 Episode 420 - Top Ten Songs About Lust w/Jenny Lynne | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5634

Of all the seven deadly sins, lust may be the most fun, or the most dangerous, depending on how well you can control yourself. The tunes featured in Top Ten Songs About Lust are not merely songs about sex, or songs about love. To quote the immortal Joan Jett, "if you think it's luv, then you're thinking wrong". To lust is to want, and ATTT wants to introduce our listeners to one of our favorite people, the freewheeling Jenny Lynne. When Jenny is not acting, modeling, swallowing swords, or having knives thrown at her, she's rocking out to her favorite songs about the sin of lust, and we're more than delighted to have her aboard the All Time Top Ten family and to introduce the 3rd of 7 in our series on songs about the seven deadly sins. Without a doubt, the Summer Of Sin just got a little naughtier.  Episode 419 - Top Ten Songs About Sloth w/Joe Lavelle | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 6873

I could write something here about how Top Ten Songs About Sloth is part 2 of our 7-part series The Summer Of Sin, dissecting the 7 Deadly Sins, one playlist at a time. I could also tell you that long time show favorite Joe Lavelle is on to help us count down our favorite songs about being lazy, and exactly what kind of a sin sloth really is. I could do all that but I don't feel like it.  Episode 418 - Top Ten Songs About Wrath w/Matt Dinan | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5802

Everything is terrible, this is a fact. Our options for dealing with this fact are to pretend everything is hunky dory, fall into despair and forget about the healing power of art, or the much sexier and righteous option - to embrace it and find humor and meaning in art wherever we can, to keep us sane in an insane world. Of course our favorite medium is, as Beethoven once said "the only medium that matters, bitch" (paraphrasing) - music. So let's take a musical look at the darker side of living for the rest of this summer, adopt a theme based on the 7 deadly sins, and let the Summer Of Sin begin. Each week for the next 7 weeks, we're reveling in sin, finding truth where it lays. To kick things off we call upon our resident demon-in-chief, longtime beloved regular Matt Dinan to break down the most violent of the 7 deadly sins, wrath. Whether its a woman scorned or the literal wrath of God, this particular sin packs a punch and is not for the squeamish. Enjoy.  Episode 417 - Top Ten Live Aid Performances w/Shannon Hurley | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 7408

On July 13 1985 or 35 years ago today, the charitable nature of Bob Geldof, Midge Ure and an avalanche of insane musical talent helped make history with a benefit concert for the ages. On two continents, in front of a television audience of 1.9 billion people, or roughly 40% of the world's population, and presented on stage in front of 175,000 people who thought they had died and gone to live music heaven, Live Aid may well be the greatest day of live music in history. In addition to raising millions to help starving and displaced refugees in Ethiopia, Live Aid brought the world together in harmony, rocking out to the "Global Jukebox". To honor such a momentous occasion, ATTT has called upon our resident Live Aid expert, the Numbers Girl herself, Ms. Shannon Hurley to count down what artists we believe had the best performances at this monumental event. Whose star shone the brightest on that amazing day? We have opinions. As promised, here's the YouTube playlist, featuring the mind blowing performances of everyone on our list: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2Sj57_93sScxXnYoue_pW2SZmLBsqnE_ You can also listen to this playlist by streaming it on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0PTizCZE9IcUUCsUf6RdyN?si=-k4O4lo9QPmGSmQZ-GLxWQ Get Live Aid Leftovers Worst To First with special guest Shannon Hurley as August's entry into our exclusive Patreon podcast series.  Episode 416 - Top Ten Rock N Roll Potty Mouths w/Kara Donahue | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5055

Times like these make us want to speak our minds, and in times like these sometimes what's on our minds requires a certain hint of outrage. The way we see it, what better way to express outrage or a passionate feeling about something than with an off-color remark. George Carlin knew it was an important topic, and so do we. ATTT is joined by an old friend from Ben's Nashville days, singer, performer and all-around excellent person Kara Donahue. Ben and Kara share the same affinity for our, uh, topic, and the artists featured on Top Ten Rock N Roll Potty Mouths agree. 2020 America is a vulgar place, make no mistake. We're here to have fun with it and play some great music in the process.  Episode 415 - Top Ten 60's Rockers In The 80's w/Steve Cunningham | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 6566

Some of the greatest titans of rock and pop music cut their teeth in the 1960s. Many of these bands and artists were able to stay relevant throughout the 70s, even when disco and punk were setting the musical world on its ear. What's extremely rare is an artist or band that had big time success in the 60s having the staying power or the inexplicable comeback story that made them surprisingly relevant and vital 20 years down the road into the 80s. This was the first time that rockers of all genres were trying to navigate pop culture while pushing 40 or even 50 years old. Only a select few were able to pull this feat off, and we wanted to pay tribute to these journeymen and women by counting down our favorite 60s rockers that had a great 1980s commercially and/or critically. ATTT is excited to have a guest return to the show for the first time in years, and Minneapolis' own guitar wizard Steve Cunningham is on hand to help us count down our favorite aging superstars from the 60s doing it again in the 80s.  Episode 414 - Top Ten Rage-Inducing Rappers w/Dan Ewen & Guy Opochinski | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5980

Once a year, the folks behind the scenes at ATTT HQ are allowed to go crazy and select topics that celebrate and make fun of bad music. It's their own personal Rumspringa! This year they've gone off the deep end, and selected a topic that produced a playlist so vile, so ridiculous, that it has to be heard to be believed. Top Ten Rage-Inducing Rappers, being a hip-hop episode, called upon us to call upon a couple of our hip-hop specialists. Enter the vaguely funny Dan Ewen and the decently funny Guy Opochinski to help us count down the worst of the worst in hip-hop history. Both of these fine gentlemen are worth a follow on Twitter.  Episode 413 - Top Ten Songs To Quarantine To w/Jeff Axelrod | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 6842

We tried hard to stay away from this topic. We know how stressed out and tired everyone is. We hoped that people here in America would choose the path of compassion and empathy, and do what was needed to work together to defeat a virus that has ravaged the entire planet. Turns out we're going to be stuck in this timeline for a while, and despite how much everyone wants to, we here in the states will not be getting back to normal for a long time. Pal Of The Pod and globetrotting dude extraordinaire Jeff Axelrod has been teaching English in China for the past few years, and was near the epicenter of the virus' origin when all hell broke loose. Jeff has been in severe lockdown and has come out the other side free and clear, and has a lot to say about his experience and what he sees us here in America going through. We also wanted to take this time to finally weigh in on the very popular "Quarantunes" topic, as we present our favorite songs about our current situation. Enjoy our take on Top Ten Songs To Quarantine To.  Episode 411 - Top Ten Songs Against Censorship w/Chris Van Gompel | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5824

There must be something in the air, but it seems like the entire country of America is itching to speak its mind these days. 2 things that make the good ol U.S. Of A good, and sometimes great are our free & fair elections, and our freedom of speech. We have every right to say George Floyd's murder was an unconscionable tragedy. We have every right to say the president is a dipshit. It's all engrained in our Constitution, and it's up to the people themselves to use our right to speak our mind, and if we don't use it, we may lose it. Milwaukee punk and noise aficionado Chris Van Gompel joins the pod for a batch of songs that distill our philosophy to a tee. WE HATE CENSORSHIP. Chris' band IfIHadAHiFi has been drowning Milwaukee and surrounding areas in noise for over 20 years.  Episode 410 - Top Ten Motown Artists w/Ryan Blake | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5884

I had to look it up, and The Old Boy Himself Ryan Blake has been on ATTT 43 times, including the first 16 episodes starting way back in 2011. We've been through a lot with Ryblake, but one place we've never been is on a Facebook Messenger connection. But things being the way they are, we need to get together with our favorite people in any way we safely can. We also need to have trusted co-hosts around who know what they're doing when attempting an episode topic as sacred as this one. Top Ten Motown Artists is a daunting task, especially in terms of putting the list together in the right order. Berry Gordy's stable of artists from the last 60 years of Motown are possibly the most impressive collection of musical talent ever assembled, and we needed to piece this Jenga puzzle of a list in the correct order. Did we stack the picks up just right? You be the judge.  Episode 409 - Top Ten Great Bands With Bad Names w/DJ Hostettler | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 7508

ATTT is continuing its visit to the great state of Wisconsin for a chat with drummist and all-around swell fella DJ Hostettler to break down a topic that is near and dear to our hearts. We have to come clean and tell the world that some of our favorite bands did a terrible job coming up with a name. The bands featured in Top Ten Great Bands With Bad Names are a unique bunch. They thrive in spite of names that are sometimes so bad, they keep people from listening to them. Let's face it, if someone told you that you have to listen to Garbage, does it really sound like a fun time? Anyway, we had a blast reminiscing about the terribly-named bands we've been in over the years and call out some of our favorite bands for dropping the ball in the name department.  Episode 408 - Top Ten Songs About Science Volume 2 w/Norb Rozek | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4554

Now more than ever, the phrase "now more than ever" needs to be retired. Please accept our humble apologies for using it. While you're recovering, we'd like to turn your attention to something that we can't get enough of in today's wacky world. Science. Good ol research-based, knowledge-based, methodical, organized, rigorous, exacting, mathematical and most importantly factual science. We need science in 2020 like our lives depend on it. In that spirit, we here at ATTT HQ thought it would be swell to put a big fat spotlight on what makes science great by playing a bunch of songs with scientific themes in mind. For our special guest we reached out to the great state of Wisconsin for Green Bay punk legend, the Reverend Norb Rozek. The playlist we put together is a very "volume 2" type of playlist, meaning we dug a little deeper to find some gems you may not have heard before, but they do this week's theme proud. SCIENCE!  Episode 407 - Top Ten Songs We Love From Bands We Don't w/David Daskal | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 7447

*Disclaimer The following episode contains really good to possibly great songs by bands that we definitely don't want to be associated with. This does not constitute an endorsement of the existence of the artists and bands behind the picks. Please keep this in mind as ATTT is joined by the one and only Sir David Daskal, doing his first ever remote episode in style. All but the most putrid of bands and artists we've heard have at least one song that we can get behind, and this episode highlights some of the brightest of the diamonds in the roughest of the rough.
