Episode 67 – Tracy Chevalier writes quilt stuff! Who knew? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Tracy Chevalier released a new book called The Last Runaway. Have you heard of it? [note: the above image is an Amazon affiliate link] According to this review on NPR: For a novel exploring such explosive themes, The Last Runaway is a quiet, contemplative read, mirroring the demeanor of its Quaker heroine. It might be too quiet for some readers. Much of the narrative is devoted to lengthy descriptions of Honor quilting and performing other homely domestic tasks. These scenes can become rather ponderous. Woot!  A novel with quilting in it. I am still wondering how much they are asking for that quilt shop. Wouldn't it be like an Elm Creek Quilt novel to own your own shop?  Ah.  To have all that fabric and sewing machines whirring and...wake up!  Episode 66 – Angela Walters Craftsy class review | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

I finished quilting the Cloverleaf Quilt!  Check out some sneak peaks. This is the back: And then I started playing with the camera a bit...and found I could make these neat tiled pics.  So here is another shot(s) of the back: And then this is a another playful shot, this time of the front: Sometimes I wonder about my color choices.  I happen to love bright pink and that peacock blue together.  Do you have a favorite color combination that doesn't seem popular? Don't forget to visit a local quilt shop on January 24th for Quilt Shop Day!  It turns out my local quilt shop is involved.  Yay!  Check the site to see if there is a shop in your area. This episode mostly centered around Craftsy and Angela Walters' class, Machine Quilting Negative Space.  I recently completed her course.  The quilt that I made for my friend's daughter was quilted with some of Angela's designs.  There are lots of classes to take on the site including classes covering knitting, cake decorating, apparel sewing, and even cheese making.  There are a few free classes scattered around the site so if you are unsure of the format there is a try-before-you-buy opportunity.
