 Khombat Podcast #015 feat. Product 19 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:02:29

John Bromage, aka Product 19, became one of Pittsburgh’s most established underground dance music DJ’s and is currently establishing himself as a recognizable name in the U.K., Europe and beyond. Starting over 12 years ago, he has played with some of the biggest names in music ranging from Phil Hartnoll (Orbital), Afrika Bambaata and Mixmaster Morris to Carl Cox, Umek, Chris Liberator, DJ Rush and Juan Atkins at some of the largest and highest quality parties in the US, Canada, England, Europe and Brazil. With major US residencies at The Matrix, Metropol, Club Laga, and Zythos, Product 19 is no stranger to playing for club crowds. He has performed at clubs and parties in cities such as Barcelona, Valencia, La Coruña, Krakow, Naples, Wroclaw, New York City, Philadelphia, Portland, Montreal, Toronto, San Francisco, Cleveland, Washington DC, Detroit, Santiago, Sao Paolo, Curitiba and many more. In 1997, he was asked to compete in the “Battle of the DJ’s” at Buzz, which was based in Washington DC and the biggest club night in the US. In 2000, he travelled to the UK for a three week tour where he performed in London, Bristol, Leeds, Sheffield, Devon, and Skegness. Since then, he was asked to return on numerous occasions and play again based on the audience response he received. He now lives in London. His musical style has ranged over the years from progressive to hard/acid trance to techno. Currently, Product 19 can be heard playing funky and edgy European-influenced techno at raves and larger clubs and funky techno, tribal, tech-house or minimal at smaller clubs and lounges. Music Production He continues to pursue his interests in music production. During one of his early trips to England, he worked in the studio with DJ/producer Roland Deem aka Rowland the Bastard (Infected, Bionic Orange, Planet Rhythm, Smitten, Stay Up Forever). The studio session resulted in tracks released on his label, Infected Recordings. He worked with Ant (Powertools, Hydraulix, Stay Up Forever) for the track “Blue Black” on Chris Liberator’s label Maximum/Minimum. Most recently Product has released 4 tracks for the label BR 909 with Rhythm Logistics, Guy McAffer and Ant. Dance Club & Event Promotion In addition to DJing and producing, Product 19 has been a music promoter since 1996. Initially, throwing small squat or renegade-style parties, he then founded House of Styles Productions LLC (HOS) in 1997. HOS was responsible for throwing some of the most memorable events in the Pittsburgh/Cleveland area history including the “Detergent Series” (Bounce, Dynamo, Biz, Cheer, Dawn, Joy, and Era). Era was the largest electronic music event in the region. HOS also threw the first all-techno event in Pittsburgh history, SubPhunc 27, with Phryl Productions from Toronto and hosted Liquid in Cleveland with ShortArm Productions. In 1999, HOS, in conjunction with Phryl, produced Integral in Pittsburgh. This was the first Plus 8-style party to be held outside the Detroit/Windsor area which exclusively featured Richie Hawtin, John Acquaviva and other artists from Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8 record label. Other events thrown were Proper featuring The Planet of the Drums Tour with Dieselboy, DJ Dara, and AK1200, Supreme which featured the Destiny Tour with Chris Liberator, Christopher Lawrence & OS/2, and Accelerate which hosted the Logical Progression Tour with LTJ Bukem, Nookie & MC Conrad and the Funky Techno Tribe Tour with DJ Sneak, DJ Dan & others.  Khombat Podcast #014 with Anthony Jimenez | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:04:20

Anthony Jimenez (pronounced hee-MEH-nes) may be a relative newcomer to the dj circuit, but he never fails to leave his impression on the dance floor. Since 2003 Anthony has experimented with many different genres of EDM in his dj sets to shape his sound into what it is today. Dark, driving, moody, industrial strength techno, mixed with the occasional track to let you come up for air. Turning in the traditional tools of a dj, the two turntables and mixer, Anthony chose to adopt an all-digital platform from which to work. This has allowed him to layer, mix and create a truly unique experience every time he performs. More than just a dj, Anthony is also a respected producer. With his new label “Khombat” launching soon, he is ready to begin releasing his music to the world.   DOWNLOAD   Num.  Khombat Podcast #013 feat. Darw_n | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:14:08

Currently based in Cleveland, darw_n now takes on a selective, quiet role in the tech scene; focusing on intimate settings; events that guarantee a vibe that is simple and pure. But his past, aside from all the gigs and residencies, does have some worth in mentioning. With a childhood background steeped heavily in his family's evolvement in modern art and theory, being obsessed with the un-natural sounds of late 80's electronic music, all while enthralled with the theater and drama of alternative and punk, darw_n started his slow steady march through DJ'ing from the very beginnings of this stuff called "rave" or "EDM", or whatever it is you have these days. Starting first in the very start of the 90's with the gabber and hardcore. Then playing with the more intricate sound of early acid trance. And then, briefly yet very significantly, physically moving to the east coast and jumping face first into the important sounds of a very specific time and place; 1995, Baltimore. This move to the east was just long enough to get darw_n experimenting with the trippy, funky, groove sounds of the scene of '95, and he hit (..or rather, more like blindly started to play without realizing it.) the sound, that to this day, is quintessentially 'darw_n'. Through out the late 90's and 00's, during his busiest point of his career, he focused his sound almost entirely on pure rhythm and stark minimalism. Developing the concept of 'tone-shifting' during the hey-day of swedish techno, darw_n saw the importance of layered repetition and subtle changes, and how the dance floor may show several different emotions all at once, but to the same music - the audience is just as much the artist as darw_n when he performs. WIth a mixing approach of heavily layered, twisted, tribally, tech house grooved vibe, his over-all sound is distinctive, poignant, dark, yet liberated in some strange sense. To hear him play, in his philosophy, is to be able to hear yourself.  Khombat Podcast #012 feat. The Machinist | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:22

Starting with Josh Wink and Mike Dearborn mix tapes in the mid 90's, Kevin (The Machinist) found himself in love with the art of mixing and dj'ing. After watching some of is favorite local Detroit artists and witnessing what can happen with 2 records at the same time, he developed a ever going perfecting taste of long blends and using the eq's to bring in and follow the flow of a track. In 2003 he finally saved up enough money to buy some turntables, and the rest is an 8 year journey of playing many underground shows throughout the Midwest, and even playing shows with the likes of Jon Aquaviva, Kevin Saunderson, and Detroit Grand Pumbahs to name a few. Though familiar with turntables and various genres of EDM, The machinist finds his style best suited for techno.   DOWNLOAD   1. Detour - Coeter Ones Meloncolitschi Edit 2. Bunika - Scalemeriya 3.  Khombat Podcast #009 feat. Justin Hartman | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:21

This weeks podcast features a mix specially put together by Justin Hartman. Coming up through the DJ ranks in music scenes comprised mostly of hypercritical DJs, it’s little surprise that Justin Hartman has amassed a technical ability behind the decks that blurs the line between disk jockey and live artist. His arsenal of obscure, though jaw-dropping tracks, combined with an innate ability to program a set that moves seamlessly through any number of genres has made him a standout favorite around Cleveland. Though recently on a deep tech house/indie dance binge, Hartman regularly destroys dance floors playing everything from house to breaks and even the deeper side of drum and bass. He’s truly a renaissance man as a DJ. Justin began his career in Denver during college playing smaller parties and holding down a year-long residency at Fusion. His job post-graduation brought him to Cleveland where he began a new residency at Abbasso and signed on to Headrush Music’s roster, opening for some of the biggest names in progressive house. It wasn’t long after that he had been invited to play most every EDM night in Cleveland and became a staple in Cleveland’s scene. Moving forward, Justin is the newest addition to the Cool House Collective (CHC) –Cleveland’s burgeoning roster of club DJs. Justin looks to deliver diversity, mastery and a plethora of panty-dropping surprises as a CHC DJ, while the Cool House Collective itself continues to build its reputation throughout the mid-west.  Khombat Podcast #004 feat. Ken Masters | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 57:38

Real name / Kenneth Martinez Ken Masters came into the scene in 1999 as a promoter at various night clubs in NY such as Roxy, Limelight, Sound Factory, Webster Hall, and Exit. After 8 years of doing promotions, he redirected his focus into music and learned how to dj. Within 2 years since first learning how to mix a beat, he has played all over the east coast from New York to Florida, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Massachusetts and Vermont. His various music styles range from house, deep house, tech house, techno, minimal and funky swing house. Within all these genres of music he is able to open and close any party and can work any crowd to keep their booties bouncing and shoulders shaking. It does not matter to him if he’s only playing for one person or 10,000 as long as his music can reach that one person and they can feel it deep down in their soul. MUSIC=LIFE   DOWNLOAD 1.
