world experts is great, but I got even more value from the round-table masterminds we did during the event. And this year was just as good for that. I love meeting people I feel I already know from the virtual world and hugging like old friends. It kick-starts relationship-building and JV ideas in a way that a random breakfast networking meeting could never achieve. So I hope you enjoy listening to ten surprising things I learned at this year’s Youpreneur Summit – they are all things I will be implementing in my business over the next thirty days.
