Critical Issues Commentary Radio
Summary: Critical Issues Commentatry grew out of Bob DeWaay's passion to equip the saints for the work of ministry. In the late 1980's Bob met regularly with a group of local pastors, often presenting position papers on timely doctrinal issues. When he found that the messages were accepted by only a few of the attendees and rarely reached the pews, he chose to speak directly to the people by initiating a bimonthly newletter. Bob DeWaay is teacher and theologian at Gospel of Grace Fellowship in Edina, MN. Running With Endurance: Hebrews 12:1-3, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. The author of Hebrews uses the analogy of a long distance footrace in a stadium to describe the Christian life. Moses made a dramatic choice when he gave the treasures of Egypt to identify with the Hebrew people of his ancestry. Heaven as the Fatherland of the Heroes of Faith: Hebrews 11:13-16, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. Heaven is the destination for the people of faith. We discuss how important heavenly citizenship is for believers and that heaven is often wrongly de-emphasized in many churches. The faith of the patriarchs pointed to heaven and so should ours. The author of Hebrews calls the congregation to remember the days when they were willing to suffer for Christ. He does this to comfort them and exhort them to press forward and not shrink back. A Horrifying Possibility: Hebrews 10:26-31, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. This is yet another warning against apostasy in Hebrews. Apostates have trampled Christ under foot, regarded His blood as defiled, and insulted the Holy Spirit. Therefore they face certain judgment. (duration 00:32:23)

This section of Hebrews contains three exhortations: draw near, hold fast, and assemble together for mutual edification. Released from Sin: Hebrews 10:15-21, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. New covenant believers have continual, unhindered access to the presence of God through Christ's finished work. "Once For All": Hebrews 10:8-14, presented by Bob DeWaay and Dick Kuffel. The sacrifice that Christ made once for all is the one God desired and it permanently consecrates believers for service to God and holy worship. (duration 00:32:51)
