 Ep.9 Redux: EXPLOITATION HORROR FILMS | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:35:04

Fear not, we’ll be back with brand new episodes starting September 19th. Meantime, here’s this week’s classic re-dux,  Episode 9, originally released via the now defunct Horror Palace on May 10th, 2012 and entitled ‘Exploitation Horror with Special Guest Vicodin.’ Tom, Billy and Joe take a walk down memory lane in the introductory comments to this epic episode. The original show notes looked something like this: The boys are left alone for episode 009 and things get heavy! Having his wisdom tooth pulled earlier in the day, Maxxacre is hopped up on prescription Vicodin making things a little crazier than usual. After the introductions of our host and co-hosts, the bloodied butchers of The Cutting Room have a great discussion about exploitation favorites Larry Clarke, Harmony Korine and Werner Herzog before they even get started, once again assuring our listeners that the conversations can and will go anywhere! TomaHawk is first up with an introduction to Todd Browning’s FREAKS from 1932. Max gets a bit emotional and Mummy and Grim give you some great history behind this beautiful masterpiece. Maxsacre gasses up the chainsaw for one of the most insane introductions to any movie we have reviewed here: SCREAM, BLACULA, SCREAM. The review moves into a personal and deep discussion about race and culture. Next, we move across the globe to the great country of Japan as our shop sushi chef Billy Grim gives us another stellar intro for Takashi Miike’s 2001 cult classic ICHI THE KILLER. Billy gives us a great lesson on Miike’s career as well. Finally, Joe Mummy unwraps himself and reviews the new dvd release of HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN and brings the show full circle. Have fun folks! The Cutting Room delivers some powerful stuff once again!  MiniEpisode 14: Lianne Spiderbaby & Journalistic Integrity (or lack thereof) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:27:31

Sir David Gonzo Pace was caught up in the Lianne Spiderbaby (aka Quentin Tarantino’s main squeeze) plagiarism scandal that recently shook the horror community and rattled journalism cages everywhere. He brings to The Cutting Room the guy who broke the story, Mike White (Impossible Funky Blog, The Projection Booth Podcast), and together they walk Tom and Joe through the sordid tale of an American Dream gone corrupt. The aftermath of the scandal was felt full tilt at Fangoria, where both Spiderbaby and Dave brandished their pens, honorable and filthy, respectively, until the s hit the f.Dave’s currently working on a story that promises to put some pretty big feet to the fire. That’ll show up here in the coming weeks. Meantime, here’s a piece he wrote last year. It’s more than just a little germane to the topic at hand.  Ep.8 Redux: Val Lewton & The Human Centipede | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:39:32

Our summer re-release program pushes on into the dog days with this blast from the past, Episode 8, dug out of the Horror Palace vault. Old buddies and old movies prove to be a combustible mixture indeed! To give you an idea of the hyjinx that ensued, here’s what the original show notes looked like when this was first released back on April 16th 2012: The Cutting Room welcomes the dangerous and unpredictable Joseph Taverney to this week’s program. Aside from being an old pal of Mummy and Tomahawk’s, Mr. Taverney is a playwrite, animal wrangler, shirtless stud, thorn in Maxxacre’s side, vampire book model, and documentarian; and that’s just in his off-time (his regular job is children’s book author superhero). Mr. Taverney helps the sword-swallowers talk about THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2 after The California Chainsaw Maxsacre delivers his very first official dvd review on the show. Then we all travel back in time to review three Val Lewton classics from the 1940′s: CAT PEOPLE, I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE, and THE LEOPARD MAN. Other highlights in random order: 1. Joe Mummy’s son, Mini-Mummy, makes his first appearance on the show for a special announcement about THE NIGHTMARE! 2. Awkward silences, tense exchanges! 3. Maxsacre accuses Mummy of sounding like Tommy Chong and offers proof! 4. Embarrassing moments from Tomahawk and Mummy’s! 5. Taverney threatens to have his dog eat Max! 6. Billy Grim emotionally steadies The Cutting Room ship even while wavering on his Leopard Man star rating! It all boils down to this: a can’t miss show. Will Max kill Taverney? Will Taverney overthrow Tomahawk and really take control of the show?! Will Mummy finally write an intelligent review? Will Taverney REALLY listen to what Billy Grim is saying? All of these questions, and more, will be answered! Show Links iTunes | RSS | Email Alerts | Stitcher | Tumblr | Website | Facebook | Twitter Movie Clips

 Ep.7 Redux: David Cronenberg & Jeff Schroeck | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:43:25

This week we re-release Episode #7 from our horror vault. This installment has been vanished from existence since the Horror Palace ceased their podcast activities a few months ago. Originally released on April 12th 2012, the newly recorded intro by Tom, Max and Joe turns into a hyjinx show unto itself. The original notes looked like this: Welcome to Episode 007 of The Cutting Room! Our special guest this week is Jeff Schroeck, the front man of the New Jersey Indie Punk phenomenon Black Wine.In addition to weighing in with his thoughts about professional wrestling, Jeff gives us some insight into his music before helping us review Tomahawk’s new release pick APOLLO 18. Jeff also sticks around for an incredible journey through the brilliant mind of David Cronenberg: The Evil Reverend starts the sermon off with a review of THE DEAD ZONE (1983) and Mummy finishes up with his take on the 1986 classic THE FLY. This week also marks the debut of the newest Cutting Room host, the inimitable Max “The Chainsaw Maxxacre” Koch. The Maxxacre comes out slashing with a hilarious channeling of our fearless leader, Tomahawk. Nadine’s film production company Blue Girl Productions will be releasing a new horror short film, NO PETS ALLOWED, in the coming months. The show kicks off with McCaffrey bringing his rapper persona TMC to the slicing table as he performs “Scarface Is Overrated”!  Ep.3 Redux: Koch, Dahmer, Bundy, Penguins | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:10:39

Our re-release program brings us to Episode 3 this week. It marks the first appearance of the inimitable Max Koch… and the show has never been the same. As we note in the new intro to this program, the chemistry we had with Max was undeniable and it was here, in our opinion, that the show began to take its proper form, to become what it is today (for better or worse, that is!) Enjoy! The original show notes looked something like this: The Cutting Room 003: Mr. Popper’s Penguins (or how I learned to stop worrying and love Dahmer, Bundy, and Max Koch) Episode 003 has arrived!!! Our special guest for this episode is the co-founder of the Bowler Hat You Tube Channel and the voice of Mantis on KUNG FU PANDA: LEGENDS OF AWESOMENESS, the very talented Mr. Max Koch! Max is gonna help the boys carve a little fun into the show as we review two films based on real life serial killers. Lock your doors, avoid strangers and do not help anyone wearing a cast on his arm that may need help moving his sailboat!!! The show begins with a little visit from a self “made” man who plugs his slasher flick CLEAVER. After the usual introductions of all three CUTTING ROOM butchers including an awesome interview with Max, The Evil Reverend Billy Grim delivers his sermon on the re-release of the 1981 arthouse horror flick POSSESSION. Joe also mentions what his favorite Jim Carey movie is!!! The always insightful Joe Mummy comes to life for a great intro for the film DAHMER., a 2002 biopic starring Jeremy Renner that all four of us take a stab at reviewing. A classic conversation you do not wanna miss. The TomaHawk then chops into the film TED BUNDY directed by Matthew (FREEWAY 1 & 2) Bright. TomaHawk then chops through his new dvd release of CONTAGION directed by Steven Soderbergh. The whole gang is quick to unsheathe their blades and carve up an insightful look into the apocalyptic film. The always awesome Joe Mummy then wraps himself around the introduction to our first Troma film setting up the gang with the Troma classic, THE TOXIC AVENGER!  Special Announcement with Extended Hyjinx | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:51:47

We don’t formally review any films this episode but we sure indulge in plenty of behind-the-scenes hyjinx. Yup, you’ll get a heaping noseful of our dirty laundry as we announce our plans for the summer and chew over the reasons that went into the decision to take the reprieve. Along the way we have a casual discussion about some of the upcoming summer releases and talk over Rob Zombie’s LORDS OF SALEM. Oh, we also welcome Jeff Shroeck to the panel. Glad to have you aboard, Jeff! During our summer hiatus, we’ll be rolling out more of our horror episodes (which have been vanished from existence since the crumbling of the Horror Palace empire a few months ago) and we’ll also be checking in now and again with a mini-episode, to be sure. Fear not! we’ll be back and better than ever in September. So thanks for listening and have a great summer, everyone! EPISODE LINKS Dave’s interview with Astron 6.  Ep.1 Redux: Sam Raimi & Peter Jackson | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:47:03

As we explain during the new intro to this episode, our first twenty some-odd shows have been vanished from public space since the demise of the Horror Palace a few months ago so, for the morbidly curious and the TCR hardcores, we’re rolling out re-releases of our humble horror beginnings. Fear not, we’ll be back with our regularly scheduled program as per usual. Here’s what the original show notes looked like when it was first released back on February 20th, 2012: Episode 001 has finally arrived so sit back, listen, and enjoy two and a half hours of pure film geek heaven. We kick things off with a quick introduction of all three CUTTING ROOM players before Joe Mummy begins to cut the throat of the new DVD release TERROR TRAP starring Michael Madsen and Jeff Fahey. An excellent review by a genuine and thoughtful cinematic mind. The Evil Reverend Billy Grim then guts us through his introduction of Sam Raimi’s THE EVIL DEAD as we discuss his first film and slice and dice through all of his movies including SPIDER MAN and A SIMPLE PLAN. The last part of our monstrous program is kicked off by Tomahawk as he takes a stab at introducing Peter Jackso’s initial labor of love, BAD TASTE. We deliver a full review of that film and talk everything about the New Zealander including the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy.  Episode 32: Bodily Functions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:16:02

The California Chainsaw Maxxacre is back! and he subjects The Cutting Room hosts to his cruel will and three truly disturbing films as only a bonafide sadist/sadomasochist could. Get ready for ‘Bodily Functions’ a’la Max Koch! Not for the faint of heart, it’s great, big, cinematic helpings of poop, pee, and punishment this time around, folks. First, Dave’s feathers are ruffled by the 2012 new DVD release SINISTER (which is disturbing for reasons that lie outside the film itself). As our resident horror fanatics, both he and Max get very agitated by the wasted potential of this one. Then, as an inroad to our ‘Bodily Functions’ discussion, we get a visit from one of Max’s pals, health advocate Sheri Strahl. Emboldened by Sheri’s legitimacy and vast knowledge, the fellahs waste no time giving Tom a ton of s#*t about his diet, his smoking, and lack of exercise, all of it meted out with that patented t.c.r. brand of  t.l.c., of course. We get to the nasty crux of our theme first with SALO: 120 DAYS OF SODOM, possibly one of the cruelest films ever made, and then march to the beat of the academy award winning THE TIN DRUM, a remarkable and, shall we say, uncomfortable bit of film-making.
